David Raymond Hartwell, 60, of Jasper, died at his home September 25, 2008. Memorial services will be held on Saturday October 4, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. location will be 428 E. Lamar St. Jasper, TX. A native of Chicago, IL. he moved to Jasper from North Carolina in 1997, at the time of his death he was employed with the Golden Corral in Jasper as a cook. Survivors include his wife Linda Maddox of Jasper. A son David Hartwell of Oregon, a daughter Pamela Hartwell of Washington, a sister Darlene Smith of North Carolina, and a nephew Steven Auch and wife Heather of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Charles Lee Hilton, 67, of Jasper, died at the Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas on September 29, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday September 30, 2008 at Forest Oaks Chapel with private interment to follow at the Zion Hill Cemetery. A native of San Augustine County, Texas he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and worked as a forester for Temple-Inland, he resided in the Zion Hill Community for the past 28 years. Survivors include a wife Wilma Hilton of Zion Hill, Step-sons Jerry D. LeBlanc of Austin, TX. and Duane E. LeBlanc of Burkeville, TX. a step-daughter Dianne LeBlanc Chesson of Jasper, TX. Brothers William Hilton and Jessie Hilton of Nederland, TX. a Sister Linda Solace of Groves, TX. Eleven Grandchildren and several Great-Grandchildren.
James A. Owens

James A. Owens, 81, of Joplin, Missouri, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. A native of Buna, Tx. he resided most of his life in Buna until moving to his daughters home in Joplin, Missouri. one year ago. He served his country during W.W. II as a member of the U.S. Army and worked for many years as a welder for Marathon Oil and then Exxon until retiring. A mason for 60 years he was a member of the lodge in Buna and Jasper. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Antioch Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. located in Buna, TX. Survivors include Sons James Danny Owens of Wright, Wyoming and Marshall David Owens of Joplin, Missouri a daughter Donna E. Owens Tinker of Joplin, Missouri a sister Mary Gray of Orange, Texas Seven Grandchildren and Nine great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews James was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Edna Owens and was the youngest of eleven children.

Beulah Mae "Ma Prim" Primrose, 88, of Jasper, died at her daughter's home Sunday, October 05, 2008. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow at the Homer Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 6, 2008 at Forest Oaks from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A native of Port Arthur, Texas she graduated from high school in Nederland, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Jasper. Ma Prim was a longtime member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter Charlene 'Butch' Primrose of Jasper and a sister-in-law Bernice Campbell of Beaumont, Texas. Pallbearers will include Randy Dorman, Bill Gee, Bo Primrose, Hilton Lively, James Ray Smith, and Isaac Primrose. Honorary Pallbearers are Chad Dominy, O.W. Mallett, Bud Ralph, Mickey Brooks, and Albert Hensarling. Officiating the service will be Bro. Curtis Herrington and Bro. Mike Hancock. Special music will be provided by Waylon Balusek, Vina Mae & Neal Ellis, and Allen Hancock. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lakes Area Hospice at 254 Ethel Street in Jasper, Texas.

Billy Jack Woods, 63, of Jasper, died at M. D. Anderson Hospital October 19, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 22, 2008, visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday. A native of Jasper he lived in Lumberton from 1983-1990 when he returned to Jasper. He was employed with Micheal's as a Foreman and has been a longtime member of the Pipefitters Union #798 out of Tulsa, Ok. and #139 out of Pewaukee, WI.. He was known for his abilities outdoors at both Hunting and Fishing as well as Gardening. Survivors include his mother Geraldine Woods of Jasper, TX. Wife Kathy Woods of Jasper, TX. Sons Shannon and wife Amy Woods of Newton, TX. Cody and wife Kim Woods of Jacksonville, TX. and Troy Livingston of Wisconsin. Daughters Katy and husband Bryan Jansen of Vidor, TX. Candy and husband Robin Butt of Jacksonville, TX. Brothers Lloyd Woods of McKinney, TX., Bobby Joe Woods of Jasper, TX., Larry Woods of Tatum, TX. and Arthur Woods of Tyler, TX. Twelve Grandchildren Hayden, Taylor, Sadie, Tristen, Haley, Jacob, Hunter, Karley, Kelsie, Cameron, Ashleigh, and Christian. Two great-grandchildren Landon and Emily. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia Foundation.

Nina Almeda Roeder McDaniel, 50, of Jasper, died at Jasper Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jasper, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday July 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.
A native of Jasper, Texas she was a former employee of Jasper Nursing and Rehabilitation as a CNA.
Survivors include parents Charles & Ann Roeder of Jasper, Texas husband Edward McDaniel of Jasper, Texas son Gentry & wife Tery Roeder of Edna, Texas a daughter Janette Roeder of Jasper, Texas brothers Milton Roeder of Arkansas, John Roeder of Sheperd, Texas, and Robert Roeder of Jasper, Texas sisters Helen Astello of Jasper, Texas and Mary Dorthy of Brookeland, Texas Four Grandchildren.

Travis Wayne Mott, 78, of Jasper, TX, died July 4, 2008 at his brothers home in Quitaque, TX.
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Concord Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Concord Cemetery located in Angelina County. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 6, 2008 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper, TX. from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
A native of the Concord Community he lived in Angelina and Jasper County most of his life. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. Travis retired from the Teamster Union after numerous years of service.
Survivors include daughters Margaret B. McCoy and Lois Fay Smith both of Colorado Springs, CO. Brothers Gaylon Ray Mott of Magnolia, TX. and Billy M. Mott of Quitaque, TX. a Sister Vina Mae Ellis of Jasper, TX., Three Grandchildren and Two great-grandchildren.
