Service for Homer (Jack) Nikirk Jr., 78, of Alvord was Tuesday.
He died May 27, 2000, in Decatur.
Born July 8, 1921, in Alvord, he served as a Wise County Commissioner in Precinct 2 for 10 years. He also served as president of the Alvord School Board and was a member of the Alvord City Council.
A retired grocery store owner, he was a member of the Alvord Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalene; three daughters, Rosemary Watson and husband Lawrence, Joy Waller and husband John and Jackie Nikirk; six grandchildren, Diane Tilley and husband Al, Dana Hale, Brent, Jason, Kirk and wife Jennifer Waller and Leigh Ann Mutis and husband Cesar; 12 great grandchildren, Danielle, Deedra and Dylan Hale, Mitchell, Sunnie and Colton Tilley, Ansley Waller, Christopher, Nathan, Jacqueline and Brendan Waller and Cameron Mutis; one sister, Fay (Sis) Whitaker and husband James; one brother-in-law, W.D. Rawle.
He was preceded in death by four sisters; Cecil Watts, Clarabel Parker, Oma Jewel Rawle and Florene Hachtel.
Pallbearers were nephews Jerry Rawle, Charles Parker, Donnie Parker, Randy Parker, Danny Whitaker, Lynn Watts, Larry Hachtel, Kenny Hachtel and a friend, Mike Watts.

Harry Austin Johnson

Service for Harry Austin Johnson, 68, of Fort Worth, was Tuesday, May 30, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church with Fred Villa officiating. Burial followed at Thomas Cemetery in Wise County.
Johnson died May 25, at his residence in Fort Worth.
Born Jan. 2, 1932 in Oklahoma City, he married Dorothy Powell Johnson on April 19, 1993. He was a longtime Bridgeport resident who moved to Fort Worth 15 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was an air conditioning technician. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church of Fort Worth and an active member of the Senior Citizens of Haltom City.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Johnson of Fort Worth; three sons, Benny Johnson of Bridgeport, Don Johnson of Springtown and Robert Johnson of Paradise; four daughters, Linda Shocklear-Terry of Springtown, Debbie Dorman of Fort Worth, Carol Womack of Fort Worth and Susan Ramey of Paradise; and 23 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steven Sosa, Darren Sosa, Warren Sosa, Bruce Brassfield, Bobby Starnes and Tracy Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Burt, Scotty Jobe and Charles Jobe.
Mellie Lavenia Webb

Service was Tuesday for Mellie Lavenia Webb, 92, of Decatur.
She died May 28, 2000, in Decatur.
She was born Aug. 7, 1907 in Truby. She married the late D.M. Webb Sept. 2, 1929, in Lawton, Okla. She was a retired caregiver at Decatur Convalescent Center.
Survivors include one brother, Lester Thomas of Walters, Okla.; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ron Hess, Carl Low, Ron Choate, Pat Collins, Ron Corbell and Coy O’Neal.
Bonnie Etoy Oates

Service for Bonnie Etoy Oates, 84, of Rhome will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Rhome Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Aurora Cemetery. Roy Deaver will officiate.
Oates died May 26, 2000, in Decatur.
Born Feb. 4, 1916, in Reno, Oates was a homemaker and a member of the Rhome Church of Christ. She married the late Brawley Oates on April 6, 1935, in Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sarah Lenorah and Beverly Ann Oates.
Survivors include a son, Bill Oates of Aurora; a daughter, Winojean Mayfield of Paradise; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jackie, Kevin and Jack Stone; Sillie Jr. and Timothy Oates; Craig and Bennett Rasbury and Logan Meeks.
Mary Margaret Schroeder Olson

Service was to be Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Fort Worth for Mary Margaret Schroeder Olson, 60, of Boyd. Burial was to follow at Cleburne Memorial Park in Cleburne.
She died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Wise County.
She was born June 27, 1939, in Fort Worth. She lived in Arlington from 1976 to 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard B. Olson of Boyd; three sons, Leonard Michael Olson of Arlington, John Bishop Olson of Fort Worth and Joseph Lee Olson of Fort Bragg, N.C.; two daughters, Katherine Marie Olson of Sanger and Margaret Mary Nelsen of Fort Worth; one brother, Otto Schroeder, Jr. of Arlington; one sister, Catherine Grace of Arlington; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial mass at Saint John Catholic Church in Bridgeport will be held at a later date.

Service for Lorene J. Richey, 72, of Comanche, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Rainey will officiate. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Richey died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Midland.
Born June 24, 1927, in Atoka, Okla., to Homer and Sarah Williams, she was a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a member of Gartman View Baptist Church. She married A.E. “Curley” Rogers in 1951. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1978. She married Glen Richey on May 22, 1983.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Richey of Comanche; a son, Wayne and wife Lynn Long of Decatur; daughters Geneva and husband Paul Ridgeway of Midland, Lou and husband Roger Hitt of Decatur, Sue and husband Clifford Mercer of Ennis; step-daughters Pat and husband Lonnie Black of Fort Worth, Glenda and husband Joe Hicks of Alvarado, Lucy and husband James Martin of Cresson; step-son James and wife Debbie Richey of Granbury; two sisters ,Cleo Craig and Imogene Craig of Rogers, Ark.; two brothers, Floyd Williams of Eastland and Lloyd Williams of Comanche; grandsons, Wayland Long, Clint Mercer, Cameron Mercer and Brett Ridgeway; granddaughters, Lisa Luttrull, Shelly Saaser and Laci Ridgeway; five great-grandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, three brothers and one grandson.

Graveside service for Opal Terrell, 85, of Carrollton, will be Sunday, May 28, at 1 p.m. at the Curry family cemetery near Greenwood. Dr. Van Gardner will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
Terrell died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Carrollton.
Born Nov. 29, 1914, in Big Spring, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Tommie and wife Margie Terrell of Carrollton and John and wife Caroline Terrell of San Angelo; two daughters, Ann and husband Dan Wilder of Palmer and Dee Curry of Greenwood; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Herman Morris Wise

Service for Herman Morris Wise, 81, of Arlington, formerly of Boyd will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Arlington Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.
Wise died May 26, 2000, in Fort Worth.
He was born March 24, 1919, and graduated from Boyd High School in 1936. He served in World War II in the 636th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was honored with a Bronze Star upon his discharge.
A retired floor covering worker, he was a member of Arlington Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Avis Brice of Fort Worth; one brother, Mac Wise of Seguin; three sisters, Frankie Ketchum and her husband Frank of Seguin; Jo Reininger of San Antonio and Edith Benson of Boise, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the building fund of Arlington Presbyterian Church.

Born March 1, 1909, in Bowie, she married James Ray Gamble on Aug. 7, 1927, in Alvord. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Decatur. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Glen Gamble of Marjon, Billy Gamble of Bridgeport and Danny Gamble of Fort Worth; three daughters, Nell North of Fort Worth, Nancy Osborne of Marion and Helen Thorpe of Eugene; two sisters, Bonnie McCrary of Decatur and Mary Adair of Duncanville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Born June 15, 1976, in Artesia, N.M., he worked in the shipping department for Air Plus Limited.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Louie and Mary Raines of Whitesboro; his mother, Susan Raines of Euless; two sisters, Candace Michell Raines of Euless and Kelly Snyder of Whitesboro; his grandparents, Berl and Helen Crockett of Bridgeport and L.A. Raines of Springtown and his great grandmother, Grace Moore of Colorado City.
David Lee Hayes

Born March 9, 1956, in Houston, he married Maurina Kay Hohle on Sept. 25, 1982, in Houston. He was the regional sales manager for Rualand-Borq Corporation. He was a Methodist and a member of the National Sportsmans Club.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years Maurina Hayes of Runaway Bay; his parents, Loise Hayes and Dorr Lee Hayes, both of Houston; one son, David Landon Hayes of Runaway Bay; one daughter, Rebecca Kay Hayes of Runaway Bay; one brother, Larry Hayes of Houston; one sister, Brenda Hayes of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandmother Jewel Hayes of Houston; niece Mikayla Hohle and three nephews, Samuel, Matthew and Morgan Hohle.
