TISHIE "SPEEDY" CULLINS, age 70, of Coleman, died Saturday (May 26, 2001) at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 29, 2001) at Coleman City cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cullins was born May 9, 1931 in Gaines County, Texas and was a daughter of John E. Lackey and Daisy Lavada Johnson Lackey. She grew up in Seminole and Lamesa. On May 1, 1949 she married
James F. Cullins in San Angelo. She lived in several West Texas towns, including Ozona from 1972-1979, and moved to Coleman twelve years ago. She had been a waitress and cashier in restaurants and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James F. Cullins of Coleman; one sister, Billie Abshier of Abilene, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Cullins, in 1991.
MARCIE MEERS, age 42, of Abilene, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at M. D. Anderson in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Beltway Baptist Church, 4009 Beltway South in Abilene, with Rev. David McQueen officiating. Burial will follow at the Coleman City cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Beltway Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
Marcie was born May 1, 1959 in Abilene, Texas and was the daughter of Wayne and Dollie Sparkman. She grew up in Midland and graduated from Midland High School in 1977. On November 3, 1984 she married
Monte Meers in Abilene. She had lived in Abilene for many years. She was a member of Beltway Baptist Church and the Emmaus Community.
Survivors include her husband, Monte Meers of Abilene; two sons, Bryan Meers and Nic Meers both of Abilene; one daughter, Sabrina Meers of Abilene; her mother, Dollie Sparkman of Coleman; two brothers, Bill Sparkman of College Station and Darwin Sparkman of San Antonio; four nephews and one niece.
Memorials may be made to any Christian outreach ministry.
Clark Mayo, age 80, of Coleman, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside services will he held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Coleman City cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Carlton Young officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Mayo was born May 17, 1921 in Oklahoma and was the son of H. G. and Mabel Brothers Mayo. He grew up in Roosevelt, Oklahoma and attended school there. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. In 1953 he moved to Coleman and had lived here since that time. He was a carpenter and a Baptist. Survivors include one brother, Burnard Mayo of Big Spring, Texas; sister-in-law, Carrie Mayo of New Boston, Texas; three nieces; two nephews.
E. W. "SONNY" HENNIG, age 82, long-time Coleman County resident, died Thursday evening at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo following a ranch accident earlier in the evening. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Coleman City cemetery with Rev. Jeff Dean officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Sonny Hennig was born September 24, 1918 in Rowena, Runnels County, Texas and was a son of Florence Hennig and Hilda Straach Hennig. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by his grandparents in Lowake and graduated from high school at Paint Rock. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was married
to Jo Browning on Thanksgiving Day, 1944 at the Lutheran Church in Rowena. Prior to his army service, he ranched in Concho and Runnels Counties and following his discharge from the army, he ranched in Coleman County until the time of his death. He was a long-time member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Hennig of Glen Cove; two sons, Bill and wife Bonnie Hennig of Glen Cove and Andy and wife Jean Hennig of Abilene; one granddaughter, Marilyn and husband Jody Crowe of Brownwood; one brother, Clarence Hennig of Lowake, Texas; three sisters, Vera Braun (pron. Brown) of Reno, NV, Leora Herring of Grosbeck, Texas and Marie Hennig of Austin, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

ESSIE DAVENPORT, age 87, of Coleman, died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2001 at Coleman City cemetery Pavilion. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davenport was born September 23, 1913 in Coleman, Texas and was the daughter of Modie and Martha Cope Hughes. She grew up in Coleman County and attended school at Loss Creek. She was married
to O. A. Armstrong in 1931 and to Clarence Davenport in 1978. She worked as a clerk at Anthony’s and J. C. Penney’s and also worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Coleman. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Davenport of Coleman; one daughter, Maxie Armstrong Morris of Coleman; four grandchildren, Perry Armstrong of Sweetwater, Danny (and wife Lindi) Armstrong of Coleman, Marcia Armstrong of Coleman and Misty (and husband Jerry) Johnson of Coleman; eight great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Armstrong, in 1999.

ATHELENE QUINN, age 80, of Coleman, died Monday (July 9, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Quinn was born October 31, 1920 in McCulloch County, Texas and was a daughter of David L. and Ruby Willbanks Snodgrass. She moved to Coleman County as a small child and graduated from Coleman High School in 1938 and attended Mary Hardin Baylor College. On August 2, 1939 she married
J. W. Quinn, Jr. in Coleman. She and her husband farmed and ranched in Coleman County. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, a charter member of the Town and Country Garden Club, Mutual Improvement Club, President of the South Ward PTA several years and formerly was a Den Mother for Pack #26. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Council, served as President of the United Methodist Women, was a member of the Bettie Morris Circle and the Dunson Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, J. W. Quinn, Jr.; two sons, James D. (and wife Shelley) Quinn and Franklin W. Quinn all of Coleman; one daughter, Mary Jo Quinn Reynolds (and husband John) of Sierra Madre, California; grandchildren, Jill Marice Thornton of Fort Worth, Andrea Renea Quinn of San Marcos, Texas; Chris Goodwin (and wife Nanniece) of Alvarado, Texas; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Zena Goodwin.

W. N. "Newt" Bains died July 12, 2001, in Midland, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2001 at Talpa cemetery in Talpa, Texas, with Pastor Stan Whites of Rankin, Texas officiating. Marie White in Winters, Texas on October 26, 1940. They resided in Talpa, Texas from 1940 to 1995. They resided at Christian Village in San Angelo, Texas until December 1998, at which time they moved to Midland. Newt worked for Mabee Oil and ranched in Talpa, and was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Talpa. Newt is survived by his wife - Marie Bains of Midland; his daughter Ludie Rudolph and husband Wayne of Fort Worth; his son Roger Bains and wife Karen of Rankin; his grandson Bradley Bains and wife Cheryl of Midland and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brensen Bains; his sister Dorothy Howerton of Hico, Texas and numerous nieces and
AUBREY LEO FEELER, age 73, of Abilene and formerly of Voss and Coleman, died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at Coronado Nursing Center in Abilene. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday (July 16, 2001) at Talpa cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Feeler was born December 6, 1927 in Valera, Texas, a son of Aubrey Ophia Feeler and Susan Era Lee Thomason Feeler. He was raised in Voss and attended schools in Voss, Mozelle and Howard-Payne University in Brownwood. He was born with physical problems that kept him in and out of the Scottish-Rite Hospital until he was thirteen years old . He helped on the family farm and was a former member of the Voss Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sisters, Ila Pearl Witt of Oklahoma, Willeen Roberts and Nita Holtz of Abilene, Hazel Burns of Breckenridge; one brother, Edward Thomas Feeler of Clyde; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Feeler was preceded in death by his parents.
Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday (July 15, 2001) at the funeral home.

J. D. "TUBBY" GRIMES, age 62, of Novice, died Monday (July 16, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Baker Rudolph officiating. Burial will follow at Rough Creek cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Tubby Grimes was born October 12, 1938 in Coleman County, Texas and was the son of Johnson Grimes and Vera Cunningham Grimes. He grew up in the Novice area and graduated from Novice High School. On February 24, 1962 he married
Nancy Nixon in Blanket, Texas. He lived in Midland for nine years, returning to Novice twenty four years ago. He was a rancher and a contract pumper. He was a member of the Novice United Methodist Church and was Chief of the Novice Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Grimes of Novice; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Robbie Grimes of Ovalo, Texas; one sister, Jane Matthews of Honey Grove, Texas; three grandchildren, Jenna, J. D. and Rainie Grimes all of Ovalo; a cousin, Dorothy Webster of Coleman.
Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

CHET HOLCOMBE, age 93, of Coleman, died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Santa Anna cemetery with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating and Masonic graveside rites. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Holcombe was born August 14, 1907 in Coleman and was the son of W. C. and Ethelyn Gordon Holcombe. He grew up in Coleman and attended school here. On June 18, 1939 he married
Lula Jo Harvey and she preceded him in death on July 1, 1995. He lived in Wink, Bronte and Denver City and returned to Coleman in 1972. He was a district field gauger for Atlantic Pipeline. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Lou Holcombe of Odessa, Texas; one granddaughter, Susan (and husband Mark) Jones of Willow Park, Texas.
Family visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pamalee Movera, died June 2, 2001 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was buried at Forest Lawn, in Cypress, California on June 7, 2001. A memorial service will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Born in Coleman in 1938, she moved to Long Beach, California when she was eight years old. Survivors include: her husband - Lawrence Movera; her daughters - Connie Jane Hopkins, Ann Marie Hopkins, Susan Berneice Hopkins, Patricia Struntz; her sons - Larry Movera and Tony Movera. Her immediate family all lives in Long Beach. Local survivors include: her uncles - Benjamin Wilson, Jr. and Roland Jameson of Coleman.
A graveside memorial service for Jack Rowe of Lubbock will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001 at the Coleman City cemetery Pavilion with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Jack Rowe died February 24, 2000 and his body was donated to Texas Tech University School of Medicine for medical research. He was born May 5, 1921 in Santa Anna. He married
Gerene Revel in 1940. MILDRED EPPLER JONES, age 79 of Coleman, died Thursday (July 26, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Mildred was born November 4, 1921 in Hamilton County, Texas, a daughter of Edwin R. and Cornelia A. Havens Eppler. She was raised in Hamilton County and moved to Coleman County in 1936. She graduated from school in Rockwood and married
Sam Jones on February 15, 1940 in Coleman. She was a homemaker, gardener, fisherman and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Sam Jones of Coleman; children, Wanda Whitton of Kermit, Texas, Kenneth Jones of Canyon Lake, Texas, Brenda Ainsworth and Cindie Jones Preston both of Odessa; one brother, Wenton Eppler of Fort Worth; one sister Mabel Eppler Williams of Coleman; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Patsy Jones Stack, three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
