Lela Roberta Horn
Lela Roberta Horn, 70, of Junction, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, in San Antonio following an illness.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry Airey and husband, Guy, of San Antonio, Dixie Burge and husband, Gary, of Victoria and Suzette Condrey and husband, Randy, of Junction; two brothers, Jack and Ray Cornell and a sister, Nelda Phillips, and six grandchildren.
A rosary was held on Friday, March 28, in Aubrey Fife Funeral Chapel. A mass was held on Saturday, March 29, at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church in Junction. Burial followed in Junction cemetery.
Edna Warren
Edna Warren was born September 30, 1911, to William Maybury Winslett and Lottie Cordellia Cabler Winslett in Mountain Home. She was raised with five brothers: Leslie L. Winslett, Frank C. Dagen, James W. Dagen, John L. Dagen, and Carlton C. Dagen. She attended schools in Kimble County.
Edna, affectionately known to all as Honey, married
G.B. (Boots) Warren January 23, 1931, in Junction. They had three children; Henry Earl, William Clint and Carolyn Sue.
Honey was a devoted homemaker and an excellent cook. No one could top her wonderful glazed donuts. She excelled as a seamstress and with her beautiful needle work. She made beautiful afghans for all her children, her grandchildren and many other family members and friends. She was active and supportive in all her children’s school activities, and had a deep love for all her family and friends. The annual family reunion was a special occasion and highlight for her to be with her loved ones.
Her first love was God, Jesus and the church. Her most treasured and dearest friends are the members of the Ladies Bible Class and the beloved church family of the Cedar Hill Church of Christ where she was an active and devoted member for about 39 years.
She was baptized in London in the summer of 1926. She rarely missed a service or church activity until failing health curtailed her regular attendance and participation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Boots, brothers, Leslie Winslett, John L. Dagen, Frank C. Dagen, Carlton C. Dagen; son Henry Earl Warren and daughter Carolyn Sue Warren Marshall.
Survivors include one son, Clint Warren and wife, Donna, of Farma, Idaho; daughter-in-law and devoted caregiver, Judy Warren of Cedar Hill; son-in-law, Lyons Marshall of Marshall; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, James W. Dagen and wife, Jean, of Fredericksburg; and sisters-in-law, Muriel Winslett of Junction, Dorothy Dagen of Garland, Barbara Rodgers of Rochelle and Joyce Hughes of San Antonio; numerous nephews and nieces and cousins and a host of friends, and her church family, all of whom she loved dearly
A memorial service for Honey was held on Saturday, April 5, at the Cedar Hill Church of Christ at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
Adela Schulze
Adela Schulze of Mason passed away on Sunday, April 6, at the age of 91. She was born August 27, 1911, in Fredericksburg to John C. Durst and Alvina Fischer Durst. She married
Wallace Schulze on November 8, 1933, and he preceded her in death last year. For most of their married
life they lived in western Mason County where they ranched.
She is survived by her son, Ken Schulze and wife, Ann, of Hext, and her daughter, Susan Hawkins, and husband, Linwood, of Junction; three grandchildren, Terry Schulze, Lindsey Hawkins and Kyle Hawkins. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Leanna Reynolds, Alan Daniel, Dan Daniel and their spouses; seven step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Adela Schulze were held Tuesday, April 8, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason with Rev. Jim McClain officiating. Interment
followed in the Gooch cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Curtis Schulze, Clinton Schulze, Stanley Toeppich, Paul Lehmberg, Melvin Itz, and Franklin Brandenberger.
Honorary pallbearers were Daymond Brandenberger, Jerry Dutton, Gary Schmidt, Silas Brandenberger, Lawrence Benton, Clay Lindsay and members of the Sunshine Sunday school class.
Funeral services were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.
Mary Lucille Crosby
Mary Lucille Crosby, 90, passed away Monday, May 3, 2004, at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Clear Lake. She was a long-time resident of Baytown.
Mrs. Crosby was born in Neches, on July 27, 1913, to Charles and Mattie Ashmore Minton. On September 20, 1933, she married
Herman Lee Crosby in Baytown.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, at Memory Gardens in Baytown.
Mrs. Crosby was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth M. Crosby and wife, Mary, of Baytown; two daughters, Myrna J, Goodall and husband, Bill, of Roosevelt and Vivian L, Morgan and husband, Don, of League City; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, with Rev. Kenneth Goodell officiating.
Arlma Audrey “Sis” Hurley Hilton
Arlma Audrey “Sis” Hurley Hilton, who was born November 2, 1921, in Coke County, passed away Monday, May 3, 2004, at a Kerrville nursing home. She was predeceased by her husband, Andy Hilton, and her parents, E.J. and Mozel Hurley.
She is survived by four children, Nancy Randle of Ingram; Sue Jordan of Dallas; Carl St. Sinclair and wife, Dana, of Iraan; Patricia Stapp and husband, Gene, of Junction; two sisters, Delia “Sissie” Broyles of Junction and Jo Vardeman of San Angelo; two brothers,Calvin “Son” Hurley and Bobby Hurley, both of Junction; also,12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Junction cemetery, Junction, Texas. Richard Horne of Liberty Hill, will officiate.
Arrangements are by Gentry-Fife Funeral Home.
Kolt Russell Keith
Kolt Russell Keith was born on February 17, 1986, in Kerrville. He passed away on June 4, 2004, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
While on this earth for a time, far shorter than his family would have liked, Kolt lived life to its fullest. He truly believed in the motto "Live It Up" and tried hard to convince all those who loved him to do the same.
He began his life in Junction. It was here that he gained an appreciation for the outdoors. Later, he lived and attended school in Groesbeck.
Kolt developed into an athlete and was an avid sports lover. He was a gifted athlete whose time on the field and on the court was too short. He enjoyed all of the activities associated with the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, climb, and camp. To remember Kolt is to remember him being active in the outdoors.
He loved his friends. If Kolt called you his friend, you knew you could count on him for anything. Most of all, Kolt Russell loved his family and his family loved him.
Kolt is survived by his parents, Rusty and Brenda Keith of Bentonville; three brothers, Brandon and Hunter of Bentonville, and Dustin of Cisco; his grandparents, Lloyd and Shirley Keith of Elm Springs, Arkansas, and John and Sherry Bouman of Navarro Mills; and great-grandparents Ennis and Laverne Jetton of Junction. Kolt Russell also left behind aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to list who loved him dearly. He was a truly wonderful person who touched the lives of many different people.
Visitation will be held at Mason Funeral Home from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 10. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Mason with Rev. Bob Cheatheam officiating. Burial will follow in the Cavaness cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Charlie Adams and Jeff Salas of Springdale, AR., Matthew Harris, Travis Hancock and Travis McCurry of Bentonville, AR., Mike Koch and Luke Durbin of Bella Vista, AR., John Bouman and James Bouman of Alaska; Red Griffin of Eldorado, James Gentry of Byers, CO., and Calvin Flowers of Groesbeck.

George W. Justice
Mr. George W. Justice, 69, of Junction, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2003, in an Abilene hospital following a sudden illness.
Mr. Justice was born in Polk County, North Carolina, on March 15, 1934, and was raised in Edneyville, North Carolina.
He moved with his family to Sanford, Florida, and at the age of 15 he quit school and went to work as a truck driver.
In 1956, George was drafted into the US Army, serving in Germany with E Company, 2nd Battalion, 11th Armored Cavalry.
In 1981, Mr. Justice purchased the Segovia Truck Stop, which he owned and operated until his death.
He was a member of Riverview Lodge #306, A.F. & A.M. in Jacksonville Florida, and was a Shriner.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at Graham Funeral Home with Mr. Daryl Geller officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 6, at Mountain Home Baptist Church cemetery in Edneyville, North Carolina.
Survivors include a son, George W. Justice, Jr. of Athens, Georgia; his mother, Rollie Justice of Denton; two sisters, Vivian Chism of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Patsy Justice of Highland Village; a grandson, Troy Justice of Athens, Georgia; a long time companion, Linda Doyal of Junction; and a number of nieces and nephews.
With burial in North Carolina, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in the form of contributions to the Shriner's hospitals: Suez Temple, 2915 Loop 306, San Angelo, Texas 76904.
LaVerne Schaezler
LaVerne Schaezler, 74, passed away November 30, 2003, at Kimble Hospital in Junction. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 4, at the Junction Christian Fellowship Church, led by Pastor Dean Holford of Port Lavaca and under the direction of Gentry-Fife Funeral Home. Interment
will be in the Knights of Pythias cemetery in San Antonio at 4 p.m. the same day.
She was born August 14, 1929, to Arthur and Charlotte Schaezler in San Antonio. In her youth, LaVerne made several recordings and went to Nashville. She was an excellent bowler and won several championships.
After graduating from TWU in Denton, she became a school teacher and taught in Port Arthur, San Antonio and Rocksprings before moving to Junction in 1977 to teach.
LaVerne especially loved teaching music and P.E. to her many students. She was a member of Junction Christian Fellowship Church whose members enjoyed her musical talents as she led them in praise and worship.
When she moved to Junction, she made her home by the river a sanctuary for her family, friends and the wildlife she loved so much. LaVerne will be greatly missed.
LaVerne is survived by her mother, Charlotte Schaezler of San Antonio; two brothers, Gene Schaezler of Spring and Duane Schaezler of Arlington; nieces and nephews, Michael, John and Patricia Schaezler, Todd Crackel and Dana Turley.
Walter Jones Johnson
Walter Jones Johnson was born August 29, 1928 in High Plains, Kentucky. He married
Doris Jean Horsley on December 8, 1951.
He passed away November 11, 2003, in Junction where he had lived for the past year and a half.
Walter joined the United States Air Force December 13, 1950. After serving his country for twenty-four years, he retired June 30, 1974. He received several commendations and medals. Walter spent the last four years of his service career as a recruiting officer at Angelo State University.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother, Lloyd Johnson.
Walter is survived by three sons, Walter Johnson and wife, Becky, of Junction, Larry Johnson of Hereford and David Johnson of Amarillo; one daughter, Shirley Dunn of Lakeland, Florida; two brothers, Ronnie Johnson and Darrell Johnson both of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Donny, Wayne, Clifford, Telena, Desiree, Sabrina, Heather and Heath. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Our “Pappa” will be greatly missed.
Lucy Ann Ball
Lucy Ann Ball, 96, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003.
Lucy was born in Lexington on November 4, 1907. Graveside services were held at Junction cemetery on Friday, November 14, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ron Van Der Weert of the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings officiating.
She is survived by one daughter, Geneva Ann Guthrie of Rocksprings; one son, R.V. Ball of Clarksville, Tennessee; one grandson, James Warren Guthrie of LaGrange and one granddaughter, Katherine Ann Wilson of Johnson City.
Other survivors include seven great-grandchildren, David and Dana Wilson, Michael Guthrie, Nicki Guthrie, Jason Guthrie, James Hobbs and Kally Hobbs.
Services were under the direction of Crofts Funeral Home of Johnson City.
Nolan F. McBee
Nolan F. McBee, 74, of Radium Springs, New Mexico, died Monday, November 10, 2003. He was born December 21, 1928, in Segovia, to John McBee and Jewel Bowers McBee. Nolan was a retired hearing aid specialist; he owned Crosby Hearing Aid Service. He was also a jack-of-all-trades and a master of most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Nolan is survived by his mother, Jewel Stewart, of Radium Springs, New Mexico, two daughters, Linda Kordizkowski and husband, Bob, of Chico, California and Beth Duff and husband, James, of Radium Springs; grandchildren Paul Kordizkowski, Bob Kordizkowski and wife, Lisa, Michele Bartlett and husband, Jerry, Judy Mendes and husband, Jorge, Cindy Medeiros and husband, Brian, James Schmidt and Sheila Bennett and husband, Israel; great-grandchildren Jessica and Zane Medeiros, Emily Jewel, Jerry Bartlett III, Christopher and Sarah Bartlett, Jessica, Erin and Reese Kordzikowski, Justin and Jared Mendes.
Nolan was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille McBee, and second wife, Fran Crosby McBee.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 14, at Getz Funeral Home.

Viola “Sis” Andrews
Viola .Sis. Andrews, 92, passed from this world April 15, 2007. She was born September 1, 1914, in Mason County. Sis married
Jake Andrews May 20, 1934, and they enjoyed almost 57 years of marriage. Both enjoyed the outdoors. Sis was an avid hunter. Her greatest pleasure was family and friends. Sis was predeceased by her husband, Jake, mother, Lillie, father, Rob, brothers, Glen and Baze Cavaness and sister, Arlene Wagner. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday, April 18, at Gentry-Fife Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Alan Tullis officiating. Burial was in Junction cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Larry Harrison, Tom Johnston, Rob Roy Spiller, Bruce Stewart, Wilford Wagner and Hayden Woodard. The family asked that Jesse Cavaness, Buz Hull, Gerald Loeffler and Vicente Menchaca be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
