Movelda Holt Maddox

Graveside service for Movelda Holt Maddox, 78, of Decatur was to be Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Gene Chamness was to officiate.
Maddox died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, in Decatur.
Born July 29, 1924, in Decatur to Clyde and Ethel Holt, she married Ed Maddox, D.V.M., on Aug. 3, 1952, in Decatur. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. After retirement from the Texas Highway Department, she assisted her husband with his veterinary practice.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, Edward P. Maddox and a brother, Clyde Holt Jr.
She is survived by her husband; a son, John E. Vanetten and wife June of College Station; a daughter-in-law, Anita Maddox of Temple; a step-daughter, Celia Ann Parsons and husband Vernon of Temple; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Barney H. Holgate

Graveside service for Barney H. Holgate, 89, of Bridgeport was Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield.
Holgate died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Decatur.
Born Feb. 16, 1913, in Gomez, he was retired from the Civil Service. He married Salomae Steen on March 25, 1939, in Lubbock and was a member of First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Forrest S. Holgate of Grand Junction, Colo. and Stanley H. Holgate of Fayetteville, N.C.; one daughter, Elizabeth Young of Decatur; one sister, Kathrin Hamilton of Brownfield; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Judy Jean Yarbrough
1944-2003
Service for Judy Jean Yarbrough, 58, of Boyd was to be Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at Aurora Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy Withers was to officiate. Burial was to follow at Aurora Cemetery.
Yarbrough died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, in Decatur.
Born Dec. 29, 1944, in Iraan, she was chief clerk for the Prec. 1 justice of the peace office. She married Woodrow Wilson Yarbrough June 1, 1973, in Fort Worth. She was a member of the Aurora Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Kristy Totty of Oklahoma City; one brother, Dean Garland of Evant and a grandson, Reese Logan Totty.
Pallbearers were to be Steve Petty, Coy Grimes, B.J. Adams, Loyd Ellingwood, Joe Pena and Jimmy Valesquez. Honorary pallbearers were to be Ryan Totty, J.D. Garland and Huskey Morrow.
John Richard Males

A private family service will be held for John Richard Males, 73, of Decatur. Males died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Decatur.
Born Nov. 28, 1929, in Soper, Okla., he was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Males.
He is survived by four sons, Michael L. Males and wife Marsha of Loveland, Colo., Richard L. Males and wife Sheri of Oklahoma City, Okla., Randy D. Males and wife Gayla of Jacksonville, Ark. and Steven D. Males and wife Debbie of Decatur; three sisters, Mildred, Lucille and Evelyn; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Shirley J. Buie

Service for Shirley J. Buie, 67, of Alvord will be Monday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Alvord. Bill Cleveland will officiate. Burial will follow at Alvord Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 30, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
Buie died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Decatur.
Born March 23, 1936, in Clovis, N.M., she was a homemaker. She married Hal G. Buie on Sept. 7, 1952, in El Paso. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord.
She is survived by her husband; four sons, Donald E. Buie of Twin Falls, Idaho, Hal W. Buie of Everman, Joel D. Buie of Crowley and John L. Buie of Joshua; one daughter, Linda Jeanette Roberts of Grand Prairie; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Sims, Chet Haney, Melton Neighbors, Bart Lunsford, Fred Parker and Robert Bull Sr.
L.N. Barnard

Graveside service for L. N. Barnard, 78, of Boyd was to be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 26 at New Hope Cemetery with Cecil Westervelt officiating.
Born October 30, 1924, in Fort Worth, the son of John Claude and Dewey (Phillips) Barnard, he died March 23, 2003, in Azle.
Barnard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, married Jean Pickett January 17, 1942, in Weatherford and retired from Bell Helicopter after 32 years. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Barnard of Boyd; son, Sonny Barnard and wife Kelly of Saginaw; four daughters, Ann Mawhirter and husband Mike of Derby, Kan., Linda Wren and husband Bob of Grapevine, Patricia Barnard of Boyd and Sandra Johnson and husband John Short of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters Helen Westervelt and Juanita McMillen.
Gary Michael Rhine

Graveside service for Gary Michael Rhine, 53, of Fort Worth was Tuesday, March 25, at West Bridgeport Cemetery. The Rev. Joey Vick officiated.
Rhine died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Fort Worth.
Born July 30, 1949, in Decatur, he was a retired employee of Mitchell Energy Corporation and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Rhine in August, 1979.
He is survived by his mother, Sue Rhine; a sister, Janice Vauek and husband Danny; two nieces, two great-nephews, and one great-niece.
Pallbearers were Danny Vanck, Clinton James Arnold, J.R. Pippins, Anthony Torres, John Paul Beeson, Willie Torres, Joshua Pippens and John Torres.
Mary A. Brooks

Service for Mary A. Brooks, 62, of Chico was Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Crafton Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Wood and Rev. Joe Motsenbocker officiated. Burial followed at Chico Cemetery.
Brooks died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Chico.
Born March 19, 1941, in Mineral Wells to John Dee and Mary (Woodall) Gober, Brooks married Everett “Snuffy” Brooks on Sept. 21, 1972, in Chico and was a member of the Crafton Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Grace and Marie.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Wesley Rice and wife Suzanne, Blane Rice and Jeff Brooks; daughter Vella Thacker and husband David; four brothers, Joe, James, W.D. and John Gober; three sisters, Louise Wilkerson, Ruth Simmons and Bessie Wright; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Oscar Parrish, J.D. Coffman, Doug Bowyer, Bob Brown, Ed Leavenworth, Jerry Selph, Benny Coulson and Paul Lopez.
Micah Shane Jones

Service for Micah Shane Jones, 22, formerly of Decatur, who was on active duty with the Marines, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at the Coker Funeral Home chapel.
Visitation was to be Wednesday, March 26, 7 to 8 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home Chapel. Friends will give the eulogy. Burial to follow at Bald Knob Cemetery in Wise County.
Born July 4, 1980, in Bridgeport, he died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in San Angelo.
He is survived by his parents; Bob and Pam Fisk of Mason and David Ray Jones of Arlington; sisters, Misty Pauline Sparks of Big Sandy and Lindsay and Ashley Fisk of Mason; and grandmother, Lela Fisk of Gladewater.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Kenneth and Vera Jones and Earl and Polly Wilson.
James Randy ‘Ason’ Girard

Memorial service for James Randy “Ason” Girard, 32, of Bowie was Monday, March 24, at Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie. Danny Laws officiated.
Girard died March 20, 2003, in New Boston, and was the stepson of Carl Finney who formerly worked at Karl Klement Chrysler in Decatur.
Born Jan. 5, 1971, in Hileah, Fla., Girard was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the American Poets Society. He was an author and inventor, artist, musician and gourmet cook. He married Jaqueline Nicole Bonneau Feb. 28, 2003, in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adolfo Arellano, Celia Arellano, Stella Girard and Rene J. Girard.
He is survived by his father Jim Girard and wife Beverly of Hillsboro; mother Sally Finney and husband Carl of Bowie; two brothers, Darryl Dwayne Girard of Trophy Club and Rene Evan Girard of Bowie; step-grandparents, P.N. and Pearline Finney; and numerous step-brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins.
