T. L. SCARBOROUGH, age 88, of Coleman, died Wednesday (May 8, 2002) in Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Shields cemetery with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Scarborough was born June 13, 1913 near Shields, Texas and was a son of Jessie Aubrey Scarborough and Mary Sneed Loften Scarborough. He grew up in the Shields and Brown Ranch communities and attended school at Brown Ranch. On December 22, 1934 he married
Winnie Lee Lane in Burkett and she preceded him in death on November 5, 1994. Mr. Scarborough lived in San Angelo for a number of years where he owned and operated Scarborough Distributing Company. He moved to Coleman in 1995 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Blackwell of Bryan, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Faye Scarborough of Buckeye, Arizona; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
LIDDIE B. SIMMONS WHITE, age 78, of Coleman, died Thursday (May 9, 2002) in Abilene Regional Medical Center. Services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.
STELLA BUCY TUNE, age 80, of Canton and formerly of Coleman, died Thursday (May 23, 2002) in Tyler. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Milam officiating. Interment
will be in the Coleman City cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Stella Bucy Tune was born September 9, 1921 in Parks, Stephens County, Texas and was a daughter of the late Seth and Dollie Mae Keith Bucy. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1939. On March 2, 1941 she married
Sanford B. Tune in San Angelo and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1992. She was a homemaker and lived in many different places where her husband was a Church of Christ minister, including Mertzon, Rising Star, Llano, Pecos, Abilene, Moran, Sheridan, Aldean, Kansas City, Missouri, Dearborn, Michigan, Chandler, Arizona, Paris, Arkansas, Greensboro, Indiana and Amerherst, Texas She moved back to Coleman in 1988 and moved to Canton several years ago to be near her children. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Danielle Tune of Canton, Sandra Milam of Roseville, Michigan and Sharron Mintz of Canton; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Lavonia Bucy of Phoenix, Arizona, Dollie Jean Sparkman and Theda Rhea Hazelwood both of Coleman.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Sanford B. Tune, Jr. in 1949.
Family visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
RICKY GLENN ELDRED, age 31 of Santa Anna, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at Coleman County Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2002 at Glen Cove cemetery, with Brother Paul Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Ricky Glenn was born May 21, 1971 in Brownwood, a son of Ed Eldred and Sandra Kitchens Rodgers. He was raised and attended school in Coleman. He married
Mindy Burnett in 1997 in Brownwood. They later divorced. He worked as a roofer and was a Baptist.
Ricky Glenn is survived by his parents, Bill and Sandra Rodgers of Santa Anna, Ed and Betty Eldred of Coleman, Billy Walker of Brownwood; three brothers, Chris (and fiancée Kaylene) Eldred of Santa Anna, George (and wife Terrie) Eldred of Coleman, Scotty Kitchens of Coleman; two sisters, Salinda Eldred (and fiancée Danny Norway) of Santa Anna, Carmel Walker of Brownwood; one step-brother, Michael (and wife Sherry) Hubach of Coleman; one step-sister, Chrissy Hubach of Winters; grandmother, Pauline Boyd of Santa Anna and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank & Ruby Eldred, George Kitchens and one uncle, Raymond Kitchens.
Family visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the funeral home.
BRENDAN LEE CLAY, age 18 months, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (May 27, 2002) in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Audie Cathey officiating. Burial will follow in the Atoka cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Brendan was born November 7, 2000 in Fort Worth and was the son of Landon Figert and Jessica Lee Clay.
Survivors include his parents, Jessica Lee Clay of Fort Worth and Landon Figert of Granbury; grandparents, Brenda Clay of Fort Worth, Dale Clay of Arlington, Stacy Gilmore of Midland, Michael Figert of Odessa; great-grandparents, Floyd and Laura Kincaid McDaniel of Fort Worth; one aunt, Casey Clay of Fort Worth, three uncles, Jacob Clay of Arlington, Jamie Figert of Fort Worth, Colby Figert of Odessa; great-aunt, Susan Denson of Rowlett and numerous cousins and great aunts and great uncles.
Brendan was preceded in death by a great-aunt, Karon Westerfield, great-great grandparents, Robert and Grace Kincaid, Henry McDaniel, Sr. and Ruby Patterson; three great-great uncles, Albert Kincaid, Johnny Ben Kincaid and Cecil McDaniel; two great-great aunts, Lucille Loader and Shirlene Jones.

LOLA DODSON, age 96, of Coleman, died Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Rev. John Stanislaw will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. Gary Boyd. Burial will follow in Coleman City cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dodson was born on April 30, 1906 at Talpa, Texas and was a daughter of Thomas Howard Crosby and Nora Lee Sanders Crosby. She grew up in Coleman County and graduated from Valera High School in 1923. On August 3, 1926 she married
A. E. "Gene" Dodson in Glen Cove and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was a homemaker and a Charter Member of the Coleman County Texas A & M Mother’s Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Lydia Sunday School class.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Margie Dodson of Coleman; two daughters, Bobbie Dodson of Coleman and Shirley Hunter of Burkett; one brother, Glenn Crosby of Clyde; one sister, Alma Wright of Lovington, New Mexico; six grandchildren, DeAnn (and husband Larry) Nivens, Dennae (and husband John) Cyr, Lezlie (and husband Brian) Wallace, Randy (and wife Sandy) Hunter, Ken (and wife Terri) Hunter, Cole Dodson; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan and Marc Nivens, Leif Hunter, Kristin Hunter, Chase Hunter, Kailea Hunter and Ryc Cyr.
She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Dodson in 1985 and a son-in-law, Bill Hunter in 1998.

ADA B. EHRLER, age 84, of Coleman, died Wednesday (May 29, 2002) at Coleman County Medical Center. Ada B. Ehrler was born September 23, 1917 in Gouldbusk, Texas and was a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Priddy and Mary Ethel Cornelius Priddy. She grew up in Gouldbusk and graduated from Mozelle High School. On April 18, 1941 she married
Dolph Ehrler in Coleman and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1993. She was a nurse at the Sealy Hospital in Santa Anna and the Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital in Coleman for many years. She was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Jane Ehrler and Tim and Donna Ehrler all of Coleman; three grandchildren, Christi Ehrler and Lisa (and husband Mack) Watson all of Coleman and Shanna (and husband Geoffrey) Hollingsworth of Pflugerville, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Brady Hunter, Seth Watson, Aaron and Haley Hollingsworth; two brothers, James Earl Priddy of Coleman and Bill Priddy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shannon D. Ehrler.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
GENE EVANS, age 73 of Columbus, Texas and formerly of Talpa, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Select Specialty Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, with Rev. Sammy Carr officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Talpa cemetery with Loyd Hopper officiating. There will be a family visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Evans was born July 16, 1928 in Talpa, a son of Everett E. and Ruth Sewell Evans. He married
Sue Smedley on November 12, 1950. He was self-employed with the Farm Bureau Insurance Agency of Colorado County. He had lived in Columbus since 1962 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Evans of Columbus; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott & Donna Evans of Fulshear, Texas, Steve and Kay Lyn Evans of Talpa, Smed & Yvonne Evans of Richmond, Texas; one sister, Patsy Adams of Maybank; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Evans, Steve Evans, Smed Evans and Scott Evans, Jr.

Guytie May Rhodes Nolen of Coleman passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Coleman Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Nolen was born May 2, 1909 in Walnut Springs, Texas as the third child of Robert Lee and Sally Rebecca Ownbey Rhodes. She was raised and attended public schools in Walnut Springs.
On July 12, 1942 she married
Bygie Nolen of Gorman, Texas where they farmed peanuts for many years. In 1980 they retired and moved to Coleman, Texas to be near her late sister and brother-in-law, the Rev. Perry and Mrs. LaVerne Lindley. Mrs. Nolen was a lifetime member of the United Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Nolen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bygie Nolen, three brothers, and four sisters.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frankie Seale Allen of Brownfield, Texas and Mrs. Lorene Berry of Morris, Oklahoma; two brothers, Billy K. Rhodes of Hico, Texas, and J. Deane Rhodes of Amarillo, Texas; many nieces, nephews, and a host of church family and loving friends also survive her.
Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Kokomo, Texas in the Simpson cemetery. Family visitation will be held at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rev. Theron Chapman and Rev. Elroy Martin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local Hospice or your favorite charity.
ORVAL SIMPSON, age 89, of Coleman died Wednesday (June 26, 2002) at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Orval Simpson was born October 9, 1912 in Sparks, Oklahoma and was a son of Daniel Lafayette and Mattie Lee Terrell Simpson. He grew up and attended school in Oklahoma. On April 16, 1934 he married
Elsie Lillian Davis in Shawnee, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on November 2, 1984. He moved to Coleman in 1949 where he owned and operated Orval Simpson Well Service. He was a pioneer in the oil industry in Coleman County and surrounding areas. He was also a contract pumper for many years and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Lola Simpson of Kilgore, Texas; one daughter, Arvella Simpson of Coleman; five grandchildren, Jerilyn Wager and husband Karl, Matt Ewing and wife Tracy, Monty Ewing and wife Cindy, Tammy Kirkland and husband Jimmy, and Todd Simpson; eleven great-grandchildren, Jason Wagner, Mindy, Lexie and Nikki Ewing, Travis and Curtis Ewing, Heather Davis, Andrea Chapman and husband Willard, Alisha Kimberly and husband Luke, Kimberli Kirkland and Krystal Kirkland; two great-great grandchildren, Anthony and Baylee Chapman; one brother, J. D. Simpson and wife Jacky of Oklahoma City; special friend, Lavada Young of Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, Paul Eugene Simpson; two sisters, Clemmie Mae Yohn and Eulah Noreen Kerce.
