MURPHY
Pat Sherman Murphy, of Cleveland, Texas, beloved husband and father, passed away suddenly on February 19, 2006 at the age of 66. Pat was born January 1, 1940 in Lufkin, Texas to Sherman and Tessie Belle Murphy.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte, son, Patrick Murphy and his wife, Billie-Jean, two step-daughters, Tisha Wilhite and Angela Lopez, three grandchildren, and one sister, Linda Howard, of Houston.
Pat retired from Brown & Root after many years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 22, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Oak Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas.
PHILLIPS
Raymond H. “SMOKEY” Phillips, II of Point Blank, Texas passed away, February 19, 2006 at the Cleveland Regional Hospital. He was born February 24, 1959 in Houston, Texas and moved to Point Blank in 1980. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 773 in Houston and belonged to Paul Horton Methodist Church in Stephen Creek.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Phillips; sister, Brenda Haynes and her family; grandmother, Mary Walker; aunt, Sally Brooks and her family; numerous cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her grandfather, Ted Walker.
Funeral services will be held February 22, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Paul Horton Methodist church with Rev. Wallace conducting the service. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 2006, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas.
Daley
Donald Orville Daley, Sr., age 78, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Monday, February 20, 2006. He was born in Houston, Texas on October 29, 1927 to James and Zola Daley. Donald Daley served his country in the U.S.S. Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his children, Donald Orville Daley, Jr., Bonnie Buckingham and husband, Mario Lopez; brothers, Billy Daley, Brian Daley; grandchildren, Melody Fischer, Jennifer Daley, Zack Daley; great-grandchildren, Felicity and Savana along with many other loving and caring family members and friends.
SIRKEL
Edna Faye Sirkel, age 61, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away, Monday, February 20, 2006. She was born in Cleveland, Texas on September 2, 1944. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Faye Perez and David Murphy, Mitzi Watford and Jason Smith; grandchildren, Adam Day Perez, Jessica Day Perez, Joshua Joel Crook, Justin Lee Crook, Kandice Danay Anice Crook, Nikki Murphy; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Perez and Madison Perez; brother, Dale Cooper and wife, Rose; nieces and nephews, Lori Dale, Monica Marie, Tommy Joe, and Rebecca; aunt, Gertie Bell Thomas; special nephews, Jeremy Sirkel and Joshua Sirkel; special friends, Helen Henderson, Lavern Rutherford, Earline Murry, Melvin and Brenda Cates, LindaBeth Rounavac, and Helen “Penny” Comstock; and as a member of the support team, a special thanks to Splendora Volunteer Fire Department. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Sirkel and her parents, Bailey “Skeet” and Ruth Day Stout.

MEEKINS
Donnice Meekins, age 87, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2006. She was born in Houston, Texas to T.A. and Evelyn Long on December 26, 1918.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Meekins; grandsons, Bret Settle, John Settle; brothers, Lester Long, Earnie Long, and Oswin Long; four grandchildren and a host of and friends beyond measure. She is preceded in death by son, John Settle; sisters Arlene Page Rosser and Nora Long.
Rev. Chester Burt conducted graveside services held Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Rest Gardens.
BARKER
Minnie Ruth Barker, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away, Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the age of 58. She was born in Houston, Texas to Therman and Martha Rector, Sr. on May 22, 1947.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Bartley and wife, Terri; step-children, Molly, Tonikay, Claudette, Charlene, and Roxanne; brother, Therman Rector; sister, Patricia June Carlton; numerous grandchildren, aunt and uncle, John and Sue Galloway; cousins, George and Cheryl Channon and many other loving and caring family members and friends.
Family and friends joined together to pay their respects Friday, February 24, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.
MORRISON
Ruth G. Morrison, age 79, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Friday, February, 24, 2006 at Conroe Regional Medical Center. She was born in Coldspring, Texas on March 4, 2006, to George G. and Elmay G. Woodruff.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen Seago and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Stacey Ferguson and husband, Rickey, Clint Payne and wife, Hollie; great-grandchildren, Stormie Payne, Hayden and Peyton Ferguson; nieces and nephews, Russ and Wesley Morrison, Joe Woodruff, D’Ann Adams, Lisa Mize, Becky Woodruff, Joseph Douglas Woodruff, Jr. , Susan Lamb, George Fain; best cousin, Julius Slaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, George G. and Elmay G. Morrison; husband, H.R. Morrison, son, Rusty Morrison, one nephew, two brothers, one sister.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Coldspring, Coldspring, Texas. Dr. Don M. Shannon conducted the service with interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Coldspring, Texas.
GRAYSON
GLADYS BROOKSHIRE GRAYSON; Died at her home, Friday, February 24, 2006. Gladys was born at home on September 20, 1907, in the Berry/Moffett farming community East of Lufkin, Texas, Angelina County. She was the daughter of Martha Jane (Reynolds) and Henderson Frank Brookshire. Sisters, Quida and Jewel, and two years later, brother, Grady, completed the family.
The Children attended the local public school at Moffett, and helped their parents on the farm.
Gladys married Matterson E. “John” Grayson, in 1932, and later welcomed two children, Bobby Charles and Peggy Jean. Gladys and John were in the retail grocery/gas business in Polk County and later in Cleveland, Texas, most of their married life.
Preceded in death by parents, siblings, husband, and son, Gladys leaves to mourn her death, daughter, Peggy Grayson Jarboe, and husband, Judson; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Grayson Smith, and husband, Roy; grandchildren, Cindy Grayson Lorenz and Butch, Tamara Jarboe Moore and Mark, Connie Grayson Hill and Josh, Judson (J.D.) Jarboe, Jr. and Sheila Elaine, Carolyn Grayson Hunter and Joe, and Derek Grayson Jarboe and Carol. Also, 16 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren survive along with numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Services were held Monday, February 27, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, with Bro. Carol Williamson, Pastor ministering. Gladys was a long time member of Calvary and active until failing health. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
JONES
L.B. Jones, age 81, of Splendora, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2006. He was born in Lovelady, Texas on January 12, 1925 to Mary Archie (Evans) Jones and Floyd Sherman Jones. He was a resident of Splendora since 1968; 50 year member Pipefitter Local 211. He was well know throughout the community and enjoyed his quality time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Maurice C. Jones; sons, Charles Lewis and Tommy Lewis along with his grandson, Leon Paul Lewis.
He is survived by his children, T.C. Lewis, Robert Klozik, Mollie Funderburk, Leon Lewis and wife, Mary, Kenneth Jones and wife, Judy, Chris Griggs and husband, Donald, Jo Anne Hall and husband, Leroy; daughter-in law, Candi Lewis; sisters, Wanda Bruner and husband, Jack, Martha Lively and husband, Hines; 32 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Cemetery, Lovelady, Texas. Charlie, Michael, Sherman, Curtis, Kenneth, Christopher, Donald, Floyd all served as his honorary pallbearers.
