ELNA ELIZABETH SCHLUETER

Funeral services for Elna Elizabeth Schlueter, 88, of Jasper, will be held on Thursday at 9AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Jasper with interment services to follow in the Hancock Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper from noon until 5PM.
A native of Jasper, she lived in San Antonio for about 20 years before moving back to Jasper to work as an operator at Visador. She was an Elder at the Presbyterian Church and a member of Eastern Star, as well as a volunteer at Dickerson Hospital.
Survivors include a sister, Lola Conklin of Houston, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nelda Hutson.
Services are under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper.

J. H. “JOE” JOBE

Funeral services for J.H. Joe Jobe, 80, of Roganville, will be on Thursday at 2PM at the Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5PM until 9PM at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Mr. Jobe died Monday at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was a native and lifelong resident of Roganville. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his son, Donald Jobe of Roganville, daughter, Patsy Stephenson of Jasper, brother, Carlton Jobe of Roganville, sister, Margaret “Pee-Wee” Jobe of Silsbee, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

DORIS FAIRES

Funeral services for Doris Faires, 78, of Brookeland, will be on Friday at 10AM at the Rayburn Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4PM until 10PM on Thursday at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
Mrs. Faires died July 19 at Cornerstone Hospital in Sulphur, LA. A native of New Orleans, LA and former longtime resident of Orange, she had lived in Brookeland since 1989. She retired after 40 years of teaching.
Survivors include her son, Baxter Britton Faires, Jr. of Orange, three daughters, Becky Ickles of Mansfield, TX, and Erie Wuemling of Iredell, TX and Lettie Cooper of Lake Charles, LA, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Services are under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services for Ethel Juanita Booker, 52, of Buna, are pending at Robinson Community Funeral Home in Jasper. Mrs. Booker died Monday at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

LEONA B. VEATCH

Funeral services for Leona Brandon Veatch, 87, of Jasper, will be 2:00pm Friday, July 23, 2004 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel of Jasper with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30pm to 8:30pm Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the funeral home.
Leona died July 21, 2004 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native of Sabine County, she was a longtime Jasper County resident. A 1932 graduate of Pineland High School, she received her Bachelors and Masters Degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College in Nacogdoches. She retired after teaching 42 years in Sabine and Jasper Counties. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society, The Jasper County Retired Teacher Association and was a member of the Jasper Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John in 1995.
Survivors include one sister, Gladys Brandon Thomas; maternal nieces, Karen McLane and Robin Brasher, all of Jasper; she is also survived by several paternal nieces and nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to The Jasper County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund.

Tom House

Services for Tom House, 81, of Hemphill, will be 2:00pm Thursday February 2, 2006 at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30pm until 8:30pm Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at the funeral home.
Mr. House died Monday, January 30, 2006 at San Augustine Memorial Hospital. A native and longtime resident of Jasper he had lived in Hemphill for the past fifteen years. A graduate of Jasper High School, he attended Stephen Austin State Teachers College. He then served during WWII with the U. S. Army. He retired as an Accountant with Tennessee Gas Transmission Company. He enjoyed carpentry and working around the house. He loved his family and he loved hunting and just being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife Faye House of Hemphill; son, Gary Ben House of Jasper; step daughter, June Fuller of Bronson; two sisters, Laura Holmes of California and Opal Black of Stephenville, Texas; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife of 43 years, Nina Ferguson in 1990.

Charlotte Winfree Bollinger

Charlotte Winfree Bollinger, 79, of Jasper, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, at her home and in the presence of family. She was preceded in death by her parents Clara and Sheldon Winfree and her beloved grandson Christopher Webb. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joel “Jay” Bollinger of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Willis Webb, of Jasper; daughter Becky Massey of San Antonio; grandson Weston Webb of Lumberton; granddaughter Claire Massey of San Antonio; brother Hugh Winfree of Sulphur, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Pat Mahoney of Fort Collins, CO; three nieces and four nephews. Born in Mer Rouge, LA, and raised in both Leesville and Mer Rouge, Charlotte met her future husband at Louisiana Tech. Following their marriage she worked at the state capitol in Austin before becoming a full-time mother. In 1955 she began work at Cedar Bayou Junior High School in Baytown, where she pioneered the district’s move into the computer age. In 1976, Charlotte and Jay purchased property in Wimberley, TX and opened a successful resort, which they managed for 19 years before moving to Jasper in 1995.
Described as having a “fierce spirit”, Charlotte’s intelligence, determination and sense of humor served her to the end. Her enthusiasm for life and can-do attitude were infectious and left everyone feeling they were all the better for having known her. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. According to her wishes, a memorial service for the family will be held in Wimberley at a later date. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests donations in Charlotte’s memory to Lakes Area Hospice, 254 Ethel Street, Jasper, TX 75951.

Jerry Lynn Smith
1942 – 2007

Jerry Lynn Smith, 65, of Jasper, passed away October 9, 2007 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native of Batson, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Jasper and had worked for many years as a machinist for Owens-Illinois and Lufkin Industries. He was also a Boy Scout Leader for the Troop in Jasper and loved woodworking.
Military Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at West Oaks Cemetery under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper. The family will greet the public just prior to the service at the cemetery .

Steven Robare
1949 – 2007

Steven Joseph Robare, 58, of Sam Rayburn, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native of Rochester, NY, and former resident of North Dakota, he had retired from 3M in 1995 as a Group Leader in Production, and was also a U.S Air Force Vietnam Veteran.

Rodney Horn, 58, of Kirbyville, Texas, died Oct. 6, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, Oct. 9th, at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Monday at E. E. Stringer Funeral Home.
