JAMES TAYLOR DEAD; SISTER VERY ILL
Born Nov 23, 1883
Died Feb 12, 1915

When the news rapidly spread over our little city early Friday morning that James Taylor was dead, many heads were caused to drop in sorrow.

While it was known by his closest friends that he was ill, it was not generally known that his condition was serious and that death was so near.

This young man contracted pneumonia less than a week ago, and the physicians were called to see him at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Morgan on Sixth street, where he has been making his home for some time.

Every attention possible to prolong life was given the sick man, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Taylor of Norton, were notified and were constantly at his bedside during the last hours of his death.

Death came at 7:20 Friday morning, and the soul of a young man who was loved by all who knew him and whose future was bright, passed from this life.

Mr. Taylor was in his 31st year, and had lived the greater part of this time in Runnels County, and had been identified with business and social life in Ballinger, for about eight or ten years, having held positions with different firms here and was with the Higdon Melton-Jackson store up to the first of the year, when he retired from that firm.

Deceased was a member of the Baptist church, and those who were familiar with his daily life know that he lived in keeping with the teachings of his church, and his life was above reproach.

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, his membership in that order being at Norton, where his parents reside.

REMAINS OF YOUNG MAN LAID TO REST SATURDAY

The remains of James Taylor, who died at seven-twenty Friday morning, were removed from the home of his sister, Mrs. Morgan on Sixth street to the Ninth Street Baptist Church, Saturday at one o'clock, and Rev. W.B. Adkins preached the funeral sermon, and the choir rendered a number of songs, and a tribute of honor was paid to the life that had just passed from this world.

After the services at the church, the Masons took charge of the remains and they were laid to rest in the Ballinger cemetery with Masonic honors.

A long procession made up of people from many parts of the county, and especially of the Norton community, where the parents of the deceased lived, followed the remains to their last resting place, and attested to his high standing and popularity.

Flowers made into bouquets and wreaths covered the mound that marks the resting place of one who will be greatly missed from the social and business circles of our little city.
