RUBY NANCE CAMPBELL, age 78, of Coleman died Wednesday (February 28, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating and assisted by Rev. Pat McClatchy. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Campbell was born July 16, 1922 in Ballinger, Texas and was a daughter of William A. Nance and Ruth Allen Nance. She grew up in Ballinger and graduated from high school there. On July 20, 1941 she married W. F. (Willie) Campbell in Ballinger and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1998. She moved to Coleman in 1941 and was a co-owner of Campbell Pharmancy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Bettie Morris Circle.

Survivors include one son, William Nance Campbell (and wife Patricia) of Coleman; one daughter, Virginia Ann Moseley (and husband Kyle) of Rochelle, Texas; one sister, Virginia Foster (and husband Pat) of Fairfax, Virginia; one brother, W. A. Nance, Jr. (and wife Juanita) of Levelland; three grandchildren, Chance Campbell (and wife Jackie) of Austin, Clay Campbell (and wife Aislynn) of College Station and Kyla Moseley of Lubbock; one great-grandson, Courtland Campbell of College Station; one aunt, Frances Allen of Ballinger; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 500 West Liveoak, Coleman, Texas 76834 or the donor’s favorite charity.

The family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Clem Wilkinson age 78, of Coleman died Monday (March 05, 2001) at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery. Mrs. Wilkinson was born in 1922 at Echo. She grew up in Coleman County and graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1938. She attended nursing school at Sealy Hospital in Santa Anna and was an LVN for over 50 years, working at Sealy Hospital in Santa Anna and Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital in Coleman. She also worked for Dr. Morris Mann and Dr. Carl Kobler. In 1954, she married Arthur Wilkinson in Terrell, Texas. She was Baptist and a member of the Ladies Auxilary of the V.F.W. Survivors include: her husband - Arthur Wilkinson of Coleman; two sons and daughters-in-law - Charles and Jill Ball of Granbury and Brad and Brenda Wilkinson of Coleman; four grandchildren and several cousins survive. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.

ROSA LEE PAYNE, age 60, died Wednesday (March 7, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (March 9, 2001) at Stevens Fueral Home Chapel with Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Burkett cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Payne was born December 14, 1940 in Coleman, a daughter of the late Herman Davis and Rosa Inez Davis. She was raised and attended schools in Coleman and married Joe Payne on July 22, 1977 in Ballinger. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Crowder and James Crowder both of Coleman; one daughter, Cynthia Lewis of Coleman; two step-sons, Gary Payne and Jody Payne both of Coleman; her mother, Inez Davis of Coleman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Susie Davis and Perry and Shelia Davis all of Coleman; one sister, Charlie Mae Boatright of Coleman; 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several aunts and uncles and neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, and one daughter, Marla Crowder.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bessie Kimmell, age 93, of Abilene and formerly of Coleman, died Sunday (March 11, 2001) at Sears Methodist Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kimmell was born April 29, 1907 in Gustine, Comanche County, Texas and was a daughter of Stewart Anderson Gallaway and Annie Brashear Gallaway. She moved to Coleman County as a child and lived here until moving to Abilene in 1957. On March 12, 1925 she married Thomas F. (Tom) Kimmell and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Alene Odom of Fort Worth; one son, Gene W. Kimmell of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Judy Kay Kimmell, Glinda Mae Dorsey, Linda Gay Bryce, Cheryl Ann Bleodau and Thomas F. Kimmell; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Willie Castleberry of Abilene.

She was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Kimmell in 1993 and a granddaughter, Bessie Alene Gaines in 1999.

EDNA HELMS, age 96, life-time Coleman County resident, died Wednesday (March 14, 2001) at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Burkett cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Helms was born August 19, 1904 in Burkett, Texas and was a daughter of Y. C. Boyle and Nellie Jennings Boyle. She grew up in Burkett and attended school there. On August 20, 1922 she married Jim Helms in Burkett and he preceded her in death in 1975. She moved to Coleman from Burkett in 1977. She was a dedicated homemaker and ably assisted her husband with farming and ranching. She was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Bettie Jean Helms of Abilene, Texas and Hazel Joyce Klutts and husband Barney of Lockhart, Texas; one sister, Cleta Trewitt of Belton, Texas; one brother, Otice Cleveland Boyle and wife Dora of Grandview, Texas; one grandson, Carlos J. Klutts and wife Cindy of Austin, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Brumley and husband Wayne of Austin, Brandt Klutts and wife Kim of Boerne, Texas and Clayton Morgan Klutts of Austin, Texas; three great-great grandchildren, Buddy and Ellie Brumley and Brooks Carlton Klutts.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Vanita Klutts and Jimmy Klutts.

Memorials may be made to Burkett cemetery Association, c/o Linda Brady, 1001 County Road 178, Burkett, Texas 76828.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Brumley, Brandt Klutts, Clayton Morgan Klutts, Otice Cleveland Boyle, Mike Trewitt and Tom Tapman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Roy Williams, Tommie Connelly and Chris Connelly.

COLLIN MATTHEW BARNETT, infant son of Roland and Kerri Barnett, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the family cemetery near Novice, Texas with Rev. James Posey officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Collin was born March 12, 2001 in Waco.

Survivors include his parents, Roland and Kerri Barnett of Novice, Texas; grandparents, Mike and Gloria Beets of Novice, Texas and Roland and Regina Barnett of Silver Valley, Texas; great-grandparents, Juanita Beets of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ervil and Sissy Milton of Wilmeth, Texas; aunts and uncles.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home

MARY ESTELLE CAMPBELL, age 84, of San Antonio and formerly of Coleman, died Wednesday (March 14, 2001) at Retama Manor North in San Antonio. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (March 18, 2001) at the Coleman City cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Campbell was born October 21, 1916 in Santa Anna, a daughter of Barney Burleson, Sr. and Alta Flo Flippen Burleson and the granddaughter of Charles and Estelle Flippen. She grew up and attended schools in Coleman and graduated from Shannon Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and received her B.S.N. in Public Health Nursing from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio. She married Harry G. Campbell on August 15, 1952 in San Antonio. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1999. Mrs. Campbell joined the Navy as Lieutenant 1941 and was stationed in California and Hawaii. After serving six years in the Navy, she received her teaching degree and taught in public schools during the 1960’s , retiring in 1980.

She is survived by one son, John B. Campbell of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Thomas and Ryan Campbell of San Antonio; two nephews, Micheal Burleson of Kingsland, Kelly Burleson of Austin; one niece, Andrea Burleson of Chicago, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Toni Burleson of Kingsland and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and one brother, Barney Burleson, Jr. in 1998.

NINNIE BOATRIGHT, age 91, of Coleman, died Thursday (March 22, 2001) at Coleman Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boatright was born September 6, 1909 in Melvin, Texas and was a daughter of Jess and Emma Deering Hale. She grew up in Coleman County and attended school at Hardin. In 1948 she moved to Coleman and had resided her since that time. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Erlene Barker of Coleman; two sons, Don Boatright (and wife Peggy) of Coleman and Ted Boatright of Coleman; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

SHERRIL TISDALE, age 84, of Coleman, died Thursday (March 22, 2001) at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Elm Street Church of Christ with Donald Williams and Lyndon Key officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Tisdale was born April 25, 1916 in Coleman, Texas and was a son of W. R. and Ethel Trusdale Tisdale. He grew up in Coleman and attended school here. He also attended Texas A & M University. On February 5, 1938 he married Edna Mae Sparks in Coleman. He was a dairy farmer and rancher and was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Tisdale of Coleman; one son, James Tisdale of Coleman; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hope Tisdale of Austin, Texas and Mary Yarbough of Saginaw; two brothers, Roy Tisdale of Belton and Mac Tisdale of Dickinson.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Family visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Elm Street Church of Christ, 216 W. Elm Street, Coleman, Texas 76834 or Holiday Hill Nursing Home, 425 US 153, Coleman, Texas 76834.

WARENE HARMES, age 77, of Coleman died Thursday (March 22, 2001) at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (March 26, 2001) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Jenkins officiating and Rev. Paul Smith assisting. Burial will follow in the Coleman City cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harmes was born Oct 19, 1923 in Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of Brett White and Edna Mae Welch White. She attended schools in Bangs and married James T. Harmes on August 5, 1947 in Floydada, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1998. She owned and operated the Chuck Wagon Restaurant and was a member of Community Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Gale Gray of Denver, Colorado, Bobbie Kay Winter of Bryan, Texas, Melissa and Ronnie Mayo of Coleman; two sisters-in-law, Florence Ray and Mary Harmes both of Coleman; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Quinn of Coleman and Eddie Terry of Las Cruces, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends including Dago and Tom Alexander, Chris Haigood and Sherry Hairgood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Anita Terry, in 1998.

Family visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
