Dorothy Faye Primrose Lange, born October 17, 1927, passed away Monday evening, February 22, 2010. She was very active in her churches, community organizations and at work in her hometown of Jasper and home in Vidor until her illness in late 2009. Dorothy faithfully cared for her parents over a period of 20 years during their final days. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents RC and Fay Primrose. She is survived by her son, Rusty Lange and wife, Ami of Vidor, daughter, Amanda Richey of Dallas, granddaughter Tiffani Wilkinson and husband, Brandon, grandsons, Jeremy Lange and Ryan Lange, great-grandson Caden Wilkinson, brother, Billy Primrose of Jasper, sisters, Oline Harris of Denton, TX., and Mary Jane Morgan of Jasper and much extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper, with burial to follow at Homer Cemetery in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, a visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Forest Oaks Funeral Home of Jasper. She will be dearly missed by her large family and countless friends. She left a void on this planet that cannot be replaced. Katy F. Streeper
1929 - 2010
Katy Florine Streeper, 80, of Jasper, died at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Oaks Chapel with the family to greet friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Katy was born December 4, 1929 at home in Hull, Texas to George H. Christman and Katy Jones Stanton. She graduated from Batson High School in 1947. She attended Sam Houston State University one year, Brigham Young University one year and graduated from Texas A&I; University in Kingsville, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Teaching in 1951. She met her future husband, Gerald A. Streeper while he was stationed at Kingsville Naval Air Station and she was coaching basketball & teaching in Woodsboro, Texas. They were married January 18, 1952 in Agua Dulce, Texas. After living for ten years in Roeland Park, Kansas they returned to Pettus, Texas where she taught Elementary school while her husband, Jerry taught High School. They moved to Jasper in 1970, where she taught until retiring in 1987. After retirement she enjoyed flower gardening, reading and visiting her extended family. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald A. Streeper, a sister Lola Crawford of Woodville, Texas a son Gerald A. and wife Denise Streeper, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and daughters Cathleen Streeper Everett of Austin, Texas, Carolyn Lee McQueen of Jasper, Texas, Kimberly Ann and husband John Ingle of Houston, Texas and Nancy Kay Parten of Houston, Texas. Nine grandchildren David Lee Everett, Gina Willis, Clayton McQueen, Brian McQueen, Randy Sessums, Katy Sessums, Nathan Streeper, Alyson Streeper and Evangeline Parten. Four great-grandchildren Audra, Cole, Damian and Cooper. Also survived by many loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are pending at Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory.

Karen Couch Smith, 62, of Deer Park, Texas, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Texas Specialty Hospital in Houston, Texas. Graveside services will be held at West Oaks Cemetery, Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Family will greet friends at Forest Oaks Chapel on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. A native of Houston, Texas she was a graduate of Jasper High School in 1965 and moved to Houston in 1967 where she was employed with Eastern Airlines for several years as a reservist, she was a coordinator for Exxon Mobil until her retirement in November of 2006. Survivors include a son Michael and wife Shawna Smith a daughter Stephanie Smith and fiance James Stanley all of Deer Park, Texas. Grandchildren, Truxton, Elizabeth, Casey and Pasley.

Neil Davis, 56, of Jasper, died at his home on Monday, March 1, 2010. A native of Mobile, Alabama, he was a U.S. Army veteran. A resident of Jasper since 1971, he was employed as a Maintenance Foreman with the Jasper Housing Authority. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Oaks Chapel with friends invited to visit and enjoy memories of Neil. Survivors include brothers, "Rudy" Rudolph Davis Jr. of Jasper, Texas and Edgar Glenn Davis.
Dr. William Horace Hanna
1922 - 2010
Dr. William Horace "Bill" Hanna, 88, of Jasper, died at his home Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper with interment to follow at the West Oaks Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Friday evening at Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A native of Iuka, Mississippi he was a U.S. Navy Veteran, after serving his country he practiced medicine for almost 40 years until retirement when he moved back to Jasper from Galveston. Survivors include his wife, Mary Doris "Bitsy" Hanna of Jasper, Texas. Son, William Parker "Bill" Hanna of Marble Falls, Texas, and a Daughter, Margaret Putney of Boerne, Texas. He is survived by a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Charles David Goudeau, 38, of Ville Platte, Louisiana, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 as a result of a accident while working on a sign at Weaver Brothers Motor Company in Kirbyville, Texas. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010 i Bunkie, LA. with interment following at the Pythian Cemetery in Bunkie. Mr. Goudeau was employed with Kojis & Son Signs for the past five years. Survivors include a wife Wanda Griffith Goudeau of Bayou Chicot, daughters Courtney and Charlie Goudeau both of Bayou Chicot, parents Jerry & Lillian Goudeau of Bunkie, LA. a brother Andrew Goudeau and wife Pam of Pine Prarie as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Local arrangements were under direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory in Jasper, Texas.
John Barry
1923 - 2010
John "Jack" Barry, 86, of Burkeville, Texas, died at his home in Toledo Village on Friday, March 12, 2010. Private Memorial services will be held at Forest Oaks Chapel on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. He was born on May 23, 1923 in West Haven, CT to Mabel Fredenburgh Barry and John David Barry. He attended school in West Haven, graduating in 1942. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1942 and served in active engagement with the enemy on Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. He was on Iwo Jima when the American flag was raised. He received an honorable discharge in December 1945 as a sergeant. He attended Western State College in Gunnison, CO where he earned BA and MA degrees. His career in education took him from Colorado to California to Guam, where he moved from classroom teaching into administration. From Guam, he moved to Pohnpel in Micronesia to serve as principal of the high school, a boarding school for students from all of the Trust Territory. He was promoted to Education Administrator for Pohnpel district, moved from there to Hawaii where he was top salesman in the state for educational equipment. He left Hawaii to work for seven years in educational administration for the Department of Education, Government of America Samoa. He is survived by wife, Marilyn Barry of Toledo Village; daughters, Jan and husband, Bob Carroll of Poughkeepsie, NY; Debra and husband, Ken Burnside of Conifer, CO; Marta and husband, Pete Richardson of Kingwood, Texas; brother, Don and wife, Nancy Barry of Long Island, NY; sister, Joan and husband George Kling of Bradford, CT.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Saint Christopher's Home Healthcare, Odyssey Hospice, and Toledo Village Baptist Church for their care and support.
