WAYNE L. CAGLE, age 86, of Coleman, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the Winchell cemetery, Brown County, Texas, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Wayne was born June 29, 1919 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas, a son of Plez and Edna McBee Cagle. He grew up in Arkansas and attended school there. Wayne lived in Brownwood for a number of years where he worked as the Materials Manager at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. On May 26, 1984 he married Sybil Watson in Coleman and had resided here since that time. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sybil Cagle of Coleman; one son, Gerald Cagle of Mobile, Alabama; two daughters, Faye Macik of Elkhart, Indiana and Donna Buchanon of Orland Park, Illinois; three step-children, Becky Ellison and David Watson both of Waco, Texas and Doug Watson of Salt City, Utah; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edina Martin of Mabank, Texas, Sara Brooks of Tye, Texas, Mary Berry of Salado, Texas and Jane Egger of Brownwood, Texas.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Willie Cagle, Raymond Cagle, Gene Cagle and Pauline Whitley.

Family visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

DON DUNCAN, age 75, of Coleman and former Abilene resident, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Don Duncan was born August 23, 1930 in Coleman, Texas, the son of Ralph and Daisy Duncan. He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1947. He graduated from University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Don lived in California before moving to Abilene where he lived for a number of years. While living in Abilene he owned and operated a public relations firm and was a graphic designer. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Kiwanis Club in Abilene. After moving to Coleman he was a member of the United Christian and Presbyterian Church where he was the choir director. For the past several years he was the organist at the First United Methodist Church in Coleman. Don had also worked at Dillards in Abilene in the Men's Department.

Survivors include one cousin, Betty Garrett of Coleman; special friends, Marylea Henderson of Waco, Pat Henderson Fritz of Houston, Merle McClellan, Virginia Taylor, Margie Duncan all of Coleman, Betty and Bob Thrasher of Temple, M’Lane Ellis and children of Cross Plains.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Choir Fund, P. O. Box 852, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

CARL P. MATTHEWS, age 82, of Coleman, died Friday, December 9, 2005 at Coleman County Medical Center. The service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Martin officiating. Private interment will be held at the Gouldbusk cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas.

Carl P. Matthews was born July 12, 1923 in Leaday, Coleman County, Texas, a son of Joe and Vivian Cohea Matthews. He grew up in Leaday and graduated from Mozelle High School. On March 16, 1946 he was married to Delma Martin. He lived in Odessa for many years where he was a production foreman in the oil and gas industry. He moved to Coleman in 1986 and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Delma Matthews of Coleman; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Matthews and David Dismukes of Waco, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted Matthews and wife Betsy King of Anson, Texas; one grandson, Matthew King; two brothers, Lester and Willie Matthews both of Coleman; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death his parents and a sister, Ruth Row.

Family visitation will be held on Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Virginia Baker, age 71, of Coleman, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Golden Age Manor in Dublin. Funeral services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.

Lucille Sorrells, age 80 of Santa Anna, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services are pending with Stevens Funeral Home.

PATRICIA GUY ORTIZ, age 50, of Coleman, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005 in Coleman. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Patricia Guy on December 11, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of Dorothy Sexton Guy and the late John Guy. She grew up in Petersburg, Virginia where she attended school. She was married to Bennie Sendejas and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1994. She moved to Coleman twelve years ago and was a homemaker. She grew up in the Baptist church.

Survivors include two daughters, Karla Jane Morris of Eunice, NM and Patricia Ellen Ortiz of Coleman; her mother, Dorothy Guy of Coleman; five grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Joseph, Katie, Monica; three brothers, Daryl Leroy Guy of Virginia, Gary Lynn Guy of Jacksonville, FL and David Payton Guy of Coleman; one sister, Johna Sue Aechternacht of Rockett, TX; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Colleen Moore in 1997.

Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

Willard Orville Allen, 76, of Santa Anna, Texas died Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Canyon Lake, Texas. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Anna with Pat McClatchy and Gary Boyd officiating. The body will be cremated. Cremation is under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman, Texas.

He was born on March 24, 1929 in Coleman County, Texas to Orville Slaton Allen and Bertha Copeland Allen. He grew up in Coleman County, raised cattle and sold ranching equipment. He married Jo Ann Hambright on February 22, 1949 in Coleman. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Anna, member of the Gideons worked with 4-H and F.F.A. and was Coleman County Commissioner of Precinct 1.

He is survived by his wife: Jo Ann Allen of Santa Anna; three sons, Miles Allen of Florence, Tom Allen of Big Spring and Russell Allen of Andrews; one daughter: Melody Griffith of Alvord; one brother: James Allen of Santa Anna; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

LaNell Williams, age 56, of Coleman, died Friday, August 5, 2005 at Coleman County Medical Center. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 8 at Shields cemetery with Paul Hayes officiating and assisted by Sam Wilson. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born LaNell Lewis on September 17, 1948 in Lamesa, Texas, a daughter of Lowell Burton Lewis and Tennie Viola Gilmore Lewis. She grew up in Eastland County and attended school at Carbon. She lived in Eula from 1972 until 1992 when she moved to Coleman. On March 25, 1993 she married Johnny L. Williams in Brownwood. She was a housewife and a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny L. Williams of Coleman; one son, Donnie Culwell and wife Rhonda of Sylvester; two daughters, Kathy Mays and husband Tony of Clyde, Kristi Williams and husband Jimmy of Coleman; step-son, Jason Williams of Abilene; step-daughter, Joy White and husband Bobby of Odessa; one brother, Ward Lewis and wife Lavonda of Talpa; one sister, Lorene Lewis of Jonestown; mother-in-law, Pauline Williams of Coleman; five grandchildren, Joshua Mays, Colton Mays, Quaid Mays, Kaci Williams, Coby Williams; three step-grandchildren, Tyler Nevels, Ashlea Nevels, Cameron White; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Polk, in 2005.

Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Darrell Wayne Johnson, age 48 of Hawley, passed away Monday, July 25, 2005 at his home from cancer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Posey officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Best known as "Tot" and "Boy", Darrell was born April 24, 1957 in Coleman, the son of Harvey and Frances Horton Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Coleman. He married Kathy Baldock on December 1, 1978 in Coleman. He worked at Dal-Tile and in the oil field as a floor hand. He lived in Brownwood before moving to Hawley. He was a loving husband, Daddy and PaPaw and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Johnson of Hawley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica and Wade Tucker of Hawley, Chrystle and Richard Steffey, Jr. of Coleman; four brothers, Larry Johnson and wife Donna, of Coleman, Bobby Johnson of Coleman, Earl Johnson and wife Cindy, of Coleman, Jimmy Johnson and wife Denise of Coleman; two sisters, Carolyn Payne and husband Gary, of Coleman, Linda Burton and husband Chris, of Coleman; two granddaughters, Shantel Tucker, Christy Steffey of Coleman; several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father on March 2, 2005, his mother on April 5, 2005, one sister and two brothers.

PHERIABA A. FARMER, age 96, died Monday, July 25, 2005 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Miller officiating. Interment icon will be in Coleman City cemetery.

She was born Pheriaba Anita Shields on August 15, 1908 in White Chapel, Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of the late William Campbell (Cam) Shields and Bertha Hamilton Shields. She grew up in Novice and graduated from high school there. She graduated from college and taught school at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD. On August 4, 1929 she married James Lee Farmer and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2000. Pheriaba was a member and past matron of the Eastern Star, a member of Retired Teachers Association, AARP and a former Delta Kappa Gamma member. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Chapel Sunday School Class.

Survivors include one brother, Charles Shields of Sun City, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Doris M. Shields of San Antonio, Texas; five nieces and nephews.

VIOLA POND, age 91, former Glen Cove resident, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 in San Angelo. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 25 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Seigler, her son-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Cove cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Viola Mildred Reeves on January 14, 1914 in Marysville, Cook County, Texas, a daughter of Arbin M. Reeves and Lillie Mae Wood Reeves. She grew up and attended school in Marysville. On July 28, 1929 she married Rev. Thurman L. Pond in Marysville and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1999. Mrs. Pond was a pastor’s wife for almost 70 years and lived in various places in West Texas and New Mexico. She was a leader and long-time member of the WMU and was a member of Glen Cove Baptist Church. She moved to Baptist Memorials in San Angelo in April 1998.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Doris Jean and Don Seigler of San Angelo; three sisters, Sue Stewart and husband Albert of San Angelo, Esther Pearl Hardin of Jal, NM and Jessie Fay Cole and husband Ray of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law, Dottie Pond of Glen Cove, Texas; three grandchildren, Gerald Leslie Pond of Glen Cove, Texas, Terry Dale Seigler of Springdale, Arkansas and Timothy Don Seigler of Albuquerque, NM; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Doyle Ray, Leslie Lemoin and Walter Pond.

Memorials may be made to Baptist Memorials Hospice, 903 N. Main, San Angelo, Texas 76903.

Felipe Vasquez, age 83 of Coleman, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Steve Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Ranch cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Vasquez was born May 1, 1922 in Burnet, Texas, the youngest of 13 children, to Juan and Elaine Vasquez. He grew up in Coleman County and married Clara Fuentes on August 15, 1959 in Ballinger. He worked on various ranches in Coleman County.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Vasquez of Coleman, one son, Israel Vasquez of Coleman; two nieces, Ruby Trevino of Coleman, Juanita Nieto of Marble Falls; great-niece, Isabel Garza of Winters; great-nephew, David Trevino of Little Rivers Academy, Texas and two great-great nephews, Stephen Tyler Garza of Winters and Isaac Trevino of Coleman.

He was preceded in death by one son, Theodore Vasquez and 12 brothers and sisters.

A prayer service with family visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
