Ballinger - Jerome Joseph Lange, 77, of Rowena, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, in Ballinger Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday, June 23, at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at St Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Stephen Kennelly officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rowena.
Arrangements are by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Lange was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Olfen, Texas, to Robert Lange and Hildagare Matthiesen Lange.
He was married to Evelyn Halfmann in Rowena.
He was a veteran and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9196 in Rowena.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gilbert Lange.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Halfmann Lange of Rowena; two sons, Allan Lange and wife Wanda, of Wall, and Warren Lange and wife, Sharon of San Angelo, one daughter, Jenifer Lange of Grand Prairie; four brothers, Werner Lange of Rowena, R.B. Lange of San Angelo; George Lange of Austin, and Hubert Lange of San Antonio; three sisters, Elvira Halfmann, Adeline Eggemeyer and Dorothy Frerich, all of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Heather Lange, Shanna Lange, Amber Lange, Dustin Lange, Kendrick Lange, Heath Lange and Blake Lange; and his mother -inlaw, Sarah Halfmann.
Memorials may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center or a favorite charity.

FRED JOSEPH HOELSCHER

Fred Joseph Hoelscher, 75, of San Angelo, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Fred was born in Runnels County, on Aug. 25, 1922, to W.C. and Josephine (Halfmann) Hoelscher.
He spent his early years in Runnels County, moving to the Wall community in 1936, where the family was engaged in farming.
Shortly after the Pearl Harbor attack, he enlisted in the Air Corps, where he served for 3 years.
After his discharge, he returned to farming.
In 1947, he bought land and farmed in Glasscock County, in what was later called the St. Lawrence community.
He married Ella Joy Bolen on Jan. 12, 1948.
They lived in St. Lawrence, until Fred retired from farming in 1985.
At that time, they moved to San Angelo.
During his years in St. Lawrence, Fred was active in church and community affairs.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Lawrence Men's Society, where he held various offices.
He was instrumental in establishing the Glasscock County Co-op Gin and was one of the gin's original directors.
He served two terms on the Glasscock County School Board and three terms as a Glasscock County commissioner.
He also served on the FHA committee.
Fred spent his retirement years enjoying fishing, traveling and playing dominoes with family and friends.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
He always put his family first and looked forward to their visits and phone calls.
His grandchildren were a special delight.
He loved people and considered everyone he met a friend.
Fred was a man of strong faith and patiently accepted whatever befell him.
He was a kind and generous man who shared his blessings with the less fortunate.
Survivors include Joy, his wife of 49 years; and seven children and their spouses, Linda and Denis Niehues, David and Doris Hoelscher, Karen and Rodney Ripple, Barbara and Dennis Fuchs, Harold and Ann Hoelscher, Janet and Howard Book and Carl and Kara Hoelscher.
He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, Greg, Cheryl, Becky and Gina Niehues, Glen, Gail and Randy Hoelscher, Kevin and Brandon Ripple, Michael, Allan, Jennifer and Michelle Fuchs, Steven and Lisa Hoelscher, Tracie, Bryan, Lori and Julie Book and Katelyn and Austin Hoelscher; three sisters, Olga Kessler of San Antonio, Leona Hailey and Ernestine Lange of San Angelo; and two brothers, Arthur Hoelscher of St. Lawrence and Edwin Hoelscher of George West.
In remembrance of his generosity to those in need, the family requests memorials be made to Meals for the Elderly, Christmas in April, West Texas Rehab or Hospice of San Angelo.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Wake service was Monday, Sept. 1, at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

ANNIE HOLTMAN

BALLINGER - Annie Holtman, 92, of Rowena, and formerly of the Olfen community, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, in the Meadow Creek Nursing Home in San Angelo.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the church with the Rev. Father Stephen Kennelly officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Olfen.
Arrangements are by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Holtman was born Sept. 25, 1905, in Westphalia, Texas, to Joseph Kahlig and Matilda Rieger Kahlig.
She married Ben Holtman on Sept. 8, 1925, in Westphalia.
He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1979.
She also was preceded by her parents; and three brothers, Irwin, Leo and Joe.
She lived in the Olfen community most of her life and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church prior to moving to Rowena, and becoming a member of St. Joseph's.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Christian Mothers of Olfen.
Survivors include two sons, Wilfred Holtman and his wife, Mary Ann, and Ray Holtman and his wife, Jane, all of Rowena; a sister, Tillie Smetana of Temple; three brothers, Clarence Kahlig of San Antonio, Ben Kahlig of Westphalia and George Kahlig of Temple; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

NORMAN JOHN DIERSCHKE

Norman John Dierschke left the pain of this world on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Family and his many dear friends are invited to a rosary service at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel and to a celebration of Norman's life at a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall.
Burial will follow in St. Ambrose Cemetery.
Norman was born on June 6, 1916, in Moulton, to Joseph and Martha Lorke Dierschke.
As a young man, he worked on a farm in the Bethel community near Ballinger, where he met the love of his life, Cora Anna Wilde.
They married on Feb. 6, 1941, and soon moved to the Wall area, where Norman farmed cotton and milo.
He was also one of the pioneering farmers to develop new farmland in the St. Lawrence community.
Until his retirement, Norman was a very active worker in community and charitable organizations.
He worked diligently for the Lipan Creek Flood Control District for about 25 years.
He was the first male president of the Wall School PTA.
He also worked with the Tuberculosis Association for a number of years and had been a member of the Rotary Club.
Norman served as director of the Tom Green County Farm Bureau for 30 years.
He was honored numerous times for his membership recruitment efforts.
A devout Catholic all of his life, Norman devoted a great deal of time and effort in worship and in working for the betterment of his church community.
He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4316.
He was also a member of the St. Ambrose Men's Society and had served as president of the local chapter of Catholic Life Insurance Society.
After his retirement from farming, he attended Mass daily.
He became fast friends with Father Jesu, a visiting priest from India.
Norman took Father Jesu home with him each morning after Mass for breakfast; Norman also taught him to drive a car.
Norman believed that his greatest wealth was the companionship of his many friends.
He loved deer hunting and the great buck stories, playing dominoes and skat, and spending time with all his "buddies" at the cotton gin.
He was one of the earliest members of the Wall Sharpshooters.
His wonderful sense of humor will be sorely missed by his family and his friends.
Norman is survived by his beloved wife, Cora, and his five sons and their wives, Kenneth and Binnie, Norman, Jr. and Linda, Larry and Donna, Glenn and Margo, and Robert and Cindy.
He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kenny and Kim Dierschke and Ryne of Denver City, Patrick and Michele Dierschke, Jacob and Mackenzie of San Antonio, Kara Dierschke of Irving, Ward and Amy Dierschke and Allie of San Angelo, Carissa and Larry Rossi and Lane of Seminole, Paige Dierschke of College Station, Julie and Mark Bateman, Lauren and Michael of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Kevin and Becky Dierschke, Angela and Holly, Kayla and Jimmy Don Jones and Emily, Dustin, Drew, Meagan and Brooke Dierschke and Megan Beecher, all of San Angelo.
He is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Thumann of Houston.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Johnson's Funeral Home.
The family expresses deep appreciation to all those who gave special care to Norman during his illness, especially the dedicated people from Hospice of San Angelo, and Total Home Health.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo, or to a favorite charity.
"He'll bring laughter to the angels!"

In Memory of Sarah Ann PORCH
Birth: 25 January 1838
Death: 27 May 1906

The subject of this sketch was born in Tallapoosa county, Ala., Jan. 25th, 1838; was married to Bryant Porch, Jan. 29th, 1852, and died near Atoka, May 27th, 1906, aged 68 years, and was laid to rest at Midway burying ground.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Stodard of Glen Cove, who paid a high tribute to the memory of this noble woman.
Mrs. Porch was converted and joined the M.E. church in her girlhood days and lived a faithful, conscientious Christian until her death.
During her four weeks of suffering she bore up with Christian fortitude.
She frequently called her children around her bed and admonished them to be noble men and women, and be good and kind to each other and meet her in heaven.
She leaves an aged and infirm companion.
May the God who directed her through her life and stood by her in death, lead him in his declining years, just as he did her.
And her children!
May the prayers of a devoted mother ever be cherished by them.
May they emulate her noble life, live as she lived, die as she died, triumphant in the Lord.
Burial: Midway Cemetery, Coleman County, Texas

Jesse JENKINS
Died: 27 March 1974, Winters, Runnels County, TX

Winters - Jesse L. Jenkins, 73, of Winters, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday in the North Runnels Hospital.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Spill Memorial Chapel.
The Rev. Virgil James, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
Born Feb. 15, 1901, in Runnels County, in the Crews Community, he married Carmen Bowlin, Oct. 9, 1922 in McKinney.
He farmed in the Crews Community until 1953, when he moved to the Dale community.
His wife preceded him in death in 1972.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Norval Alexander of Winters, Mrs. Calvin Montgomery of Marietta, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Weldon Foreman of Whitesboro; one brother, Clyde of Artesia, N.M.; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Fleming of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Brown, Wilburn Phelps, Donnie Gibbs, Wesley Hort, Bill Mayo and Joe Irvin.

CHARLIE JOHN KVAPIL

BALLINGER - Charlie John Kvapil, 90, of Ballinger, died Friday, July 30, 1999, in Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring.
Charlie had lived in Comanche Trail Nursing Center in Big Spring, for the last four years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vlasta "Pat" Kvapil in February 1995; and one daughter, Evelyn.
A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena.
Charlie John Kvapil was born near Rowena, in Runnels County, in 1908 to Frank and Mary Kvapil.
Charlie was the remaining child from a family of 11 children.
Seven of Charlie's brothers and sisters were born in Europe.
He attended the Kristoff School near Rowena.
In 1930, Charlie enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio.
After military service, Charlie returned to Rowena, and married Vlasta Pospichal in 1934.
Together they lived and farmed in the Miles and Rowena, areas until 1952 at which time they moved to Ballinger, and operated a laundry.
Charlie then worked and retired from Mueller Supply Co.
After his retirement, from time to time, Charlie entertained the elderly living in the Ballinger nursing homes with his accordion.
Charlie would play his guitar and keyboard, but preferred his accordion over the other instruments.
Charlie is survived by his three children, James Kvapil and his wife, Mildred, of Liberal, Kan.; Sylvia Rohmfeld and her husband, Fred, of Burleson, and Elaine Mucha and her husband, Frederic, of San Angelo.
Grandchildren are Wanda and Mitch Landry of Austin, Wade and Leslie Kvapil of San Antonio, David and Kathy Rohmfeld of Arlington, Brady and Amy Stephenson of San Antonio, and Victoria Stephenson of San Angelo.
Charlie also is survived by seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Comanche Trail Nursing Center.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
