Ruzicka
MILANO – Funeral services for Dennis Preston Ruzicka, 57, of Milano were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Glynn A. Cummings and Gene Van Noord officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Ruzicka died Tuesday, Oct. 9, at his residence.
Born July 25, 1944, in Milam County, he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and had worked in road construction.
Mr. Ruzicka was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are his wife, Glenna Ruzicka of Milano; three sons, Dennis Preston Ruzicka Jr. of Milano, Kevin Alan Ruzicka of Rockdale and Jason Don Ruzicka of Milano; three sisters, Betty Lavender of Iola, Frances Basonic and Doris Van Noord, both of Cameron; a step-brother, Richard Ruzicka of Cameron; a step-sister, Johnnye Ruth Harris of Waco; also three grandchildren.
Loftin
CAMERON – Graveside services for Wiley J. ‘Jake’ Loftin, 72, of Cameron were held at Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts with Rev. Mike Lewis officiating.
Mr. Loftin died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in a Temple hospital.
A retired oil field worker, he was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Buckholts to Aril James and Lillie Am Nelson Loftin.
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors are a brother, Floyd Loftin of Odessa; and three sisters, Johnny Whittier of Del Rio, Patsy Milky of Odessa and Linda Butler of Cameron.

White
CAMERON – Funeral services for Harry Phillip White, 84, of the Jones Prairie community, near Cameron, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Little River Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Hudson officiating. Burial followed in the Little River Cemetery.
Mr. White died Saturday, Oct. 6, in a Temple hospital following an illness.
A retired farmer and rancher, he was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Milam County.
Mr. White was a member of Little River Baptist Church.
Survivors were his wife, Lanelle White of Jones Prairie; a son, Craig White of Sugar Land; two daughters, Delaine Burgess of Rockdale and Charlotte Pomykal of Rosebud; two brothers, John White of Marlin and Robert White of Jones Prairie; three sisters, Louise Gibson of Johnson City, Eula Mae White and Nadine Westerman, both of Rosebud; also, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Little River Fellowship Hall.
Wade
Funeral services for Tommy Wade, 48, were held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Roger Osborn officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Wade, a resident of Channelview for the past 17 years, was born Sept. 26, 1953 in Lexington to Jesse James and Hazel Nutt Wade. He and Linda Turman were married Dec. 12, 1972 in Lexington.
Mr. Wade was a truck driver for Liberty Waste in Baytown. Preceding his in death were his parents and one brother, James Wade.
Surviving are: His wife, Linda Wade of Channelview; sons Timothy Wade and Wayne Wade, both of Lexington; daughters, Tammy Elders and Billie Jo Smith, both of Channelview; brothers, Isaac E. Wade of Serbin and David R. Wade and Lonnie W. Wade, both of Lexington; sisters, Betty Beck of Giddings, Jessie Kelley and Linda Williams, both of Lexington, Flora Becvar of Dime Box and Mary Stevick of Giddings; six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Timothy Wade, Wayne Wade, Nathan Morgan, James Morgan, Melvin Turman Jr., J.R. Wade.
Preece
Graveside services for Kathryn Preece, 77, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2001 at the Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood with Dr. Greg Nichols of Lexington Christian officiating. She died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Preece, a longtime resident of Tanglewood, was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Gause to Jackson Lee Reese and Seletta Viola McMurray Reese. She and Virgil L. Preece were married Feb. 14, 1954 in Austin.
Mrs. Preece was a member of the Lexington Christian Church. She was a homemaker. Preceding her in death was her husband Dec. 13, 1999.
Surviving are caregivers, Maria and Santos Gonzales of Rockdale and several nieces and nephews.
Newman
Frank "Pa" Newman Jr., 79, of Thorndale died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
Celebration of Life services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Pastor Vernon Appel and Pastor Robert Beicke officiating. Burial followed at Detmold Cemetery.
Mr. Newman was born July 23, 1922 in Taylor to Frank and Lena (Voight) Newman. On May 7, 1940, her married Pearl Melde at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Newman retired as a potroom foreman for Alcoa, after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale and a life member of the Thorndale VFW Post #4009. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rita Jane Becker; a son-in-law, Leon Barron and two sisters, Nannie Simank and Edna Hilton.
Surviving are: His wife of 61 years, Pearl of Thonrdale; daughter, Judy Brown of Thorndale; sisters, Margie Olbrich and Frances Hilton of Thorndale and Nora Pasemann of Thrall; grandchildren, Jeff Barron and wife, Cheryl of Taylor, Marla Roepke and Chris Davis of Thorndale, Randa Becker of Belgium and Russell Becker of Austin; great grandchildren, Kassie and Mallory Barron of Pasadena, Jacob Barron of Taylor and Hiatt Becker of Austin.
Pallbearers were James Lee Hilton, Frankie Hilton, Charles Olbrich, Harvey Simank, Bob Hegar and Max Thiele.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Thorndale VFW Post #4009.

Jennings
BENBROOK – Cathy Marque Jennings, 36, a nurse’s aide for a nursing home, died Tuesday, Oct. 9 in Fort Worth. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Baumgardner Chapel in Fort Worth with Mr. Todd Asaad officiating.
She was born Jan. 19, 1965 in Fort Worth to Kenneth and Judith Stewart Jennings. She was a member of the DFW International Church of Christ.
Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Judy Jennings of Benbrook; a brother, Chris Jennings of Hutchinson, Kansas; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stewart of Rockdale and Mrs. Pauline Sharp of Benbrook.
