Died : February 7, 2004
Ida passed away Saturday February 7, in a local care center. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 10:00am in the Gentry-Fife Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Junction cemetery.
Survivors include one sone, Gerald Curtis, three daughters, Norene Herbst, Elsie Murr and Elaine Carpenter all of Junction. Three sisters, Irene Hurst of Kerrville, Marie Brandt of Kerrville and Merle Berkham of Ft. Worth, 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Jennifer Raye Raley
16 Years of Age
Died : December 24, 2003
Funeral services were held Friday, December 26, 2003 at 2:00PM at First Baptist Church in Junction, Brother Morris Cook officiated. Burial followed at Junction cemetery.
Jennifer was born May 29, 1987 in Kerrville, Texas to Olan and Judy Raley. She lived in Junction all of her life. She was a member of JHS class of 2005. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. Jennifer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Junction.
Jennifer was known for her bright smile and unforgettable laugh. Jennifer was very outspoken but was also very caring and compassionate. She won any argument before it ever started. She loved her family as well as her friends. Brother Morris stated that Jennifer made quite an art out of cruising. She loved music and enjoyed reading. Jennifer was also creative with crafts. Jennifer has touched so many lives in such a special way that we could never forget.
Survivors include her parents Olan and Judy Raley; one brother Phillip "Clint" Risinger; one sister Jeanna Risinger; two nieces Shelby Williams and Lexie Risinger; her grandfather Aubrey Johnson, all of Junction; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.O. and Minnie Raley and her grandmother Betty Johnson.
Pallbearers were David Alvarado, Roy Gibb Boone, Winston Mackie, Seth Massie, Micah Meador and Wesley Gene "Wes" Rowe.
Patricia Elizabeth "Beth" Wright
75 Years of Age
Died : February 16, 2004
Beth was born March 17, 1928 to Walter Lindsay and Loma Turman Lindsay in San Antonio. Beth and Preston Wright were married
September 15, 1947 in Kerrville then made their home in Junction.
Beth loved beautiful things and she provided them to our town for 46 years by gifting us with flowers from her business "Lindsay's" which she operated with her mother Loma Lindsay and her daughter Becky Hart. It is a gift she also shared with her granddaughter Lindsay Ensley. Beth was a director on Kimble Hospital board for many years.
Beth is survived by her husband Preston, Daughter Becky, and Granddaughter Lindsay and Great-granddaughter Kinlee Beth.
Graveside Services will be 10:30am Thursday February 19, 2004 in Junction Cemetary.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Hoggett, Keith Boone, Jimmy Jones, Jackie Jones, Charles Hagood and Greer Kothmann.
Nancy Ethel Mears Spiller
Born : March 3, 1905
Died : February 19, 2004
Ranchwoman Nancy Ethel Mears Spiller passed away February 17, 2004 at her daughter Nancy Smith's home in Gatesville, Texas.
Internment will be at the Spiller Ranch at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 19, 2004 with memorial services at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction following at 4:00pm with the Reverends Jim and Laurie Baker officiating.
Ethel was born March 3, 1905 to ed and Emma Wilkinson Mears in Menard, Texas. She attended Menard schools and graduated from the Miss Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas in 1924. She married
Roy Spiller in Menard in 1925 and they ranched together for 54 years on their ranch in Kimble County until his death in 1979.
She loved ranch life and livestock. She and her sister Mabel were in charge of the remuda on the Ft. Terrell Ranch in Sutton County when their father had it leased several years during the early teens, and many times they rode horseback down the River Road to Roosevelt just for a soda pop.
She was one of the first Suffolk sheep breeders in Kimble County during the 1940's and was the first Beefmaster Cattle Breeder in the county beginning in 1965. Some of the many organizations she was involved in through the years include the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, Cactus Study Club, A&M Mothers Club, and the Sew and Sew club of Cleo. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Junction since 1938.
Ethel was a great lover of family, friends, travel and life itself. Whether she was playing solitaire at the ranch, traveling across the world, or helping with goat shearing, Itey (as she was called by her family) always had a good time and was ready for another. Her wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude kept her surrounded by friends and loved ones. She was the heart of her family and will be so greatly missed.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Spiller, her parents, sister Camilla, Sister Melba Vanderstruken and her husband Joseph of Sonora, brother Ed Mears and wife Kate of Menard, son-in-law Charlie Wright of Plano, grandson Robert Mears Wright, nieces Jan Vanderstrucken and Jane Mears Hall.
Survivors include daughters Rilla Wright of Plano, Nancy Smith and husband Randy of Gatesville, and Dr Sandra Wolf and husband Dr. Mont Wolf of Lawrence, Kansas. A son, Rob Roy Spiller and his wife B. Lee of Junction, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Greer kothmann, John Ball, Jim Banowsky, Kenneth Bannowsky, L.R. Hawkins, Byran Booth, Gene Simons, David Dobbins, Tony Hall and Brodie Caudle.
Honorary Pallbearers are Chares Hagood, Hayden Woodard, Jo Ella Bolt, Ward Whitworth, Mary Craven, Kathryn Kothmann, Pam McPhail, John Cashman, Patrica Borland, Edith Allen, Judy Chenault, Tom Johnston, Johnny Sissel and Katherine Massie, all of Junction. Bill Wilkinson, of Menard, Johnny Winslow and Robert Sieker of Kerrville, Red Spiller of Eden, and John Cornish and Eddie Mears of Austin, Jack Jarvis of Austin, Melinda Bradford of Austin and Jo Bess Jackson of Dallas. Also, two special family friends, Sally (Blackie) Huffman of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Jackie Crumbley of Anchorage, Alaska.

Myrle Ward Tuckness
105 Years of Age
Died : February 19, 2004
Myrle Tuckness left this world peacefully at the wonderful age of 105 years on February 19, 2004 in Junction. She has left behind lots of family and close friends who will miss her stories, her cooking and her sense of humor.
Services held on Saturday February 21,2004 at 11:00am.
Myrle was one of twin girls born on August 9, 1898 to William D. and Hattie House Ward in Rosebud, Texas located in Falls County. When Myrle was 4 years-old, the Wards loaded a wagon and made the long journey to Waldrip in McCulloch County. There they settled near the banks of the Colorado River. Myrle had many fond memories of the home place. For several years, the Wards rotated their places of residence between McCulloch and Concho Counties. While living in the community of Wellview in Concho County. Myrle met and married
Robert (Bob) Lee Tuckness, a native of Mason County. Myrle was an instant mother to Bob's two daughters and together, they became the parents of five more children, three boys and two girls. The Tuckness family moved from Mason to Kimble County in the late 1930s. Myrle saw tow sons march off to fight in the War. She became an expert restaurant cook working at the Cozy Cafe and the Las Lomas Restaurant. In 1949, Myrle became a telephone operator in Junction and continued in that profession until 1959. Until being moved to the nursing home, Myrle still kept in touch with the community through a scanner that she kept close by. Throughout her many years on this earth, Myrle maintained a home, cared for her family, worked a full-time job, and found time to enjoy her friends. Her favorite hobby was crocheting hand-crafted items for friends and family. She loved to garden and was a great cook. Myrle never let anyone leave her house hungry. When Myrle was well over 100 years of age, she still maintained her independence by living alone, albeit with some assisted living help. She kept a telephone by her chair so she could keep up with numerous family members, friends, and community news. Myrle worked hard all of her life and saw many joys and sorrows.
She is survived by a daughter, Laverne Jetton and husband Ennis; son Milton Tuckness; daughter-in-law Faye Tuckness, all of Junction; and a son-in-law Jasper Keith of Mason; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beulah Lea Keith; two sons; Robert Tuckness and Alton Tuckness; one daughter-in-law, Nita Tuckness; and two step-daughters, Thelma Elliott and Lora Elliot. Myrle was also preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters, four grandsons, and three granddaughters.
Pall bearers are Eddie Tuckness, Sam Jetton, Mark Jetton, David Tuckness, John Tuckness, Willie Jacoby, Chad Keith, Red Griffin and Rusty Keith.
Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizen's Building Fund, the First Baptist Church of Junction, or to a charity of your choice.
Peter Anthony Tulcus

Peter Anthony Tulcus, fifty-four, passed away February 20, 2004, in Junction, Texas.
Memorial services held Monday, February 23, 2004 at 1:00pm at Hill Country Baptist Church. Graveside services to follow at Junction cemetery.
Peter was born May 15, 1949, to Charles James Tulcus and Wanda J. (Smith) Tulcus, in Brownwood, Texas. He married
Linda Helen Davis, March 31, 1973. "Pete" served his country by entereing the Texas Army National Guard August 8, 1971. During his time of service, he was trained by the U.S. Army as a Radio Repair and Electronics Technician and fulfilled hhis duties in that field. he was honorably discharged, at the grade of E5 (Senior Radio Mechanic), June 23, 1977. He received his teaching certificate at the University of North Texas, in Denton (1992), and taught Building Trades in Brownwood Sr. High School in Brownwood from 1990 until 1994. Pete tested in Lampasas, TX and received his Master's Electrician License. From there he moved to Marble Falls, and served as master Electrician for the Marble Falls ISD, until Feb 2002. he later took classes in Computer Technology at UTSA. His love of electronics and computer science was evident to all who knew him. A the time of his death, he was employed at AERT in Junction.
Pete is survived by his wife, Linda Helen, his daughter-in-law Philip and Amanda Tulcus, two grandchildren Amber and Sara of Junction. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Mike, Joe, Steve, Mary, kathy, Melissa, Leo, Tim, Russell and their families. His father, mother and brother John preceded him in death..
Mary Murr Haschke
77 Years of Age
Died : February 21, 2004
Mary Murr Haschke, 77, died February 21, 2004. Services held February 23, 2004 at the Gentry-Fife Funeral Chapel with burial in the Copperas cemetery.
Mary was born in Kimble County. Mary spent most of her life in Kimble County. After graduating from Southwest Texas State University, Mary married
Jack Haschke on March 1, 1946 in San Marcos. The marriage lasted until his death 27 years later. After Jack's death, Mary was employed by the Junction ISD for 26 years until her retirement in August 2000.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents Morris and Gertrude Murr, sister Lottie Chadwick and Lottie's husband Delivan, and brothers Felix and Nat Murr.
Survivors include son Karl Haschke and wife Jennifer, daughter Sharon Bannowsky and husband Kenneth; four grandchildren: Todd Bannowslky and wife Pam, Jason Bannowsky and wife Amy, Kale and Jilian Haschke; one great-grandchild Kendall D'Shea bannowsky, Nieces are Carolyn McGuire, Nancy Slaughter, Peggy Van Mort, Linda Mueller, Donna Haschke and Jonell Haschke, Nephews are Bobby Murr, Sam Murr and Bill Haschke. Sisters-in-law are Betty Norton, Marie Murr and Colleen Haschke.
Pall Bearers were her grandchildren Todd and Jason Bannowsky, Kale and Jillian Haschke and nephews Bobby and Sam Murr.
Ailene O. McDaniel
86 Years of Age
Died : February 25, 2004
Ailene was born August 13, 1917 in Paint Rock, Texas to JB McDaniel and Vera Dalton McDaniel. She married
ZL McDaniel December 13, 1940 in San Angelo, Texas. Ailene was a homemaker and a Baptist.
A memorial service was held Saturday February 28, 2004 at 2:PM in the Gentry-Fife Funeral Home Chapel.
Survivors include her daughter Bobbye Welch of Freer; sons David McDaniel and Frankie McDaniel of Alice; a sister Dardanella Frances of San Angelo; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
James H. "Jim" Mabry
72 Years of Age
Died : March 13, 2004
Jim passed away Thursday March 11, 2004 in a Houston hospital. Graveside services will be held Saturday March 13, 2004 at 3:00 PM in Brown Family Cemetary off FM385 in Kimble County.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Whitworth Mabry of Houston; daughters Gabrielle Ann Knapp f Alvin and Mary Sue Mabry of Houston; a son Charles Mabry of Austin and grandsons Mark and James Knapp of Houston.
Curtis William Stockton Sr.
91 Years of Age
Died : March 18, 2004
Curtis William Stockton Sr passed away in the Menard Nursing Home Thursday March 18, 2004.
Graveside rights will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 21 at the Fort McKavett cemetery. Sign-in is also available at Kerbow Funeral Home in Eldorado.
Curtis was born and raised at Fort McKavett, Tx. He grew up fishing and hunting on the head of the San Saba River. he did everything from shearing sheep for pennies a head, to drilling water wells. He saw times change from running barefoot or riding horseback, to Model A's, to his old Dodge pickup.
In 1948 he married
Mary Helen Jackson. They moved to Schleicher County to begin farming and ranching. Curtis loved the birth of animals, the growth of crops, and a good garden. And if there was a good rain and flood, he "rode" his boat on the San Saba river from Fort McKavett to Menard
Curtis recently received his 50 year pin with the Masonic Lodge.
He is preceded in death by wife, Mary Helen, three brothers, Bill, Jim and Poochie, a sister Flora, and a daughter Patsy Jo Bradley. Survivors include two sons, Curtis and wife Jeannie of Houston, Curt of Menard and one daughter, Maggie Lew Middleton and husband Ronnie of Eldorado. Grandchildren are Trey Stockton and wife, Lisa of Houston, Shy Lowe, Shianne, and Lonnie Middleton of Eldorado. Great grandchildren are Will Stockton, Brees and Bray Guevara.
Honorary pallbearers are the grandsons and nephew, Sam Stockton.
