Jerry Lynn Smith, 65, of Jasper, passed away October 9, 2007 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native of Batson, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Jasper and had worked for many years as a machinist for Owens-Illinois and Lufkin Industries. He was also a Boy Scout Leader for the Troop in Jasper and loved wood working.
Military Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at West Oaks Cemetery under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper. The family will greet the public just prior to the service at the cemetery .
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Betty Smith of Jasper; Sons, J. Wade Smith and wife Denise of Jasper, and Kevin Smith and wife Wendy of Brookeland; Daughters, Wendy Matthews and husband Larry and Kim Williams all of Jasper; along with 7 grandchildren.
John Scott Mobley

John Scott Mobley, 10 week old son of Jery Mobley and Samantha Hardin of Jasper, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper with burial to follow at West Oaks Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at Forest Oaks.
Survivors include his parents Jery Mobley and Samantha Hardin of Jasper; Grandparents, John & Stacy Hardin of Jasper and Jeri Mobley of Kirbyville; Great-Grandparents, Weldon & Gloria Mobley and Roy & Connie Chenyworth all of Jasper, Martha Hardin of Brookeland, and Jerry & Lassie Hyden of Scrapping Valley; Great-Great-Grandparents Wilma George and Minnie Lee Williams both of Jasper, and Myrtle Hyden of Scrapping Valley.

Glen "Gris" Wright, 71, of Brookeland, passed away October 13, 2007 at his home. A native of San Augustine County, and a lifelong resident of Brookeland, he had retired from Amerigas after 30 years in 1995. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and camping.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith Tabernacle in Brookeland with burial to follow at nearby Remlig Cemetery under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation will be held beginning on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. until service time on Tuesday, at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug & Earline Wright.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Wright of Brookeland; Sons, Audy Wright & wife Sonya of Splendora, TX, and Greg Wright & wife Michelle of Brookeland; Daughters, Anita Willis & husband Roger and Glenda Sepulvado & husband Jessie all of Brookeland; Brother, Gerald Miller of Jasper; a special uncle, Avery Gary of Brookeland, and by his mother-in-law, Lizzie Beckworth of DeQuincy, LA; along with 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Jack McCoy, 42, of Newton, passed away October 15, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Houston. A native of Galion, OH, he was a service tech with Lakeway Tire in Jasper and enjoyed fishing and camping.

"Junior" Stephens, 59, of Jasper, passed away Monday morning, April 7, 2008 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Jasper, he had been a Party Chief Surveyor for many years and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. Junior also loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. A gathering of friends and family was held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the family home located at 12702 FM 777 in Beech Grove under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper. Survivors include his wife, Mary Stephens of Jasper, TX; Son, Cody Stephens of Groves, TX; Daughter, Cara Stephens of Orange, TX; Mother, Eloise Stephens of Jasper, TX; and his Brother, Keith Stephens of Jasper, TX . J. Kyle Neal, 63, of Bon WIer passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Forest Oaks Chapel in Jasper. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
A lifelong resident of the Jasper area he is survived by his son Ross Neal & wife Angie of Kingwood, Tx, a sister Sandra Sheffield & husband Jerry of Jasper, and 3 grandsons Barrett, Hayes, and Brady. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Anne E. Riddick, 84, of Jasper, Tx died at Timberlake Health and Rehabilitation, Tuesday September 16, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Forest Oaks Chapel with interment to follow at the West Oaks Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. A native of Marshall, Texas she was a former employee with the Monsanto Corp. from 1946 until moving to Jasper in 1981, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. During her years in Jasper she enjoyed gardening and being a member of the Civic Club and explored her talents as a artist. Anne was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She and Bill were married December 20, 1952 in Texas City, Texas.
Survivors include her husband William "Bill" Riddick of Jasper, sons William L. Riddick Jr. of Blanchard, La, and Alan Riddick & Melanie of Texas City, Tx, a brother Frank H. Sanders of the Tyler, Tx area, three grandchildren Ben, Jake, & James, and a special friend and caretaker Bobbie Wilkerson and staff at Timberlake Health and Rehabilitation of Jasper. Theda Turner Thacker, 69 of Wiergate passed away September 21, 2008 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Private services will be held at a later date. A native and longtime resident of Leesville, La she worked as a waitress at Rosies Café in Anacoco, La. After retiring she lived with family in Livingston, Tx and Wiergate, Tx. She is survived by daughters Virginia Wells of Wiergate, Tx, Sandra Miller of Citrus Springs, Fl, and Gayla Hinkle of Livingston, Tx. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Vanessa, Chris, Kaleb, & Alli, and a great-grand dog Caramel a.k.a. "Hoover". Services under the Direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper.
