Phillip "Pete" King, 76, of Spurger, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, at his home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Oaks Chapel with interment to follow at Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. A native of Bronson, Texas, he was a resident of Orangefield, Tx and a longtime resident of Tyler County. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.

Calvin V. Hall
1921 - 2008
Calvin C. Hall, 87, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, in Lufkin at Woodland Heights Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Oaks Chapel with interment to follow at Friendship Cemetery in Roganville, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper.
A native of Roganville, he was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and a former employee of Mayberry Surveying. He retired from Jasper County in 1983 as an Equipment Operator for Precinct 1. He loved fishing and the outdoors. He served his country in WW II in the U.S. Army and was known on his base as the young man who made biscuits for General Patton.
His survivors include his daughter Brenda and husband Richard Leckie of Chandler, Tx, a granddaughter Denise Jones of Dallas, Tx, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles Charley Dugas
1922 - 2008
Charles J. "Charley" Dugas, 85, of Jasper, died May 27, 2008, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Tx. A native of Loreauville, Louisiana he retired from the National Maritime Union in Port Arthur with over 30 years of service. He moved from Jefferson County to Jasper County in 1987 and settled in the Ebenezer Community.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 30, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Rayburn Baptist Church with interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife Eunice Dugas of Jasper, sons Dr. Gene and Jackie Roberts of Arlington, Tx, Walt and Sue Roberts of Village Mills, Tx, daughters Francine and Floyd Gaspard of Port Arthur, Tx, Patricia and David Holland of Pearland, Tx, brother A.J. Dugas Jr. of Nederland, Tx, sister Nancy Prioux of Lumberton, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Judy Horger McLane
1943 - 2008
Judy Horger McLane, 65, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away May 21, 2008 at her home. A native of Jasper, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she was a Certified Flight Instructor, and an ace pilot.
Judy was a proud Texan, and married her high school sweetheart, Wesley McLane, to whom she has been dedicated for the last 48 years. She lost her short battle with pancreatic cancer on May 21, 2008.
She was a wonderful, dedicated mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She loved her family and stayed involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She has been affectionately known as "Mimi" since her first grandchild was born. Anything her family needed in this life, they knew "Mimi" would help them.
For the last 35 years, she has been an avid pilot, flight instructor and a member of the 99's, a women's flying association. Many of her closest friends are fellow pilots. She was a member of Healing Place Church and felt very blessed to have found such a wonderful, spirit filled church. She loved nothing better than to have her entire family at church on Sunday mornings.
She is survived by her husband who was the love of her life, Wesley McLane, her mother, Ollie Horger, sister, Mary Richards, brother Charles Horger (all of which are of Jasper) by her daughter, and son-in-law, Cindy McLane Smith and Dr. Lionel L. Smith, her son, Rusty McLane, her Daughter-in-law, Daphne Womack and her grandchildren, Brandon Bourgeois, Alex McLane, Barkley Booker, Avery Smith, Keaton Smith, and Darby MiMaggio. She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Horger, who was waiting to greet her at the gates of heaven.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 26, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
Bernice Williams
1923 - 2008
Bernice Williams, 85, of Jasper, passed away Sunday evening, May 18, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Oaks Chapel with interment to follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A native of DesdeMona, Texas she moved to Jasper in 1965 after Walter retired from the Air Force in Limestone, Maine. Bernice was employed with Jasper Independant School District as a Transportation Department employee for almost 24 years.
Survivors include sons Chuck Nelson and wife Vickie of Kemp, TX. Gene Nelson and wife Kathy of Joshua, TX. Gary Williams and wife Ann of Jasper, TX. and Mark Williams and wife Melissa of Jasper, TX. stepson Walter Eugene Williams of Hemitt, CA. and stepdaughter Dona Hurst of California. brother Leslie Trammell of Ft. Worth, TX. as well as a sister Madge Stewart of Houston, TX. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gary "Arnie" Palmer
1956 - 2008
Gary Robert "Arnie" Palmer, 51, of Jasper, passed away May 13, 2008 near Jasper. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a longtime resident of Jasper, Arnie had worked for Jasper County Precinct #1 in the Maintenance Department. He was a jack of all trades who loved carpentry work, mechanicing, and rebuilding motors. Arnie also loved his job and enjoyed very much the people that he worked with each day.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper with burial to follow at Homer Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Forest Oaks.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Neyland Palmer of Jasper; Sons, Shaun Allen Palmer, Chris Crosson, and Felix Palmer all of Jasper; Daughters, Jennifer Morgan and Meagan Palmer both of Jasper; Sisters, Darla Palmer and Jerae Palmer both of Pittsburgh, PA; along with 8 grandchildren.

L. Gene Wilson, 85, of Jasper, died at his home May 8, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at Forest Oaks Chapel on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the West Oaks Cemetery in Jasper, TX. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 11, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper, TX.
A native of Beaukiss, Texas, he served his country during W.W. II as a member of the U.S. Navy. Gene retired from Texaco after 36 years and moved from Groves, Texas to Jasper, Texas 24 years ago.
Survivors include his wife Oma Nell Wilson of Jasper, TX. Daughter, Lavada Jean Edwards of Roanes Prairie, TX. Brother, Jeff Wilson of Houston, TX. Sisters, Gertie Wenzel of Taylor, TX. and Viola Shiller of Thrall, TX., as well as two Grandchildren.
