Richard Lee Burton
September 12, 1948 - April 9, 2015
Floydada, Texas

Richard Lee Burton, age 66, of Floydada, passed away, Thursday, April 9, 2015. Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada. Visitation will be prior to service from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.., Monday, April 13, 2015 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Richard was born on September 12, 1948 to Lee Williams and Nina Theresa (Myrick) Burton in Lubbock. He grew up on the family farm north east of Floydada in the Fairview community. Richard attended school in Floydada. He was a gifted musician playing the piano at age 3 and played with various bands. Richard served his country in the U.S. Marines from March 1969 until August 1971. He returned to the family farm working there until the farm entered the CRP program. After farming Richard then worked for Caprock Motor Parts and Hardware for over 23 years and retired due the health problems.

He is preceded in death by his mother; Nina Burton, two sisters; Carolyn and Phyllis Burton and his grandparents.

Richard is survived by his father; Lee Burton and step mother, Margaret of Lubbock, sister; Sharon Pattillo and husband Don of Lubbock, nephew; Ron Pattillo of Lubbock, one aunt; Marjorie Myrick of Plainview and several cousins and many friends.

Glen Tiffin, Sr.
May 23, 1926 - August 3, 2015
Quitaque, Texas

Glen Tiffin, Sr., age 89, passed away, Monday, August 3, 2015. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Flomot cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Quitaque.Glen Dale was born on May 23, 1926 to Von and Alma Tiffin in Floyd County, Texas near the area known as Fairmont.

Glen Dale spent almost his entire life in the Floyd, Briscoe and Motley County areas growing up to be an excellent horseman, farmer, husband, father and a man of many skills. When he did venture away from the area to try other things, his heart was still on the farm that his parents bought in 1943 north of Flomot, where he resided at the time of his death.

On February 24, 1945, he married LaVerne Whitford in Hollis, OK. They were married 68 and a half years before LaVerne passed away on July 13, 2013. From this union, they raised two daughters, Sue and Karen and one son, Dale.

Glen Dale was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne, his parents, Von and Alma, his son, Dale; a Granddaughter, Brandi, his sister Lura Mae, and six Brother-in-laws, Clark, Donell, Melvin, Merl, Jerry, and Albert.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue Tiffin of Turkey, Karen Farmer and husband Joe of Quitaque, a sister, Joyce Jeffries of St. George, UT, a brother Rex Tiffin and wife Mary of Plainview, two Sister-in-laws, Emma Hicks of Uvalde, Sara McFarlin and husband James of Plainview, three Granddaughters, Kris Court and husband Tony of Turkey, Jennifer Montgomery and husband Robert of Hutchinson, KS, Kim Allaire and husband Mike of Waller, three Grandsons, Michael Tiffin and wife, Phyllis of Weatherford, Garret Clayton and wife Veronica of Kaw City, OK, David Clayton of Akron, OH, six Great-grandsons, six Great-granddaughters, one Great-great-granddaughter and one Great-great-grandson, numerous extended family and wonderful friends and neighbors.

John Edward Schott
September 28, 1940 - January 5, 2017
Silverton, Texas

John Edward Schott, 76, of Silverton, Texas, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Tulia, Texas. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Silverton with G.J. Walton and Dale West officiating. Interment icon will follow at the Silverton cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m-8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Moore Rose Visitation Parlor in Silverton. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

John was born in Tulia, Texas to W. E. Schott and Rena (Persons) Schott on September 28, 1940. John grew up in Silverton and attended Silverton High School where he met his best friend and love of his life, Laquetta Chitty. John and Laquetta married September 1, 1962. They celebrated 54 years of life and marriage.

John graduated from WTAM University with a degree in Animal Science. A third generation farmer/rancher, John was blessed to do what he loved and often said it was such an honor to care for "God's country." John and Laquetta raised their family in Silverton. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silverton for 45 years. He loved his Lord, family, and his church. John freely witnessed to souls in need and was a true friend to many. John served as a SISD school board member and also as president. He loved Briscoe county youth and was active with his children in Briscoe County 4-H.

John was preceded in death by his parents W. E. and Rena Schott; in-laws Pete and Pauline Chitty, one sister, Mary Schott Neff; his son, David Lee Schott; and grandson, Marcus Schott.

John is survived by his wife, Laquetta Schott of Silverton; two sons, John Bryan Schott and wife, Stacy of Silverton, Texas, William Clay Schott and wife Tracy of Canyon, Texas; two brothers, Dave Schott and wife, Cindy of Amarillo, Texas; Bill Schott and wife, Chris of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law Roy Neff of Burleson, Texas; a special cousin, Jane Self and husband Tom Burson of Silverton, Texas; his beloved grandchildren, Jana Nichole Schott of Amarillo, Texas, Tanner John Schott of Silverton, Texas, William Cole Schott of Canyon, Texas, Sarah Cheyann of Canyon, Texas, Katlin Diane Lanners, and husband Chris of Dumas, Texas, Ronnie Len McQueen and wife, Kayla of Wylie, Texas; 5 great grandchildren, Gage, Kase, Christopher Lanners, and Coty and Cole Mcqueen. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will miss John.

The family request memorials to the First Baptist Church of Silverton.

Robert "Shorty" Turner
March 31, 1932 - July 9, 2016
Floydada, Texas

Robert Olen "Shorty" Turner, 84, of Floydada, TX died on Saturday, July 9, 2016 peacefully at home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Floydada with Pastor Tim Franks officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

He was born on March 31, 1932 in Floydada, Texas to Virgil Douglas and Josie Valree Turner. He attended public schools in Floydada and worked for his father's trucking business after graduation. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Polly Louise Pritchett on December 14, 1957 in South Plains. They lived in Pampa and Lubbock early in their marriage and settled in Floydada in 1962, when he became a business partner in the automobile dealership City Auto, Inc. He maintained this position until his retirement in 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Valree, his wife Louise, brothers Delmar ("Bud") and Doyle, and brother-in-law Leroy Burns. He is survived by sister Loretta Burns of Floydada, brother Dorman Turner and wife Annette of Wimberly, sister Audeen Irwin and husband Sherman of Lubbock, brother Elton Turner and wife Sandra of Flagstaff, AZ, sister Margie Young and husband Travis of Floydada, and sister-in-law Dorothy Turner of Floydada.

He is also survived by four children and their spouses, Kelly Turner and wife Melinda of Lubbock, Karen Farris and husband Tom of Floydada, Susan Browning and husband Hollis of Waco, and Grant Turner and wife Lisa of Whiteface; grandchildren Alison and Avery Turner, T.K. Farris, Tamala Farris Reece and John Vincent Farris, Mason and Will Browning, Holley Aguilera and Robbie Robinett, and Landon, Halee, and Cooper Turner: and great-grandson Parker Smith.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Quartermaster in the local chapter for many years. He was known to many in his local community for his quick wit, friendly disposition, and jokes, and loved to brag on his grandkids. He volunteered countless hours in various school booster organizations over the years.

The family would like to thank Berta Benitez and Priscilla Adams for their gracious care of our Dad.

Verne Earl Taylor, Jr.
August 26, 1930 - July 3, 2016
Lockney, Texas

Verne Earl Taylor, Jr., age 85 , passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home with his loving family beside him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Lockney with Joe Tillery and Chad Cook officiating. Interment icon will follow at the Lockney cemetery.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.

Verne was born on August 26th, 1930 to Verna Earl Taylor, Sr. and Bessie Bowman in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Jr enlisted into the Marine Corp in 1952 during the Korean Conflict and then was Honorably discharged in 1954, where returned to Cheyenne, OK and then moved to Lockney in late 1959. Jr. married Cleona Graves on February 28, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Lonestar. He worked for Anders Clayton and then Cargil from 1960 until he retired as the Truck Superintendent in 1994. Since retirement Jr. has enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife of 56 years and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Verne Earl Taylor Sr. and Bessi Bowman; sisters Fern McCaskill, Mozella Taylor and Etta Yell; a granddaughter, Harmony Akin.

He is survived by his wife, Cleona, and his daughter Penny (Kenneth) Lockridge of Plainview; a son Terry (Angie) Taylor of Newbern, TN; one sister, Freda (Carl) Blair of Mustange, OK; 3 grandchildren, Matt (Christine) Lockridge of Plainview, TX; Melanie Lockridge of Plainview, TX and Logan Hays of Newbern, TN; and 3 great grandchildren, Shelby, Asher and Ashton Lockridge; with many nieces and nephews.

Fred Strange
November 25, 1929 - July 4, 2016
Silverton, Texas

Fred Strange, age 86, passed away, Monday, July 4, 2016 at Childers Place in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Silverton, with G.J. Walton, and a cousin to Fred; Bob Crass officiating.

Interment will follow at the Silverton cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Moore Rose Funeral Home.

Mr. Strange was a lifelong resident of Silverton.

He was was born in 1929, the 6th of 8 children to Bryan and Ivah Strange. Fred married Wanda Poole in 1953.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Strange of Silverton, two children; Ronnie Strange, Darla Wood and husband Eddie all of Amarillo, 3 grandchildren; Jesita Rice and husband Shawn of Canyon, Heather Strange Beckum and husband Todd of Amarillo, Dustin Strange and wife Victoria of Amarillo, two great grandchildren; Jayden Peek and Robbie Widowski, and a sister; Mae Pitts of Alexandria, Lousiana.

Memorials may be made to the Silverton cemetery Fund, Silverton Volunteer Fire Department, Silverton Ambulance or the Veterans Memorial in Silverton.
