BALLINGER - Ludwig F. Schwertner, 85, of Rowena, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 1998, at his home.
Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, at the church with Father Benedict Zientek and Father Stephen Kennelly co-celebrating.
Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Ludwig was born on April 4, 1913, in Rowena, to Frank and Adala Ernst Schwertner, Jr.
He farmed in the Rowena, area and did custom harvesting.
He married Olivia F. Moeller on Nov. 18, 1935, in Rowena.
She preceded him in death on May 14, 1998.
He was a member of the Rowena Lions Club and was a charter member of the Rowena Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a past director of the First National Bank in Rowena.
He served on the board of St. Joseph's School and St. Joseph's Parish Council and was a member of the St. Joseph's Society.
He also was a member of the Sons of Hermann and was a trustee for the ODHS Hall in Rowena, for more than 20 years.
Ludwig also was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Pechacek; a brother, Victor Schwertner; and a grandson, David Schwertner.
He is survived by two sons, Lloyd Schwertner of San Angelo, and Maynard Schwertner and his wife, Nancy, of Rowena; two daughters, Jane Holtman of Ballinger, and Rita Frey and her husband, Will, of Mason; a brother, Robert Schwertner of Rowena; and two sisters, Katherine Werner of Ballinger, and Lily Schraer of Lowake.
He also is survived by 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Kyle and Rose Green, David and Helen Hulse, Lamar and Karen Evans, Bonnie Holtman, Derek and Becky Holtman, David and Roxanne Benefield, Kevin and Fran Herron, Ty and Mary McMillan, Holly Frey, Jason Schwertner, Jeff Schwertner, Brad Schwertner, Becky Schwertner and Matt Schwertner; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery Association or a favorite charity.
KARLA MARIE COOK
BALLINGER -- Karla Marie Cook, 39, of Grapevine, and formerly of Ballinger, died Sunday afternoon, June 8, 1997, at her residence.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Hubert Wade officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Olfen.
Karla was born, Jan. 15, 1958, in Ballinger, to Edwin Zly and Marcella Jean Fischer Zly.
She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1976 and had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She worked for Higginbotham's for several years before moving to Grapevine, where she attended St. Francis Catholic Church and worked as a bookkeeper for Allstate Insurance for 10 years.
She married John Cook, June 26, 1976, in Ballinger.
She was preceded in death by her mother on April 1, 1968.
Survivors include her husband, John Cook of Grapevine; a son, David Adam Cook of the home; her father and stepmother, Edwin and Eldoris Zly of Ballinger; five sisters, Ellen Jean Duke of San Angelo, Laura Brevard of Grapevine, Martha Rose of San Angelo, Eddie Wiess of Ohio, and Becky Zly of Dallas; her grandmother, Elanora Zly of Ballinger; a stepsister, Joan Lange of Miles; a stepbrother, Herbie Goetz of San Antonio; five nieces; six nephews; three great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
BENNIE VICTOR MAZUR
Bennie Victor Mazur, 77, of San Angelo, died Monday, March 9, 1998, in a San Angelo hospital.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Charles Greenwell officiating.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Bennie was born, June 14, 1920, in Rowena, Texas, to Henry and Francis Mazur.
Bennie was married to Pauline Strakos on Nov. 27, 1950, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Bennie worked for West Texas Vending of San Angelo, and Odessa, for 27 years.
He retired in 1981 and moved back to San Angelo, where he worked for Southland Frames for eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline of San Angelo; three children, Kenneth Mazur and wife, Rynn, of Oregon City, Ore., Michael Mazur and wife, Sarah, of Odessa, and Kathie Jones and husband, Charles, of San Angelo; one brother, Jerry Mazur of San Angelo; three sisters, Dorine Schroeder of Ballinger, Jerline Halfmann of Big Spring, and Janet Nolder of Del Rio; seven grandchildren, Kelly Hatfield and husband, Lew, of Vancouver, Wash., Kacy Mazur of Oregon City, Adrianne and Kent Mazur of Odessa, and Jaclyn and Lori Jones of San Angelo; one great-granddaughter, Clara Hatfield of Vancouver; and many nieces and nephews. Nephews will be pallbearers.

Robert L. Coon died at home in Waco, on Thursday, 10 April 2003, at age 75.
His funeral was Sunday, 13 April 2003 at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, with Rev. Nolan W. Garrett, pastor of Emmanuel United Anglican Church, officiating, and burial was to be in Norton Cemetery, Norton, Texas.
He was born, 30 October 1927, in Houston, Texas.
He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, and was a retired agent for Internal Revenue Service.
He was active in the Republican Party of McLennan County.
His wife, Jean, and a son, Michael, predeceased him.
Survivors: three daughters and one son.
There were also five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and Bob's sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were requested for this church or to American Cancer Society.

Robert L. Coon, age 75, of Waco, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 10, 2003.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2003 at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., with the Rev. Nolan W. Garrett officiating.
Interment will be at Norton Cemetery, Norton, Texas.
Bob was born on October 30, 1927 in Houston, Texas.
He was a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and a lifetime member of the Texas Exes Association.
Bob, a retired agent for the Internal Revenue Service, was very active in the Republican Party of McLennan County, and was a member of the Emmanuel United Anglican Church of Waco.
He regularly attended Senior Continuing Education classes at Baylor University.
He was an avid traveler and was actively involved in community service.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jean and a son, Michael.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Holbrook & husband, Tommy of Whitney, Vicki Goetz & husband, Herbie of San Antonio, and Laura Thomas & husband, Terry of Pasadena; son, Alan Coon & wife, Elizabeth of St. Louis, MO.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Carver of Pasadena.

FORT WORTH - Dolores Margaret Glass, 66, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, in Arlington.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Rita Catholic Church.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.
She was born, March 15, 1933, in Rowena.
She had been a longtime resident of Dallas, and Arlington, coming from Rowena.

She retired after 25 years with the Kirsch Company.
She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the Carmelite Auxiliary.
Survivors include five sisters, Rosalie Dierschke of Rowena, Felda Lange and Bernice Halfmann, both of Olfen, Mary Ann Halfmann of Van Court, and Betsy Kalina of Arlington; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Glass of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Samuel Young Johnston
Born: 01 April 1832
Died: 21 February 1901
S.Y. Johnston departed this life, Feb. 21, 1901; was born in the state of Georgia, and went with his parents to Alabama, when he was a boy.
There he lived and was married to Miss Lucinda Gray, whose brother died a short time ago at Crews.
Mr. Johnston came from Alabama, to Texas, in 1891, and here lived until his death.
While he served as county commissioner 2 years, he was a Methodist preacher 18 years before his death.
He made his church a good member as well as minister.
His remains were laid to rest in Winters Cemetery, Feb. 23.
