Lillian Turrentine, 85

Lillian Lavina Turrentine of Odessa died Monday at Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa. Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pickton Cemetery in Pickton.
Turrentine was born July 20, 1916, in Greenville. She was a Baptist.
Surviving are daughters, Glenice Turner of Benton, La., Zonaruth Covington of Gainesville and Neta Tiner of Odessa; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson I. Turrentine; daughter, Beverly Turrentine; and son, Wayne Turrentine.
Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa is in charge of arrangements.
Cecilia Bene'

Cecilia Ann Bene', 70, died Thursday in Greenville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Commerce with Father Corcoran officiating. Burial is in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell. A Rosary is at 6 p.m. today at Pemberton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bene' was born July 6, 1931, in Dallas; the daughter of Frank and Pauline Culver Hereford. She was married to Troy E. Bene' on Aug. 12, 1957, in Dallas.
Mrs. Bene' had lived in Campbell for two years; having moved from Dallas. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 10 years.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and past member of St. Phillips Catholic Church in Dallas.
Surviving are her husband of Campbell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Joe Barsoum of Mesquite and Pam and Gerald Roberts of Rockwall; five sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Sherae Bene' of Allen, Scott and Pam Bene'of Mesquite, and Chris Bene', of Campbell, Keith and Janeese Bene' of Allen and Kevin and Magda Bene' of Mesquite; sisters, Sister Teresa Hereford of Fredricksburg, Mary Ruth Schmidt of Durant, Okla. and Karen Koller of Combine; brothers, Frank Hereford Jr. of Arlington, John Hereford of Cheyenne, Wyo., Bill Hereford of Bedford; Richard Hereford of Rochester, N.Y. and Anthony Hereford of Longview; and 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Gerald Roberts, Jordan Roberts, Brad Way, Alan Bene', Scott Bene', Chris Bene', Keith Bene' and Kevin Bene'.
Wayne Maples

Joseph Wayne Maples, 84, died Thursday in Paris, Texas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Commerce with Rev. Melvin Ray and Rev. Joel Arnold officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
Mr. Maples was born May 18, 1917, in Wolfe City; the son of Thomas lee and Maude Nelson Maples. He married Melba Lynn Middlebrooks on Dec. 28, 1941, in Rockwall.
A lifelong resident of Hunt County, Mr. Maples received his bachelors degree in Industrial Arts from Texas A&M-University in Commerce. he was a manager for the ARA Food Service at the university until his retirement.
Mr. Maples was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a chaplain at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville and taught Sunday School at Oak Manor Nursing Home. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Susanne Dougherty of Sulphur Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Sandy Maples of Mansfield and James "Mike" and Kim Maples of Olathe, Kans.; sister, Helen Hardcastle of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Warren Dunham, Leslie miles, James Hawkins, John Porter, Durwood Richardson, Johnnie Henderson, Johnnie Moore, Mike Crowell and Nolan South. Honorary pallbearers are chaplains of Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
Pemberton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Scott Roger Singleton, 70

Scott Roger Singleton of Lewisville, Texas, passed away Sept. 21 in Las Vegas, Nev. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. At Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 3300 La Prada Drive, Mesquite, Texas.
Singleton was born March 17, 1931, in Plains, Kan., the son of Kenneth and Bessie Pierson Singleton. He married Alvara Hermann on Oct. 22, 1954. Singleton was an engineer specializing in large-scale bakery construction and renovation working for various firms throughout the world. He was attending a trade show at the time of his death.
Survivors include his father, Marcel Kenneth Singleton of Nocona; six children including, Jim Singleton of Commerce, Sari Vann of Commerce, Kenneth Singleton of Mesquite, Betty Darling of Dallas, Carol Youseff of Mesquite and Mary Singleton of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Gerhard of Nocona and Ona Hill of Cortez, Colo.; two brothers, Donald Singleton of Houston and Marvin Singleton of Peck, Kan.; plus eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alvara, April 10, 1995; his mother, Bessie Singleton; and a sister, Mayona Singleton.

Felicia Renee' Waddell, 29

Felicia Renee' Waddell of Copeville, Texas, passed away Sept. 24 at the age of 29, due to complications from diabetes. A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. At Belew Funeral Home Chapel, 601 S. Tennessee Street, McKinney. Pastor Kathy McLean-Davis will officiate, with interment held at a later date in Coffeeville, Miss. The family will hold visitation tonight from 6-8 p.m. At the funeral home.
Waddell was born Aug. 16, 1972, in Water Valley, Miss. She is survived by her father, Gary Waddell and his wife, Jacque; mother, Teresa Brown; Charlene and Ricky Harris; brothers and sisters, Brianna, Morgan and Ben Waddell, and Tim, Andy, Chris and Jeremy Brown; grandmothers, Betty Hohenberger and Walterine Sharp; and many other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jennifer Brown, and her grandparents, Ben and Helen Waddell of Coffeeville, Miss.
Alvin Eaton

Alvin Jackson Eaton, 75, of Commerce died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Graveside services were Friday morning at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove with Rev. Brock Mitchell officiating.
Mr. Eaton was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Honey Grove; the son of Charles Lovel and Anzie Rebecca Hall Eaton. He married Iris Lucas on Jan. 15, 1944, in Ferriday, La.
Mr. Eaton was a retired carpenter and a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife of Commerce; sons, Alvin Eaton Jr. of Delhi, La. and Fred Eaton of Emory; daughters, Edith Jones of St. Joseph, La., Iris Curtis of Winnsboro, La. and Martha Hart of Bullard; sister, Hallie Siddle of Vidayla, La.; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Eaton, in 1952; brothers, Harvey Eaton, Frank Eaton and Charles Eaton; and three sisters, Willie Shipman, Ruby Ross and Bessie Parrish.
Point Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Dalford McFadden

Dalford O. McFadden, 80, of Commerce died Wednesday in Commerce. Funeral services were Friday afternoon at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elisha Paschal officiating. Burial was in Emblem Cemetery.
Mr. McFadden was born March 27, 1921, in Hopkins County; the son of G.F. and Virgie Query McFadden. He married Eunice Geneva Patterson on Oct. 30, 1939, in Hopkins County.
A longtime Commerce resident, Mr. McFadden graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1938. He was a mechanic for Williams Motors until his retirement in 1983.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in World War II. He was a Methodist.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Odeanna and Neal Stewart of Commerce and Lisa and Randy Rabe of Klondike; son, Pat McFadden of Commerce; brother, Don McFadden of Sulphur Springs; six grandchildren, Stephanie Keahey, Scott Stewart, Michael McFadden, Marisa McFadden, Traci Rabe and Andy Rabe; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Keahey and Kayla Keahey.
He was preceded in death by his wife on April 24, 2000, one sister and one brother.
Pallbearers were Johnny Nabers, Mark Smith, Norman Messick, David Kerbow, James Martin and Michael McFadden. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Kizer, Lewis Jackson, Gordon Spillers, Wylie Cooper and Denver Walker.
Lora Clark, 99

Lora L. Clark of Commerce died Monday in Commerce. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Flynn officiating. Burial is in Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.
Mrs. Clark was born March 22, 1902, in Commerce; the daughter of George Thomas and Mary Ann Malone Riley. She was married to Joseph Clark on Sept. 20, 1924, in Commerce.
A longtime resident of Fairlie, Mrs. Clark was the postmaster in Fairlie for 31 years until her retirement in 1968. She was one of the founders and the secretary for Sonora Cemetery. She was a members of the Fairlie Ladies Club and Fairlie Methodist Church.
Surviving are grandchildren, Larry Flanagan of Fort Worth, Sharon Bruton of Frankston, Johnny Flanagan of Commerce and Andy Flanagan of Garland; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; brothers, Ed Riley of Wheeler and Earl Riley of McLean; and sisters, Wilma Barker of McLean, and Tommie Jones and Hannah Faye, both of Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Pete Flanagan; four brothers; one sister and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers are Dean Bruton, Danny Bruton, Derrick Bruton, Christopher Flanagan, Johnny Flanagan Jr., Billy Joe Flanagan and Dan Flanagan. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Juilan, Truitt Bishop, Hubert Crowell, Joe Fred Cox, Carl Speight, Butch Boucher, Carolee Walker and Carolyn Burt.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Sonora Cemetery Association.
