Dunn

Kenneth “Ken” Neal Dunn, 52, of Dayton died Monday, July 23, 2007. He was born September 10, 1954 in LeMars, Iowa to parents: Kenneth L. and Wanda Rankin Dunn. He had lived the past 10 years in this area, after moving from Pasadena. He was a 1971 graduate of South Houston High School and attended San Jacinto College. Mr. Dunn had worked as a computer programmer. He enjoyed computers, training and breeding horses.

Services for Mr. Dunn will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Hatcher officiating.

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his daughters: Carolyn Jewell and husband William of Dayton and Mary Kay Seaton and husband Brad of Dayton; his mother: Wanda J. Caldwell of South Houston; sisters: Judy, Anita, Marjorie, and Amanda; five grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Roark

James J. “Chuck” Roark, Sr., 91, of Eastgate, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in Houston, Texas. He was born October 22, 1915 in Walnut Springs, Texas to parents, Elijah and Bertie Lee Jones Roark. He had been a resident of Eastgate for over 52 years and had worked as a drilling superintendent for Tenneco before retiring. Mr. Roark was a 32nd degree Mason and served in the US Navy during World War II. He loved his family, enjoyed making early American furniture and was a member of the Gum Groove Baptist Church in Eastgate.

Memorial Service for Mr. Roark will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Adam Bender officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, and son James J. “Jimmy” Roark, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Ruby Roark of Eastgate; his daughters: Elizabeth Clarkson and husband Kenneth of Spring, and Judy Swan of Eastgate; seven grandchildren: Karen Fagerquist and husband Allen, Elizabeth Hendrix and husband Travis, Allison Stoner and husband Mickey, Chris Clarkson and wife Lisa, Kelly Washburn and husband Joe, James Roark, Jr., Evelyn Porais and husband Michael, seven great grandchildren, also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lawrence

Hellen Sue Lawrence, 89, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007 in Liberty after an extended illness. She was born January 20, 1918 in Fox, Oklahoma to parents William M. and Lizzie Mae Lahman Rush. She was a resident of Dayton for over 63 years where she and her husband raised their family. Mrs. Lawrence had been a member of the First Baptist Church, the Dayton Garden Club, and WMU.

Services for Mrs. Lawrence will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Norris Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Alvin Lawrence, Sr., her grandson: Bret Donald Lawrence and one sister. She is survived by her sons: William M. Lawrence and wife Verta Sue of Dayton and Herbert A. Lawrence, Jr. and wife Sharon of Ohio; her daughter: Hellen Teresa Thamm and husband Fred of Dayton; grandchildren: Christi Raley and husband Jeff, William Floyd Lawrence, Scott Robert Lawrence, Jason Allen Gibson, Amanda Thamm, Crystal Turner and husband Chris, and Fred Alan Thamm; her great-grandchildren: Brittany Christie Lawrence, Emily Raley, Justin Lawrence, Steven Lawrence, Alyssa Thamm, Nicholas Thamm, Jason Thamm, Christian Vance, Maddison Turner, and Toby Thamm; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Moore

Mary Elizabeth Moore, age 65, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. She was born in Houston, Texas on October 2, 1941 to Leroy and Emma Stiefer who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Johnny Ray Moore.

She is leaving behind three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Allen, Darla Kay Debardelaben, Julie Belinda Dupuis; one son, Johnny Ray Moore; sisters, Irma Johns, Ann Hough; brothers, Walter, Gerald, Tommy, Bud, and Charles Stiefer; her cherished grandchildren, Tammatha Goolsby, Julianne Miller, Joshua Miller, Travis Dupuis, Austin Dupuis, Emily Dupuis, Darren Storrs, Jacob Debardelaben; great-grandchildren, Bryce Miller, Cameron Goolsby, Cooper Dupuis; nephews, Aubrey, Tony, Omar, Chris, Wayne, Wally, Matt, Jeffrey; nieces, Margaret, Debbie, Irma Sue, Angie, Donna, Sharon, Cora, Trina; daughter-in-law, Christy Moore; son-in-laws, John Dupuis, Roger Debardelaben, Glen Allen and so many other loving and caring family and friends.

Bro. Ron Ellis will conduct funeral services Friday, September 7, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Patterson

Catherine E. Patterson, 94, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2007. She was born in Gonzales, Texas on March 6, 1913 to George and Marion Swift who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Earthman Patterson; son, William Ashley Patterson; and her daughter, Martha Raye.

She leaves behind one daughter, Georgia Gibbs; one son, Freddie Patterson; sister, Jefferine Horvath and husband, Frank; twenty-one grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and so many more cherished family members and caring friends.

Family and friends will gather together for visitation Friday, September 7, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Barr

Charles O. Barr, lifetime resident of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, the 8th of September 2007. Baptist in faith, he was born to Otha M. and Ava Barr on March 16, 1926 in Appleby, Texas. He was well known and admired throughout the community. He is preceded by his loving wife, Christine Barr; both parents and his brother, Bill Barr. He was 81 years old at the time of his death at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and left behind his son Charles Dean Barr and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Jody Barr and Cody Barr; his great-grandchildren, Haley Price, Brett Price, Wyatt Penton; sister, Mary Jo Ayers and husband, Earl; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barr, and Joyce Miller; special friends, Jeff, Janette and Sandra Wright, Amanda Johnson; caregiver, Anna; along with so many other loving family members and caring friends.

Bro. Steve Martin and Bro. James Weaver conducted funeral services on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Cleveland Missionary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Caldwell

Hazel Lucille Caldwell, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2007. She was born in Orange, Texas on August 7, 1927 to Thomas Hardy and Goldie Lucille Morgan. She was 80 years old at the time of death and left her loving husband, William Caldwell; son, Richey Caldwell and grandson, William Caldwell along with countless friends beyond measure. Visitation will begin Tuesday, September 11, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Chaplain Dan Danford will conduct funeral services held Wednesday, September 12, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Alsobrooks

Louis Alsobrooks, born in Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, the 9th day of September 2007. Not only born in Cleveland but a lifetime resident; born to Amos Rosemon and Martha Alsobrooks on December 30, 1924. Louis was Baptist in faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Louis is preceded in death by his mom and dad; sister, Lula Yeager and husband, Clarence; brothers, Morgan Alsobrooks and wife, Ceil, Alvin Alsobrooks and wife, Ada, General Edgar Alsobrooks; son, Jimmy Alsobrooks; and his grandson, Christopher Louis Alsobrooks.

He was 82 years old at the time of his death, and left behind his loving wife, Ina Lafay Alsobrooks; daughters, Shirley Westry and husband, Hector, Barbara Wilson and husband, Ronnie; sons, Jerry Alsobrooks and wife, Sherry, Wesley Alsobrooks and wife, Carolyn; sisters, Rosie Maxine Morris, Frances Yeager, Lucille Sweeten, Merle Parker, and Pauline Alsobrooks; brothers, Ernest Alsobrooks and wife, Leona, Amos Alsobrooks and wife, Jane, Leroy Alsobrooks and wife, Sammy; grandchildren, Tim Reid, Michelle Gordon and husband, Rex, Leslie Meyer, Hector Westry, Jr. and wife, Patricia, Sammy Westray, Jerry Alsobrooks, Jr., Amos Robert Alsobrooks, Sheryl Dean Keen, Chris Alsobrooks, Whitney Alsobrooks, Christel Kelly, Cpt. Wayne Wilson, U.S. Army and wife, Tracy, Chip Wilson and wife, Jaime, Clint Alsobrooks and wife, Jennifer, Amy Hamilton and husband, Casey; great-grandchildren, Haley Howell, Felisha Howell, Bryan Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Jonas Calhoun, Tyler Wescott, Shane Wescott, Andrew Westry, Brittany Keen, Brandon Keen, Dylan Alsobrooks, Brock Alsobrooks, and Mathew Hamilton and many Nieces, Nephews and other loving family members and countless friends beyond measure.

Visitation begins Tuesday, September 11, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Carl Williamson along with Bro. Don Stephens, and Bro. Craig Kohen will conduct funeral services Wednesday, September 12, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas.

LaFour

Rosa Lie LaFour, age 83, of Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas has passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2007. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 28, 1924 to Samuel and Victoria (Lane) Stevens.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Barbara Anderson and husband, Edward, and Becky LaFour; grandchildren, Misty Poissoit and husband, Keith, Heather Hamblin and husband, Jarod, Rebecca Vandiver, Kyle Poissoit, Kade Poissoit; sister, Lois Peschel; brother, Sam Griffin; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews along with so many other loving family members and caring friends.

Visitation will begin Thursday, September 13, 2007, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Boyce will conduct graveside services Saturday, September 15, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Bandera Cemetery, Bandera, Texas. Pallbearers are: Edward Anderson, Keith Poissoit, Sam Griffin, Lee Porter, David Gould, Johnny Griffin will escort him to his final resting place with Kyle Poissoit and Jarod Hamblin serving as honorary pallbearers.
