Lynda D. Littleton, born on May 11, 1951, passed away June 4, 2006. Arrangements were handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
COLSTON
Roy Fulton Colston, Jr., born in Tyler, Texas on December 10, 1925 to Roy Fulton Colston, Sr. and Maud Warner Colston.
When he was a younger man, he served our country in the U.S. Navy.
He went on to start a successful manufacturing business by building auto parts.
He always had a wonderful smile that will forever be missed by all of those that knew him and kept him in their hearts.
He left behind the burdens of this life on June 4, 2006.
He is survived by many cherished family members and countless friends beyond measure.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Virginia Colston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with interment at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
DILLON
Gladys Ina Evelyn Dillon, born July 11, 1935, passed away June 5, 2006. Arrangements were handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
Serna
Martha Jane “Marty” Serna, 60, of Lubbock, Texas died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 after an extended illness. She was born August 2, 1945 in Bauragard, Louisiana to parents James Lewis and Mandy Elmira Whittington Mason. She had been a resident of both Mexico and Texas over the past 31 years.
Service for Mrs. Serna will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents, brother: William Allen Mason and sister: Jo Ann Mason.
She is survived by her husband: Gabriel Serna of Mexico; sons: Damian Serna and wife Rosa of Lubbock, Lewis Mason Serna of Mexico; sisters: Alice Faye Nash of Deridder, Louisiana and Mary Langley and husband William of Dayton; brother: John Wayne Mason of Houston; four grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Slaughter
Jennie Marie Slaughter, 60, of Dayton, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 in Houston. She was born October 26, 1945 to parents Neil and Anna Belle Guckian Hodges in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Galena Park High School, lived most of her life in the Houston area before moving to Dayton where she had lived for the past 10 years. Mrs. Slaughter had worked for Chevron and the Steel Mill before retiring. She loved and was devoted to her family, always taking care of them in every aspect. She was affiliated with the Crosby Church.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Hardin Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her mother: Anna Belle Hodges; step-mother: Mildred Hodges; grandparents: Marie Guckian, Roy and Mabel Hodges. She is survived by her father: Neil Hodges of Houston; sons: Michael Slaughter and wife Becky of Dayton, Joel Van Matre of Highlands, and Gregory Slaughter of Dayton; grandchildren: Lori Slaughter and Sarah Van Matre; brother: Roy Hodges and wife Betty of Brenham, and sister: Linda Inman of New York; other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2006 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
WHITSON
William Auther Whitson, age 60, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away, Wednesday, June 7, 2006. He was born to Oscar Joseph and Ethel Whitson in Fairfax, Oklahoma on April 4, 1946.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Whitson; children, Bill Younger, Robert Lawson, Dorothy Carwile, Tara Urias, Zeronia Arnold; brothers and sisters, Andre Whitson, Frankie Whitson, Aline Drymond, Mary Christy, Lorene Schubert; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other cherished family members along with countless friends beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his son, Joey Younger.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 10, 2006, 5:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.
KELLY
David Oscar Kelly, Sr. of Cleveland, Texas, passed away, Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the age of 74. He was born in Corpus Christi on February 5, 1932.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce K. Kelly, daughter, Davette Hendrickson and husband, Bert of Livingston, Texas; sons, David Kelly, Jr. and wife Audrey of Cleveland, Texas, Scott Kelly and wife, Colleen of Michigan, Russell Kelly and wife, Rhoda of Cleveland, Texas, Jeff Kelly and wife, Tracy of Richman, Texas; brother, Douglas Kelly of Robstown, Texas; grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Brian, Derek, Brent, Christina, Alyssa, and Paige; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan and Noelle; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and caring friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar A. Rabenadlt; mother, Ellen Carruthers; adopted father, Aurthur Kelly; and brothers, Robert Rabenadlt and Kenneth Kelly.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, 2006, 11:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Paul Kahan conducted the service with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.
Slankard
Charles W. “Chuck” Slankard, 42, of Tarkington Prairie, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Rosenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, June 16, 2006, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with burial following at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Chuck was born February 4, 1964, in Freeport, to parents; Ewell W. Slankard and Beverly Robinson, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1983 and obtained his Paramedic Certification through Lee College in 1989. He was a paramedic for Houston Medical Transfer Services, and Advanced Ambulance of Corpus Christi, former youth T-ball coach, and enjoyed his work, playing guitar and bass, and barbecues.
Mr. Slankard is survived by his wife: Donna L. Davis Slankard of Baytown, daughters: Charlotte Slankard of Baytown and Jessica Cormier of Baytown, grandchildren: Devin and Deja Cormier, mother: Beverly Robinson McDaniel of Tarkington Prairie, father: Ewell W. Slankard of Batson, brother: Ken Hooper and wife Sandra of Tarkington Prairie, maternal grandparents: Clyde and Ava Williams of Moss Hill, two nephews, one niece, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
