Bounds
Patsy A. Bounds, 64, of Rockdale for the past 8 years, formerly of Milano, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale with Jack Eastland of Milano officiating.
Ms. Bounds, a homemaker, was born Aug. 21, 1942 in Houston to Warren Leeman Bounds and Edith Jewel Bankston.
She was a member of Sandy Creek Church of Christ.
Ms. Bounds was preceded in death by her father, Warren L. Bounds on July 8, 1969; her mother, Edith J. Bounds on Dec. 23, 1994.
Survivors include brother, Kenneth Bounds and wife Janice of Rockdale; niece Lauren Eastland and husband Jack of Milano; nephew, Lee Bounds and wife Tammi of Milano; a number of other relatives and friends.
Hubnik
CAMERON – Frank Joe Hubnik Sr., 94, of Cameron, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 in a Cameron hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Chris Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Cemetery.
Mr. Hubnik, a retired pot room worker for Alcoa, was born March 28, 1912 in the Edgeworth Community of Milam County to Paul and Rosalie (Sipula) Hubnik. He married Helen Zavrel on May 12, 1943 and she preceded him in death earlier this year. He was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and K.J.T. A son, Frankie Joe Hubnik, Jr., a great-grandson, Seth Christopher Joe Ferguson; seven brothers, Phillip, Paul, John, Cyril, Joe, August and Charlie; four sisters, Mary McAnulty, Albina Tepera, Celesta Mitchan and Rosie Brush Ejem; a son-in-law, Robert Glaser also preceded him in death.
Survivors include five daughters, Georgie Ann Hubnik Glaser of Henderson, Caroline Hubnik Gelner and husband Billy of Cameron, Rosalie Hubnik Kostroun and husband Thomas of Cameron, Mary Frances Hubnik Vansa and husband Louis of Cameron and Barbara Hubnik Vansa and husband Richard of Cameron; daughter-in-law, Marcella Hubnik of Cameron; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Hubnik, Mallie Hubnik, Mary Hubnik and Annie Mae Johec; sister, Genevieve Zavrel; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Thompson
CAMERON – Theresa A. Thompson, 96, of Cameron died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 in a Cameron hospital. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Burial followed in the Saints Cyril & Methodius Cemetery.
Ms. Thompson, a retired bookkeeper, was born Feb. 27, 1910 in the Marak Community of Milam County to Felix and Mary (Gurecky) Matula. She was a member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Church, K.J.Z.T. and the Saint Anne’s Altar Society. Two brothers, Jaro Matula, L.L. Matula and one sister Mary Matula preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, James (Jimmy) Thompson of Cameron and John David Thompson of Cameron; brother Felix Matula Jr. of Cameron; six grandchilren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Jedlicka
CAMERON – Pauline Jedlicka, 74, of Cameron died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 in a Cameron nursing facility. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Lafferty officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Jedlicka, a retired waitress, was born May 30, 1932 in Granada to William J. and Mary Frances (Brummett) Koenig. A daughter, Edna Pauline Gabriel, a sister, Lorraine Holman and brother William Koenig preceded her in death.
Survivors include son, Charles Jedlicka of Magnolia; two daughters, Linda Carlton of Pasadena and Mary Ann Gabriel of Hockley; sister, Emma Koenig of Minerva; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Akin
GIDDINGS – Louise Jahnke Akin, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at her residence in Giddings. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at First United Methodist Church in Giddings with Rev. David Davidson officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 26, 1919 in Brenham to August Jahnke and Fannie Pearl Worden. She married Grady Stueber on April 21, 1940 in Giddings and Lewis Dean (L.D.) Akin on July 7, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mrs. Akin owned and operated Lousie’s Beauty Shop in Giddings for many years.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Giddings where she was member of the United Methodist Women. She was also an active volunteer with Rejuvenation in Giddings.
Mrs. Akin was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Grady Stueber in 1972; second husband, Lewis Dean (L.D.) Akin in 1996; step-son, Harold Stueber in 2006; two sisters, Annie Mae Engelage and Barbara Muery.
Survivors include three sons, Grady and Kathy Stueber of Giddings, James Stueber of Giddings and Michael Stueber and Ann St. Wrba of Austin; daughter-in-law, Terry and Ernie Voight of Giddings; step-daughter-in-law, Judy Stueber of LaGrange; step-daughter, Barbara Siciotte of Ft. Worth; two step-sons, Clifton and Debe Akin of Tanglewood and Charlie and Sharion Akin of Bastrop; 15 grandchildren, Chris and Kim Stueber, Stephanie and Jon Walther, Cheryl and Gary Pietsch, Kevin and Penny Stueber, Audra and David Viesca, Michael William Stueber, Chad Stueber, Brittney and Josh Skidmore, Summer Raye and Brian Torchia, Dana Cox, Jackie and Danny Muzny, Janis and Chris Janca, Jill Stueber, Jeff and Cindy Stueber and Jennifer and Jim Sanders; 28 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Ernestine and Fred Kieke of Brenham; brother-in-law, Harper Muery of Gay Hill; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers included Kevin Stueber, Chris Stueber, Michael William Stueber, Chad Stueber, Gary Pietsch, Jon Walther, David Viesca and Jeff Stueber.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Giddings.
Jones
James Vance (Jim) Jones died Nov. 5, 2006 at his home in Rockdale. He was born Sept. 3, 1919 in Burnet County, the youngest son of Andrew Ernest Jones and Nora LcLean Jones, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his two sisers and two brothers.
He graduated from Lampasas schools and was drafted into the United States Army in 1940 and subsequently transferred to the United States Army Air Corp, where he became a B-26 pilot. He flew 52 missions in the European Theater during World War II between 1943-1945.
During his military service, he married Montez Rhodes of San Saba on Jan. 10, 1943.
After World War II he returned home to attend Sul Ross College in Alpine and in 1948 joined the company of Brown & Root to work on the construction of Fort Hood and then the dams that made the Texas Highland Lakes.
In 1952, he was hired by Alcoa, where is became the Electrical Maintenance Superintendent before retiring in October 1981.
He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church building committee, served as men’s Sunday school teacher and in many other capacities. He also served as a Scout Master, a member of the Rockdale City Council and was a current member of the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, LA.
He is survived by his wife Montez Rhodes Jones of Rockdale; three children, J.K. Jones and wife Tonia of Houston, Andrew E. Jones III of San Antonio and Kimberly Jones Pribble and her husband James of Austin; seven grandchildren, Andrew E. Jones IV, Jennifer Jones, Jonathan Ryan Jones, James Brandon Jones, Cyril Vance Jones, Edward McLean Jones and Anthony James Jones.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. John Warren of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating.

Wilhite
Elmo H. Wilhite, 79, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 at his residence in Tanglewood.
Mr. Wilhite was born Nov. 1, 1927 in Lee County to Lonnie D. Wilhite and Mamie Johnson. He married Ruth Ann Lindauer on June 4, 1954 in Pasadena.
He was a resident of Tanglewood for the past 25 years and lived all his life in Lee County with the exception of one year in Rockdale. He worked as production supervisor with Alcoa from 1952 until his retirement in 1985.
Mr. Wilhite was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church in Lexington for 45 years.
He was an United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was also member of the American Legion Post No. 6 of Lexington, member of The Gideons International.
Mr. Whilhite traveled with Texas Baptist Men for 18 years building churches around Texas and other states. He was also involved with mission work in Africa, Mexico and Brazil. He was involved in a jail ministry visiting the Youth Dention Center in Rockdale for the past 10 years. He loved gardening and taking care of his livestock.
Mr. Wilhite was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Wilhite of Tanglewood; two daughters, Virginia Ann Bostic and husband Dale of McDade and Deborah Kay Neidig and husband Terry of McDade; brother, L.D. “Rusty” Wilhite of Rockdale; two sisters, Bell Matlock of Rusk and Dorothy Crowder of West Olympia, WA; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
