Holland
Virgil Clarence Holland, 64, of Dayton died at his daughter's Angela's home after an extended illness. He was born July 14, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana to parents, Herman and Audrey Nichols Holland. He had been a resident of the Dayton area for over ten years,
previously living in Harris County. He served in the United States Marine Corps and had serveral businesses including trucking and electrical. He ministered as evangelist and enjoyed playing his guitar. Mr. Holland had many accomplishments, he enjoyed being a pilot, master in martial arts, and serving as a law officer in many capacities. Prior to his death he was a detective for Patton Village. He enjoyed riding his Harley, helping others and was a father, grandfather and friend to many.
Memorial service for Mr. Holland will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Frank Davis officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughters: Angela Tonkin and husband, Richard of Dayton, Jessica Holland of Marble Falls; his sons: Jonathan Holland of Pasadena, Virgil "Bobby" Holland of Dayton, and Colton Holland of Baytown; his three grandchildren: Candace, David and Brad.
GATES
Funeral services for Pauline Gates, were held at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. She passed away at Cleveland Regional Medical Center on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the age of 83.
She was the daughter of J.E. and Connie Taylor born in Paris, Texas on October 28, 1922 and survived by her son, Phillip Gates and wife, PO; grandchildren, Kellie Whitmire and husband, Clint, Cory Gates; great-grandchild, Mikayla Whitmire; along with many other loving family members and caring friends.

Howard P. "Pie" Blanc, 81, of Woodville, died Monday, August 28, 2006 in Lufkin.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2006, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Howard was born March 18, 1925 in Houston, to parents; Carlos R. and Octavia "Tyvee" Bienvenu Blanc, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Woodville area for the past five years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retired welder, and member of the Pipe fitter's Local Union in Houston.
Mr. Blanc was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Dorothy M. Henry Blanc, daughter: Linda D. Blanc, sisters: JoAnn Anderson and Melba Osminer, and brothers: Albert "Bobby" Blanc and Diddie P. Blanc, Sr. He is survived by his sons: Howard P. Blanc, Jr. and wife Tina of Dayton and Garland Bilnoski and wife Terese of Houston, grandchildren: Tyler, Evan, Sara, Jessica, and Sabrina, great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jr. and Emily, sisters: Dorothy "Sue" Travis of Denver, CO and Beulah "Boo" Ezernack of Houston, brother: Jerome "Pete" Blanc of Port Aransas, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Robert E. Drake, 61, of Dayton, died Thursday, August 31, 2006, at the Memorial Hermann North West in Houston.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 4, 2006, at St. Anne's Catholic Mission. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Robert was born July 23, 1945 in Baytown, to parents; Hollie and Emma Wagner Drake, a former resident of Baytown and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 20 years.
He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, a former rig operator, a retired horse trainer, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Drake was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Sherren Korenek Drake of Dayton, daughters: Emma Drake of Dayton, Rachael Drake and Josh Ryland of Dayton, Stacy Drake and Joe Dugas of Dayton, Tracy Edwards and Kenny of Dayton, and Surina Harshaw of Baytown, mother: Emma W. Richard H. "Dick" Ames, Jr., 78, of Kenefick, passed away Friday, September 1, 2006, at his residence.
Dick was born November 7, 1927 in Prescott, AZ, to parents; Richard H., Sr. and Alice J. Archambeau Ames, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Kenefick area for the past 38 years. He attended the Lake Elsinore Naval Academy, veteran merchant marine with service during WW II, retired maintenance superintendent from Enterprise Products of Mt. Belvieu after 20 years of employment and previous employment with Munday Maintenance for 20 years, and member of the Pine Ridge Hunting Club. Mr. Ames also enjoyed deer hunting, the beach, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Ames was preceded in death by his parents, son: Ray Bedgood, Jr., great-grandson: William David Buttram, sister: Micki Rue, and brother: Mike Ames.

Altha Lee Faulkner, of Baytown, Texas, passed away September 1, 2006 at the age of 88. She was born in Security, Texas on December 10, 1917. Preceded in death by her husband, Elvie Faulkner, daughter-in-law, Judith Faulkner.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald Faulkner, Steven Faulkner and wife, Sophia, sisters, Opal Jordan and Erma Lea Hill, four grandchildren, Mark Faulkner, Matthew Faulkner, Kristen Ivy, Bo Faulkner, four great-grandchildren, Brittany Faulkner, Brandi Faulkner, Craig Ivy, Julie Ivy, and many other loving family members and friends.
