Mr. Carl Massey, Jr., age 83, Of Jasper County, Texas, died Monday March 16, 2009 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was a life long resident of Jasper County. He was a retired construction worker. Private Services will be held. He is survived by His Son John Massey of Jasper. 2 Daughters Jo Ann Jordan and Her Husband Jimmy and Helen Massey all of Jasper. Sons in Law Terry Moore and Benny Mathews. Nephew Jack and wife Sureal Gwen. He was preceded in death by His Wife Esther Massey, Son Lee Massey, Sr., Daughter Evelyn Moore and Grandson Lee Massey, Jr. He is survived by ll grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Woods, 89, of Jasper, died at Timberlake Health and Rehabilitation Sunday March 15, 2009. Visitation will be Friday, March 20 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Forest Oaks Chapel. Services will Saturday, March 21, at the Forest Oaks Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at West Oaks Cemetery. A native of Roganville, she lived in the Jasper and Newton County area all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Woods, and two sons Lee Henry and Billy Jack Woods. Geraldine is survived by four sons Lloyd Woods of McKinney, Texas; Bobby Joe Woods of Jasper, Texas; Larry Bruce Woods of Tatum, Texas and Arthur Frank Woods of Tyler, Texas. Two brothers J. W. Adams of Vidor, Texas and Alton Adams of Kirbyville. Two sisters Audie Green of Carthage, Texas, Margaret Andrews of Center, Texas. Sixteen Grandchildren and Twenty great-grandchildren, and Three great-great-grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper.

Louise Collier, 88, of Cleveland, passed from this life at County Haven Senior Care on Wednesday March 11, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 14, 2009 at Forest Oaks Chapel with interment to follow at the Hancock Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A native of Pecan Island, LA. she was a resident of Jasper and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, before moving to New Caney, TX. Survivors include sons Donnis Collier and wife Darlene of New Caney, TX. and Thomas Collier of Porter, TX. A brother Donald Blanchette and wife Sue of Orange, TX. Sister, Georgia Gunter of New Caney, TX. John Carroll, 82, of Jasper, died at his home on Wednesday evening, April 1, 2009. Funeral services will be held Friday April 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m in the Forest Oaks Chapel with interment to follow at the Campground Cemetery. Family members will greet the public from 12:00 noon until service time. A native of Galveston, Tx. he served his country during W.W. II as a member of the U.S. Navy, after the service he was employed with the United States Postal Service in Galveston and later in Jasper from 1968 until he retired in 1982. Bertie Young Montie, 72, of Channelview, TX, died at the Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, TX. on Saturday April 4, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at her brother's home located in the in the Rock Hill Community at 211 County Road 310 south of Jasper across from the Zion Hill Baptist church. A native of Bronson, Tx. she lived in the Houston area since 1961 but made regular visits to keep in touch with her East Texas roots. Survivors include a husband Don J. Montie of Jasper, TX. Daughters Jean and husband Clyde Fatheree of Baytown, TX., Marjorie Howell of Channelview, TX. and Bonnie and husband Eugene Wholly of Lemmon, SD. A brother Don and wife Melissa Young of Jasper, TX. Sisters Eithia and husband Leo McCullough of Dayton, TX., Ann Midkiff of Kirbyville, TX., and Barbara Gray of Jasper, TX. Five grandchildren Jessie, Tabathia, Colleen, Eugene, and Misty. Eleven great-grandchildren Danielle, Rhiannon, Jessica, Bayley, Jasmine, Kaitlyn, Destiny, Isabella, Trinity, Trason, and Madison.

Robert Earl Shaver, 68, of Jasper, died at his home Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Forest Oaks Chapel. A native of Sabine County he was a lifelong resident of the East Texas area and was the owner and operator of Robert's Body Shop, he was known as a outdoors men who loved hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his family and friends.
