Gardner

Vance Edward Gardner, 62, of Dayton died Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Houston, Texas.

He was born May 11, 1944 in Vanceboro, Mainee to parents, Everett Augustus and Yvonne Mills Gardner. He was a 1961 graduate of McAdam New Brunswick High School in Canada. He had been a resident of this area for the past 18 years and was retired from the trucking industry and was a member of the American Legion in Crosby.

Services for Mr. Gardner will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father: Everett Gardner; his brother: Lloyd Everett Gardner; his grandson: Mason Gardner. He is survived by his wife: Barbara Gardner of Huffman; his sons: Gerald Gardner and wife Lisa of Waco, Richard Watson and wife Lisa of Dayton and Brian Gardner of Lampasas; his daughters: Melissa Rhodes and husband Ron of Waco, Phyllis Brimer and husband Tony of Cleveland and Carrie Steele and husband Brady of Dublin; his mother: Yvonne Gardner of Canada; his brothers: Ruland Gardner and wife Pat of Maine, Roger Gardner and wife Patsy of Canada, and David Gardner of Connecticut; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Gardner will be 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Fingleman

Kendoyce Evelyn Jansen Fingleman, 80, of Dayton died Sunday, January 21, 2007 in Humble after an extended illness. She was born September 17, 1926 in Houston, Texas to parents: Otto Eugene and Virginia Brunson Jansen. She had been a lifelong resident of Dayton where she attended Dayton High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Fingleman worked for the Dayton Independent School District in Food Services for over 15 years. During this time she befriended many students with her caring love. She enjoyed her friends and cooking, but most of all loved her family especially her grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Fingleman will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at The First Baptist Church in Dayton. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fingleman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 50 years, August Marcel Fingleman, her brothers: Wayne A. Jansen and Eugene Jansen. She is survived by her son David Fingleman of Conroe; her daughter: Virginia Chapin and husband Melvin of Elkhart; her three grandchildren: Leslie Danaher of Humble, Heather Currie and husband Craig of North Carolina and Matthew Gilbreath of North Carolina; also one great-grandchild on the way, other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends 5:0o until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

DAVIS, JR.

Carl Davis, Jr., 82, passed away January 22, 2007 at a nursing home in Beaumont, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 26 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Carl Davis, Jr. was born March 13, 1924 in Liberty, Texas to Carl Davis and Annie Smart Davis. He graduated from Liberty High School where he had made many friends and met his future bride.

Carl married Betty June Morris August 8, 1945, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage until Betty’s death in September of 2002.

During WWII he was a member of the Army Air Corps in Europe, returning to Liberty to establish his family and work as an engineer in the area’s petroleum industry. Carl also ministered in a number of cities, including Liberty, where he pastored prior to his retirement.

Carl is preceded in death by wife Betty and daughter Diana. He is survived by son Al Nathan Davis and daughter-in-law Debbi Davis of Plano; brother Harvard Davis and sister-in-law Annie Jo; grandchildren Andrea West and Avery Davis; great-grandchildren Ciara, C.J. and Jaxon West; nephews Howard Davis and Bobby Joe Davis, and many other family members and friends who will miss him greatly.

Seymour

Rosa L. “Rose” Broussard Seymour, 76, of Crosby, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the Triumph Hospital in Channelview.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial following at Oakdale Cemetery in Daisetta. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Rose was born July 31, 1930 in Baytown, to parents; Sim and Bernice Ballinger Broussard. She was a former resident of Houston and has resided in the Crosby area for the past 30 years. She was a homemaker, NA and AA sponsor, enjoyed needlework, her pets, watching national geographic and movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Bruce G. Parrish; daughter: Michelle Parrish Garner and brother: N.A. “Newt” Broussard. She is survived by her husband: Marvin Seymour of Crosby; her daughter: Kathy McRae and husband Harley of Florida; her son; Kelton Parrish and wife Kathy of Minnesota; her brother: M.E. “Gene” Broussard and wife Beulah of Big Thicket; nieces: Cindy, Jeannie, Renee, and Theresa; nephew: Larry; grandchildren: Natashia, Melanie, Meagan, Trey, and Nicolaus; great-grandchildren: Kristina, Graeme, Mikayla Rose, Katelyn, and Katia.

Burditt

Becky Burditt, 63, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007 in Liberty, Texas at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Burditt will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007 at Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Wallace officiating.

Mrs. Burditt had been a resident of this area for the past four years, previously of Houston. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her animals. She especially loved her family and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Burditt was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 40 years: John “J.C.” Burditt of Dayton; her sons: Robert Thompson of Houston, John Burditt of Kenefick, Jack Burditt of Houston, Louie Gordy and wife Cathy of Houston, Jay K. Burditt and wife Kim of Barbers Hill; her daughters: Tanya Dee Sones and husband Mark of Houston and Peggy Broussard and husband Allen of New Caney; grandchildren: Chelsea, Jennifer, Travis, Darynne, Jonathan, Jason, Adam, Hailey, Jay, Bryce, Mellissa, Brandon, Aaron, Jacob; one great-grandchild: Kade; her brother: Tony Jones and wife Pamela of Corona, California; niece: Lori Greene; nephew: Jason Jones and special friend: Linda Jones of Gilbert, Arizona.

Hoyt

Darlene Markham Hoyt, 81, of Dayton passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Liberty-Dayton Hospital. She was born August 11, 1925 in Illinois to parents, Charles L. and Bessie Sullivan Markham. She had lived in this area since 1981 and was previously of California. Mrs. Hoyt worked for many years as a dorm director for Blinn College in Brenham, Texas where she was loved by all of her residents. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, enjoyed her dogs and traveling.

Memorial services for Mrs. Hoyt will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Father David Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the Houston National Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: George Hoyt, sons: Lee and Randy Norton. She is survived by her daughters: Therese Ungles and husband Willard of Dayton, and Kimberly Beasley of Dayton; her sons: Mark Beasley of Reno, Nevada, and Jerry A. Beasley of Dayton; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Porter

Hazel Porter, 87, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007. She was born in Liberty County, Texas on February 19, 1919 to Milford C. and Margaret Ham of whom preceded her in death along with her brothers, Howard Ham, Woodrow Ham, and Charlie Ham; her sisters, Eunice Jackson and Lillie Hackelman.

She is survived by her sisters, Nettie Harmon of Old River Community, Thelma Reed of Dayton, Texas; sisters-in-law, Clydeen Ham of Old River Community, Erma Adam and husband, Terry of Cypress, Texas; brothers-in-law, Earl Porter and wife, Marion, Earsel Porter of Mount Belvieu, Texas and many other cherished family members and caring friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 9, 2007, 11:00 a.m. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas with interment at Magnolia Cemetery, Dayton, Texas.
