Crouch
CAMERON – Wesley Crouch, 86, of Cameron died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in a Cameron nursing facility. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Springer and Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Crouch was born Feb. 3, 1921 in Gause to Lonnie and Leona (Taylor) Crouch. He married Lois Noey on Dec. 6, 1940.
He attended Gause and Cameron schools. He worked for Melvin Ford Dairy, drove a truck for Fairmont and also worked for Matula Grocery in Cameron. He then went to work for Lone Star Gas and retired from there after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Rockdale Full Gospel Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Crouch on May 24, 2007; three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include three sons, W.C. Crouch of Cameron, Alton Crouch of Pearland and Dennis Crouch of Lago Vista; brother, Floyd Crouch of Hearne; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Richter
CAMERON – Funeral services for Lillian Veronica “Lillie” Richter, 94, of Cameron were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2007, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Chris Coleman officiating. Burial followed in St. Monica’s Cemetery.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Richter died Friday, June 1, in a Cameron nursing facility.
A lifelong beauty operator, she was born Nov. 13, 1912, in Buckholts to William J. and Pauline (Blosch) Anderle.
She married William “Bill” Richter and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1984.
Mrs. Richter was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and a charter member of St. Monica’s Ladies Society.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Anderle and Anton Anderle.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen Richter of Cameron and Theresa Baca of Little River-Academy; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mayer
CAMERON – Funeral services for Denise Marie Mayer, 39, of Cameron were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial followed in Marlow Cemetery.
Mrs. Mayer died Wednesday, May 30, in a Temple hospital.
She was born March 10, 1968, in Cameron to Willie and Anna (Pontruff) Templin.
She married Tony Mayer in 1990.
Mrs. Mayer was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Mayer of Cameron; six daughters, Courtney Mayer, Megan Mayer, Miranda Mayer, Ashley Mayer, Valerie Mayer and Madison Mayer, all of Cameron; her parents, Willie and Anna Templin of Cameron; two brothers, Lee Templin and William Templin, both of Cameron; and a sister, Cathy Pratt of Cameron.
Simmons
CAMERON – Services for Lanetta Simmons, 75, of Cameron were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Jackson Mortuary Chapel in Cameron with Rev. Ernest Taylor Sr. officiating. Burial was in Cameron Rest Cemetery.
Ms. Simmons died Friday, May 25, in a Cameron nursing facility.
A housekeeper, she was born April 25, 1932, in Wetumka, Oklahoma.
Survivors are a sister, Dorthy Houcks of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Albert Hughes of Sherman; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Shirley Madden, and a special nephew, Albert Hughes Jr.; dear friends John and Lella Henderson of Cameron, Eloise, B.J., Al and Meri Bouzari, Elizabeth, Kenneth, Kelsey and John David Leeper, who were considered as part of her family; also, other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Albert Hughes Jr., Lloyd Hughes, John B. Henderson Jr., Aaron Miller, Kenneth Leeper, Elbert Tindle and Cedric Waller.
Shafer
HEMPHILL – Services for Ruby Lee Shafer, 82, of Hemphill were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Oakhill Baptist Church with Bro. Brett Jay officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Henderson.
Mrs. Shafer died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
A Hemphill resident since 1991, she was formerly of Texas City and was born in Mexia on Feb. 26, 1925, to Felix Collard and Fannie Bell Gray.
Mrs. Shafer was a clerk for GTE and was a member of Oak-hill Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband of 52 years, Ernest Shafer of Hemphill; two sons, Sonny Davis and wife Linda of Hemphill, Ronnie Davis of San Augustine; two daughters, Joyce Turner of Pineland, Donna Woods and husband Tim of Cameron; and three brothers, Jack Collard of Houston, Felix Collard of Houston, Jimmy Collard of Angleton; also, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Paskvan
Funeral services for SPC. Christopher Joseph Paskvan, 24, of Rockdale, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville. SPC Paskvan passed away in College Station on Wednesday, May 23.
SPC. Paskvan was born on Dec. 17, 1982 in Monahans to Donald Paskvan and Debbie Hampton. He was a 2001 graduate of McNeil High School where he played football. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served three years with the 82nd Airborne Division.
When he left the Army he joined the Texas Army National Guard where he served with the 4-112th Armor, 72nd Brigade, 36th Infantry Division including a recent deployment to Bosnia. He had recently begun studies in computer engineering at Blinn College in Bryan. He had a lifetime ambition to serve his country, realized his dream and is a true American Hero.
He enjoyed flying planes, having learned at age 16, and bought his own car before he was old enough to drive it. He also enjoyed snorkeling, boogie boarding and fishing.
Chris is survived by his mother and step-father Debbie and John Hautzenroeder; father, Donald Joseph Paskvan; brothers, SGT Robert Lewis Hampton, Scott Ceynowa, Steven Michael Paskvan, Michael Cadwell, Alexander Hautzenroeder, Joseph Hautzenroeder and Aaron Racine; sisters, Brenna Hautzenroeder, Tammy Racine, Carrie Racine and Nikki Racine; grandparents, Evelyn Paskvan and David and Ada Hautzenroeder; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Baggerly
Emilia Rose Baggerly, infant, died Friday, July 13, 2007 in the North Austin Medical Center. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale with Pastor Max Rosas of Assembly of God officiating.
Miss Baggerly was born July 11, 2007 at North Austin Medical Center to Amador Baggerly and Audrey Skiles.
Survivors include her parents, Amador Baggerly and Audrey Skiles of Rockdale; grandparents, Roy Allen and Sylvia Baggerly of Rockdale and Marty G. and Angie Skiles of San Marcos; great-grandparents, Alejandra Zamora of Rockdale and Polo and Teresa Melendez of Kyle; great-great-grandmother, Jessie Allen of Rockdale; three uncles, Marty Gale Skiles III of San Marcos, David Baggerly of Bryan and Bobby Baggerly of Rockdale; five aunts, Amy Lea Skiles of San Marcos, April McRae and Billy of Rockdale, Monica Guerra of Dallas, Jackie Lacey and Nathan of Rockdale and Jessie Baggerly of Rockdale.
