Oscar Adolph Pechacek, 79, of San Angelo, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1997, in a local hospital after a sudden illness.
Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Maurice Voity officiating.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Oscar was born to Emil and Elizabeth Pechacek in Halletsville, Texas, June 20, 1917.
He married Dora Schwertner on Dec. 30, 1940, in Rowena.
Oscar farmed in the Eola, Norton and St. Lawrence communities, until he retired in 1986, and moved to San Angelo.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Charles and Marie Pechacek of St. Lawrence, Pat and Laverne Hall of Sweetwater, and Bill and Sharon Baird of Ballinger; six grandchildren and their spouses, Curtis and Missy Pechacek, Stephen and Michele Halfmann, Jimmy Deckard, Chuck Deckard, Mark Baird and Travis Baird; eight great-grandchildren, Leland, Taylor and Brandi Pechacek, Justin Troy and Leah Halfmann and Amanda and Dustin Deckard; two sisters, Dee Yuncker and Bernice Pechacek of Midland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

ED WANORECK, SR.

Ed Wanoreck, Sr., 98, of San Angelo, died at 2:41 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 1997.
Rosary for Mr. Wanoreck will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, officiated by Monsignor Larry Droll.
Burial will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Wall.
Ed is survived by his wife, Annie; a son, Ed Wanoreck Jr. and his wife, Nola, of Mereta; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Wanoreck of San Angelo; one brother, Herbert Wanoreck of Eldorado; and seven grandchildren, Sandra Speer and husband, Dale, of San Angelo, Diane Goble and husband, Ralph, of San Angelo, Michael Wanoreck and wife, Sharon, of Rowena, Eugene Wanoreck, Jr., and wife, Katy, of Mereta, Judy Odell and husband, Jeff, of San Angelo, Gary Wanoreck and wife, Denise, of Mereta, and Debra Hoelscher and husband, Greg, of San Angelo.
He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Travis, Jamie, Jodi, Jacalyn and Cory Wanoreck, April Schwartz, Bobby Speer, Brandi Goble, Phillip Wanoreck and Courtney and Slayton Hoelscher; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wanoreck was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Wanoreck; his brothers, Victor and Albert Wanoreck; and his sisters, Lena Stock, Emma Hoelscher, Ella Halfmann, Hilda Hoelscher and Lizzie Pelzel.
Mr. Wanoreck was born June 18, 1898, to Joe and Lena Wanoreck in Rockdale, Texas.
His family moved to the Olfen community in 1910.
He attended Olfen school.
As a young man, he helped build the St. Boniface Church in Olfen, and St. Joseph Church in Rowena.
He farmed in the Olfen, and Rowena, communities.
In the 1930s, he moved to Wall to farm.
There, he married Annie Hejl on Oct. 12, 1935.
In 1941, he moved to Mereta, to farm until his retirement in 1961, when he moved to San Angelo.
He was a former director of the Mereta Co-op Gin, a member of the Rowena Sons of Hermann Lodge and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Wanoreck, Gary Wanoreck and Eugene Wanoreck, Jr., Jeff Odell, Ralph Goble and Greg Hoelscher.
The family would like to thank Home Care Nurses and the staff.

Charles Clyde Tippett
Born: 19 August 1898
Died: 11 Jun 1974

WINTERS (SC) - Clyde Tippett, 75, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday en route to Ballinger Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with burial in Lakeview Cemetery, under direction of Spill Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 19, 1898 in Grayson County.
At the age of 3, he came with his parents to Runnels County, settling in the Crews community, east of Winters.
He was married to Ella Francis Casey on Nov. 9, 1919 at Crews.
In 1954, the family moved to Winters.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Bernice Tippett of Odessa, and Avery Tippett of Hobbs, N.M.; six daughters, Mrs. Olemar Brooker of Denton, Mrs. Wardell Long of Winters, Mrs. Tom Aley of Big Lake, Mrs. Carroll Brooker of Hobbs, N.M., Mrs. J.R. Wilson of Palacios, and Mrs. Gene Steadham of Libya, North Africa; one sister, Mrs. John Lee of Ballinger, 31 grandchildren 30 great-grandchildren.

Vera Simpson

ABILENE - Vera Mae Simpson, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, in a local hospital.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Community Memorial Funeral Home.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena, with burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
She was born July 25, 1921, in Rowena.
She worked at the Abilene State School and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the World War I Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Albert "A.J." Simpson of Houston and Marvin Hasenak of Abilene; a stepson, Ronald Simpson of Houston; a daughter, Dolores Rollins of Abilene; a brother, A.E. "Ernest" Schwertner of Miles; four sisters, Augusta Smith of Lubbock, Leona Dorotik of Wall, Lula Marecek of Rowena, and Josephine Gentry of Miles; three grandsons; and several step-great-grandchildren.

ROSIE MARIE URBANTKE

Rosie Marie Urbantke, 85, of San Angelo, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997, in a local nursing home.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Zoar United Church of Christ in Rowena, with burial in Rowena Protestant Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
She was born April 9, 1912, in Rowena.
She was a homemaker and a member of Zoar United Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Alton Urbantke and Lloyd Urbantke, both of San Angelo; a daughter, Rosalyn Hoelscher of San Antonio; a sister, Vollie Urbantke of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Hoyett Overton Riddle
Born: 18 May 1908
Died: 2 Feb 1979

TEMPLE - Hoyett O. Riddle, 70, of Temple, relative of several Abilene, and area residents, died Friday afternoon in a local hospital after a short illness.
Services wat 10 a.m. Monday in Hewett Funeral Home Chapel in Temple.
Burial will follow in Pendleton Cemetery in Pendleton, near Temple.
Born May 18, 1908, in Winters, he was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; a son, Curtis Riddle; three daughters, Joyce Townsend, Arlene Cate, and Carolyn Shillig; three brothers, Coy Riddle of Winters, and Delton and Anderson Riddle of Abilene; a sister, Inez Mayfield of Robert Lee; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

CLARA TUMLINSON

BALLINGER - Clara Tumlinson, 98, of Rowena, passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at the Heritage Oaks Estate in Ballinger.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in the Protestant Cemetery in Rowena, with the Rev. Sonya Gravlee officiating.
Arrangements are by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Clara was born on March 8, 1899, in Westphalia, Texas, to the late Louis and Katie Goeke Kurzman.
She married Ed E. Pfluger on June 1, 1918, in Dundee, Texas.
They moved to Rowena, in 1939, where she remained a resident the rest of her life.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Zoar United Church of Christ in Rowena, and had worked at Zentners Cafe in Rowena, for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, on Aug. 25, 1943, and by one brother, one sister and two sons-in-laws.
Clara is survived by her son, Joe Pfluger of San Angelo, and her daughters, Katie Priem of San Angelo, and Edleen Buxkemper of Rowena.
Also, surviving are grandchildren, Oleen Priem of San Angelo, Barbara and Kenneth Lange of Miles, Linda and Wilbert Dieringer of Garden City, and Robert and Kim Buxkemper of Ballinger; six great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who cared for her during her many years at Heritage Oaks Estate.
Also, thanks to Family Hospice for their special care in her final days, especially Kathy, Tammy and Don.
The family requests that memorials be made to Family Hospice, 5301 Knickerbocker, San Angelo, TX 76904 or a favorite charity.

Sam B. Wood of Winters Dies at 77

Winters, July 11 (RNS) - Sam B. Wood, 77, retired farmer and landowner, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Winters Municipal Hospital, where he had been for the last five days.
He had been in ill health since being hurt in an accident at his home near here 19 months ago.
Since that time, Mr. Wood had been in and out of the hospital for treatment numerous times.
Funeral services have been planned for 5 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church here with the pastor, the Rev. L.L. Trott, officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery, directed by Spill Funeral Home.
S.B. Wood was born in Lavaca County, Feb. 21, 1873, and as a boy moved to Hays County with his parents.
While there, he was married to the former Amada Ella White, in January 1894.
The couple moved to Winters, in 1904, where Mr. Wood was engaged in various businesses and was active in civic affairs during a period of 30 years.
He took part in early residential developments in Winters, before moving to his farm, seven miles west of here, in 1933.
He had been actively engaged in farming until his accident.
Mr. and Mrs. Wood celebrated their golden wedding anniversary five years ago.
He formerly held membership with the Oddfellow Lodge here.
Surviving are the widow; one son, Sam P. Wood of near Winters; two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Briggs of Winters, and Mrs. Celeste Phelps of San Angelo; two brothers, J.W. and E.L. Word, both of Dripping Springs, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Hall of Halletsville, Mrs. Lynnie Gregory of Long Beach, Calif. and Mrs. Mantie Garrett of Hamlin.
The body will lie in state at the church before the services.
