Brother Sam B. Coffey

Died : July 9, 2004
Sam B. "Brother Sam" Coffey passed away on Friday, July 9th, in Kimble Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 12 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Morris Cook officiating.
Brother Sam was raised in Austin. Sam was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and served in Korea In 1951-52.
He graduated from; University of Texas in Austin and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
He and his family moved to Junction in 1960, where he became pastor of the First Baptist Church.
He served as pastor for 36 years before retiring.
Since 1995, Bro. Sam has been the pastor emeritus for the church.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Elaine Coffey Swets of San Angelo.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Junction; one son, Michael and wife Betty, and granddaughter, Mackenzie Coffey, of Abilene, one son-in-law, Paul Swets end grandchildren, David and Julie Swets of San Angelo; one brother, James L. Coffey and wife Carle, and children, Joshua and Ethan of San Angelo; one sister, Mary Ann Hair of Austin; and several nieces, including Kathy Jendusa and Husband Bob of California; Peggy Bundrock and husband Bill of San Antonio; and Susan Elmore and husband Luther of Austin.
Darran Lee Daniel

Darran Lee Daniel, 40, passed away July 10. 2004 in Kimble County.
He was born July 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas to Bill Daniel and Phyllis Perkins Daniel Chambers.
He is survived by his mother Phyllis Chambers, son Michael Daniel and brother Scan Daniel of Junction: grandmother Virginia Perkins of Ft. Worth: aunt and uncle Dee and Bill Perkins of Austin; and nephew Brandon Perkins of Arlington.
A rosary was held at 7 PM Tues. July 13, at the Gentry-Fife Funeral Home Chapel with service held at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church Wednesday, July 14, at 2:00 PM.
Myrtle Lillian Adams Kiser

Myrtle Lillian Adams Kiser, a beloved mother passed away at her home on June 26th, 2004 at the age of 98, surrounded by her children. She was an inspiration to her family and friends because of her love, guidance and courage she gave to us all. Local arrangements are by Frank Wilson Directors, Services will be held on Wednesday June 30th, 2004 @ 2:00pm in Junction, Texas at Gentry Fife Funeral Home. The Rev. Denny Jackson of Mason, Texas will be officiating.
Myrtle was born June 17th, 1906 in London, Texas to Dave and Emma Adams. She was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband George Ross Kiser, her parents - Mr. & Mrs. Adams, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. Myrtle Adams was married
to George Ross Kiser on February 17th, 1924 in Junction, Texas where they then raised their children and then moved to Odessa, Texas in 1975 to be near their children.
Her legacy lives on in her children, Mac D. Kiser of Brownwood, Texas, Marvin Kiser and BJ Kiser of San Angel o, Texas. J.D Kiser, Lloyd Kiser, and Melvin Kiser all of Odessa, Texas. Lola Pounders of Gallatin, Tennessee. Eula Tomlison of Hamlin, Texas, Stella Leamons of Austin, Texas. Dorothy Baker and Nell Jones of Odessa, Texas.
Three brothers, Milton Adams of Junction, Texas, Willard Adams of Comanche, Texas and Johnny Adams of Carlsbad, New Mexico. 8 nieces, 11 nephews, 31 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Charlie Carroll

Charlie Carrol I, 78, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 in a local, care center.
Graveside service was held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in Junction cemetery.
He was born February 2, 1926 in Izoro, Texas to Luther M. Carroll and Minnie May Kadell Carroll.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Bell Carroll and daughter Mary Jane Carroll Stewart.
Survivors include his son Charlie Edwin (George) Carroll; sisters Dorothy Pierce and Martha Wallace of Junction, Nelda Parks of Ingram and Mary Tinsley of Stephenville; brothers John Wayne Carroll and J. D. Carroll of Junction; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Sylvia Taylor Chapman

Died : May, 29, 2004
On May 29th, 2004 Sylvia Taylor Chapman went to be with the Lord.
She was born July 3, 1923 in Kimble County.
Service was held at First United Methodist Church on June 1st in Junction, Texas.
She graduated from Junction High School in 1943. She had a life long interest in cooking, hunting, fishing ,crocheting and her family.
She is survived by sons, William R. "Bill" Chapman and wife Nancy of Junction; Robert David "Bob" Chapman and wife Mar Lea of Junction, Jeff Chapman of Denver, Colorado; and one sister Leora Gregory of Shiner, Texas.
She is also survived-by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Chris Thibodeaux, Todd Thibodeaux, Scan McCullough, John Tuckness and Eric Wyman.
Rainey Earl Moore
93 years of age
Died : May 18, 2004
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 25, at Copperas cemetery which is near the old Weaver Ranch.. He will be buried by his wife's side in the family plot.
Rainey Earl Moore, Jr., a retired heavy construction and iron worker, passed away May 18, 2004, in Longview, Washington. Known as R. E. Moore for all of his adult life, he was almost 93 years old at the time of his death.
R. E. was born in San Saba County, Texas. He was the only boy in the family and had five sisters. He began working in construction early in the '30's and helped build the Llano River Bridge in Junction, Texas. After R. E. met Renzie Weaver, a short courtship ensued, and they were married
in Junction by Rev. Thomas Bradley on May 30, 1937. They were together almost 62 years when Renzie passed away on May 10,1999.
While R. E. worked for Phelps Dodge in Morencio, Arizona, the largest open pit mining project in the Western United States was begun. R. E. moved his family to California shortly after his daughter, Peggy was born in October 1940. He worked in construction, helping build cement plants in the Bay Area.
R. E. served in the Navy Seabees as a Chief Petty Officer during World War II, building bridges, runways, etc. in the South Pacific. While R. E. was serving his country, Renzie was living on the Weaver Ranch, wiring the family farmhouse. During this time, June, their second daughter, was born. When R. E. was stationed in Rhode Island for training, almost everyone in Junction collected their gas stamps for Renzie. These efforts made it possible for Renzie to drive to Rhode Island with the couple's two young daughters to visit R. E.
In 1945, R. E. moved his family back to California where he resumed his work of building bridges and cement plants-At the time of his retirement in Redding, he was serving as plant manager for the last cement plant that he had helped build.
R. E. was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Junction. He loved hunting, fishing, baseball, gardening, and cooking. Many folks in Junction have tasted his hearth baked sourdough bread and homegrown vegetables.
Once a Texan, he was always a Texan.
Survivors are daughters Peggy Moore Hudson, June Marie McGraw; sons-in-law Rodger Hudson and Stephen McGraw, all of Washington; grandson, John Obeck Hudson of Seattle, Washington; granddaughters-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Hudson and Anita Rye; great grandchildren Matthew Hudson, Christopher Hudson, and Steven Rye; R. E.'s younger sister, Mary Ella Weaver, who resides in Harper, Texas
Jack Gardner

Died : May 16, 2004
Mr. Jack Garner Gardner, a West Texas rancher, passed away May 13, 2004, at his ranch in Kimble County.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 16 at the First Baptist Church in Junction, Texas.
Mr. Gardner was born on the family ranch at Roosevelt, Texas on August 3, 1932.
He attended Peacock Military Institute in San Antonio, Texas and Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army.
Jack was well known in the registered goat industry for his fine-haired angoras.
He had a great love for the outdoors and his deer management,
Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann Kothmann Gardner: his son Gary Gardner, and wife, Robin; and two daughters Lou Zane Burleson and husband Todd, and Gina Gardner. Other survivors include five granddaughters Jessica, Whitney and Ashley Gardner and Heather and Harlea Burleson, two sisters, Zane Holland and husband Rufe, and Billie Shannon Gardner.
He is also survived by five special nephews Joseph Conrad, Joe Clay, Cole, Kelly and Gordon and nieces Molly, Jennifer and Julie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bonnie Gardner and one brother, Joe M. Gardner, Jr.
Charles (Charlie) Kennedy Dowell

Memorial service is scheduled for 04/29/04 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction.
Charlie Kennedy Dowell passed away peacefully at home. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend - he will be missed. Born in Sand Springs OK, he missed a "Leap Year" birth by one day. He was preceded in death by his parents: Horace Bartlett and Annie Ruth Kendall Dowell. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, OK where he made the "All State" football team. He graduated from the University of OK in 1950 as Senior Class President and Varsity Letterman, having played Center for the National Championship football team. He graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1953, and began a career of pastoral positions within the Presbyterian Church, including; The community Presbyterian Church of Fort Laramie, WY; Hillcrest Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City OK; St. Mary's Parish Church in Monymusk, Aberdeenshire Scotland; Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church in McKinney, TX; First Presbyterian Church in Junction and First Presbyterian Church in Rocksprings, TX. He also survived in the Community Action Program in Oklahoma City, OK and the office of Economic Opportunity in Dallas, TX. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Pat) Ann Flikkema Dowell; three children - JoAnn Dowell McEndarfer and husband Tom, Charles Ken Dowell and wife Debra, and Jane Dowell Ellington and husband Don; Brothers - H.B. "Spider" Dowell and Jonathan K. "Red" Dowell; sister - Anne Dowell Barry; and 10 grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to : First Presbyterian Church - Junction, Meals on Wheels, Nurses for Kimble County or Hospice.
Melvin W. Camp

Service: Tuesday November 24, 2003 at 10:00am at the Gentry-Fife Funeral Chapel.
Survivors include a niece Sheila D'Spain of Junction and several other nieces and nephews.
