Swanson
CAMERON – Raymond Harold Swanson Jr., 58, of Cameron died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 in a Temple hospital. Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cameron with Rev. Thomas officiating.
Mr. Swanson, a national merit scholar, was born Feb. 27, 1948 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Raymond and Anna Louise (Sleamaker). Survivors include brother, Randy Swanson of Houston; two sisters, Lynn Muscanere of Pearland and Karen McDermott of Cameron.
Hilbers
Donald Ray Hilbers, 54, of Temple and formerly of Rockdale, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mr. Hilbers, a truck driver, was born Sept. 21, 1952 in Wichita Falls to Linwood Hilbers and Anna Pierce Hilbers.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Dorothy Baker of Temple; three sons, Cody Hilbers of Rockdale, Bradley Hilbers of Rockdale and Joseph Hilbers of Arkansas; brother, Billy Hilbers of Golden; sister, Judy Harris and husband Larry of Cisco; numerous grandchildren.
Leath
CALVERT – G.L. “Bo” Leath, 59, of Calvert died Tuesday, Nov. 7, at his home. An informal memorial service and gathering of friends and family was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Virginia Field Park in Calvert.
Mr. Leath was born Sept. 19, 1947 in Hearne.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kathy Leath of Calvert, his mother, Susie Leath of Calvert; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Judy and B.R. Elliott of Franklin and Linda and Will McBeth of Midlothian; two grandchildren, Kason and Haven Leath of Calvert.
O’Bier
Reubin O’Bier, 84, of Lexington most of his life, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 in the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 in Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial followed in the Forest Grove Cemetery near Rockdale.
Mr. O’Bier, a farmer, was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Milam County to George and Hattie (Green) O’Bier.
He was a kind and generous man, enjoyed telling stories and had a great sence of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Annie Bell Moreland, Iris Strother and Margie Williams; four brothers, Vernon O’Bier, Hubert O’Bier, Mack O’Bier and Lloyd H. O’Bier.
Survivors include half brother, Johnny O’Bier of Lexington; sister, Nora Hewer of Houston; host of nieces and nephews.
Frausto
CAMERON – Paz Martinez Frausto, 80, of Cameron died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana with Pastor Moses Vaca officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Frausto, was born March 15, 1926 in Gonzales County to Juan and Ignacia (Perez) Martinez. She married Bacilio Frausto. She was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana. A son John Bacilio Frausto and four brothers, Joe Vargas, John Vargas, Martin Vargas and Felipe Martinez preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Bacilio Frausto of Cameron; five sons, Roberto Frausto of Austin, Benjamin Frausto of Cameron, Ignacio Frausto of Cameron, Joe Frausto of Cameron and Sisto (Chuck) Frausto of Cameron; two daughters, Maria Garcia of Cameron and Victoria Magadan of Cameron; brother, Vicente Vargas of Houston; two sisters, Victoria Luera of Houston and Esperanza Martinez of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Brown
CAMERON – Funeral services for Irene “Jody” Brown, 72, of Cameron were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial was in Kurten Cemetery in Kurten.
Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Nov. 9, in a Cameron nursing home.
She was born in Kurten on Feb. 20, 1934, to Louis Terrell and Elizabeth (Kindt) Murphy.
She married Milton E. Brown on March 20, 1986.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Scasta, and a brother, Louis Murphy Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Milton Brown of Cameron; two sons, James L. Conrad and wife Patsy of Kurten and George A. Conrad and wife Brenda Stermer of Lott; a brother, Robert Murphy of Edge; also, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Owens
CALVERT – Services for C.N. (Charlie) Owens, 86, of Calvert will be Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, in Calvert.
Mr. Owens died Nov. 14.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie.
Survivors are three sons, Rex Owens, Mike Owens and Dustan Owens; three brothers, Denzal Owens, Alfred Owens and Pud Owens of Rockdale; a sister, Kirby Wright; also, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
