Brooks
THORNDALE – Services for Kevin Dean Brooks, 45, of Thorndale, were held Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Thorndale with Rev. Larry Griffith officiating. Burial followed in Comanche City Cemetery in Comanche, OK, on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Mr. Brooks died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown.
He was born Oct. 5, 1962 in Ceres, CA to Phillip N. Brooks and Verda J. Gore.
He was a webmaster for ArmyCorps of Engineers for 23 years. He retired in 2003 and is formerly of Lorton, VA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Brooks.
Survivors include: son, Kevin Brooks II of Thorndale; his parents, Phillip and Verda Brooks of Thorndale; brother, Michael Brooks of Georgetown; and grandmother, Murrel Brooks of Thorndale.

Korsmo
CAMERON – Services for Sherri Korsmo, 47, of Cameron were held Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Her body was then shipped to Missouri for additional services and burial.
She died Monday, Feb. 11 near Giddings as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Ms. Korsmo was born July 19, 1960 in Colorado Springs, CO, to William B. and Belva (Howard) Pennington.
She was employed as a dragline operator for Luminant Mining’s Three Oaks Lignite Mine in Lee County.
Ms. Korsmo was a member of First Baptist Church in Cameron.
Survivors include son, Rafn Hauk Korsmo of Cameron; parents, William and Belva Pennington of Taneyville, MO; brother, Wesley Pennington of Taneyville, MO; and sister, LaDonna Stuart of Taneyville, MO.
Prokisch
CAMERON – Funeral services for Archie E. Prokisch, 86, of Cameron were held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. James Wheeless officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Prokisch died Wednesday, Feb. 13, in a Temple hospital.
He was born in the Sharp community on June 20, 1921, to Max and Sophia (Denker) Prokisch.
He married Lucille Dorner on May 12, 1945, in Vogelsang Community Church near Ben Arnold.
Mr. Prokisch attended Modern Barber College in Houston and was a barber in Cameron for over 45 years. After his retirement, he began cutting hair at the V.A. Hospital in Temple.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cameron where he served as elder for more than 40 years.
Mr. Prokisch was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Edwin Hardy Post No. 9 American Legion and the VFW Post No. 2010.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Prokisch of Cameron; two sons, Ronnie Prokisch and wife Vickie of Houston, Dean Prokisch and wife Janie of West Columbia; and a grandson, Eric Prokisch of Angleton.
Robinson
Services for Vera Hazel Robinson, 89, of Houston will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Robinson died, Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Houston.
She was born Nov. 13, 1918 in Hamilton Chapel near Rockdale to Jerome John Dreher and Myrtle Lula (Rozell) Dreher.
She married Thomas Paul Robinson, June 27, 1946 at the courthouse in Cameron.
Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker and during World War II worked for Hughes Tools in Houston as a welder.
She was a member of Norhill Baptist Church in Houston.
Mrs. Robinson loved to paint, make ceramics and crochet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William H. (Jack) Dreher; and sister, Estelle Muston.
Survivors include, husband, Thomas Paul Robinson of Houston; three daughters, Delta Leona Wright and husband, James of Houston, Judy Helen Valladares of Universal City, Jan Nanette Howard of Greenville, SC; four sisters, Geraldine J. Hosek of Rockdale, Johnnie Sue Roberts of Rockdale, Marilyn Orsak of Rockdale and Peggy Louise Hosek of Rockdale; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wade Wright, Kerry Wright, Lance Denny, David Orsak, Kevin Roberts and Steven Roberts.
Rubio
A memorial gathering for the family and friends of Edwardo Lee “Duke” Rubio, 27, of Rockdale will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Rockdale KC Hall.
Mr. Rubio died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at his home in Rockdale.
A longtime Rockdale resident, he was born July 16, 1980, in Chicago, IL, to Leonardo Rubio Sr. and Debra A. (Campisi) Rubio.
Mr. Rubio was a Rockdale High School graduate and attended the MARC Center. He enjoyed traveling with them to go bowling and go to the movies.
He enjoyed playing, working on computers and volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Rockdale.
Mr. Rubio loved his bicycle and his friends. He was very loved and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ignacio Rubio Sr. and Guadalupe Salinas Rubio, and his maternal grandfather, Salvator Paul Campisi.
Survivors are his father, Leonardo Rubio Sr. of Rockdale; his mother, Debra Campisi Rubio of Rockdale; his grandmother, Anita A. Apaney Campisi of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Leonardo C. Rubio Jr. of Austin and Kevin L. Rubio of Rockdale; two sisters, Rosalinda Rubio Lovato of Rockdale and Celia M. Rubio of Georgetown; his nieces and nephews, Sonia Lovato, Sarah Lovato, Robert Lovato Jr., Jesus Caldera, Javier Leo Caldera and Cesar Caldera, all of Dallas, and Stormy Rubio of Georgetown; also, several aunts, uncles and cousins in Rockdale and the surrounding areas.

Sisk
Funeral services for Darlene Powell Sisk, 47, of Rockdale were held Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Carl Hudson of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating. Burial was Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Bower Cemetery near Eufaula, OK.
Mrs. Sisk died Monday, Feb. 11, in Lee County.
She was born April 2, 1960 in Deming, NM to Lloyd and Beulah (Grider) Powell.
A Rockdale resident for the past 20 years she was a heavy equipment operator for TXU Luminant for 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Powell, and grandparents, Elisa and Clarence Gridner.
Survivors are two sons, Christopher Lee Funburg of Rockdale and Steven Shane Sisk of Bryan; mother, Beulah Powell of Eufaula, OK; three grandchildren, Kathen Michael Funburg, Kameron Lloyd Funburg and Emily Nicole Lorenz; and two sisters, Jackie Contreras of Mexia and Karen Thomas of Eufaula, OK.
Pallbearers were co-workers at the Three Oaks Mine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rockdale Relay for Life.
Wall
CAMERON – Funeral services for Alma Juanita Wall, 99, of Cameron, and formerly of Buckholts, were held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Kirk officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Wall, a retired homemaker, was born Nov. 21, 1908 in Llano County to Seth and Sarah (Marinda) Smith.
She was married for over 65 years to Raymond Wall.
Mrs. Wall was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buckholts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wall in 2000, two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Tate of Cameron and Judy Jackson of Buckholts; a sister, Dena Myers of Llano; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
