Herrera
CAMERON – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Herrera, 70, of Round Rock and formerly of Cameron will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron. Burial will follow in St. Monica’s Cemetery. She died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001 in a Round Rock nursing center.
Mrs. Herrera was born Aug. 14, 1931 in Bracketville to Manuel and Celestina Castro Garcia. She was a former member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron and also worked at Royal Seating as a machinist for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Fred Herrera.
Surviving are: Son, Johnny Conine of Round Rock; daughter, Claudia Conine-Rios of Round Rock; two brothers, Jose Garcia of San Antonio and Patrick Garcia; three sisters, Margaret Martinez of New Hobbs, NM, Jesse Solis of Blum and Irene Fuentes of San Antonio; four grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Bowley
CAMERON – Funeral services for Robert William Bowley, 67, of Montgomery and formerly of Cameron were held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. He died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 in a Conroe hospital.
Mr. Bowley was born Sept. 16, 1934 in Wilson to Hugh Marion and Ruth Victoria Kinnison Bowley. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Conroe and was a warehouse distributor. Preceding him in death was his father, Rev. H.M. Bowley.
Surviving are: His wife, Wanda Bowley of Montgomery; son, Robert Allan Bowley of Montgomery; three daughters, Theresa Ray, Karen Cantrell and Pamela Bowley, all of Houston; mother, Ruth Bowley of Cameron; three brothers, Dwayne Bowley of Cameron, Kenneth Bowley of Rockhill, NC and Phillip Bowley of Belton; six sisters, Norma Crouch of Cameron, Mary Davis of Malakoff, Patricia Glenn of Cameron, Lawanda Black of Malakoff, Glenda Hays and Linda Mayer, both of Cameron; three grandchildren.

Throckmorton
Funeral services for Jerry Robert Throckmorton, 46, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following in Giddings Memorial Park in Giddings. Pastor James Craver of Grace Lutheran Church in Rockdale officiated.
Mr. Throckmorton died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at his home. He was a Rockdale resident most of his life.
He was born Aug. 22, 1955 in Giddings to James and Ethel (Lorenz) Throckmorton. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church on Sept. 11, 1955 by Pastor Robert Studtmann and confirmed on May 30, 1971 by Pastor Theodore Schubkegel.
Mr. Throckmorton worked in the Rockdale ISD cafeteria for over 20 years and was responsible for lowering the U.S. flag at the high school. He was also a client of the MARC Center in Rockdale.
He was a 1977 graduate of Rockdale High School. Mr. Throckmorton was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 40 years and was a long-time usher and active within the church. He also attended the All Stars Sunday School Class at St. John’s United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Rockdale Athletic Booster Club and loved and attended all Rockdale sporting events. He ran the down marker for Thursday football games.
Mr. Throckmorton was the grand marshall for the 1995 Christmas parade. He received a proclamation from the Rockdale City Council designating Aug. 22, 2001, his 46th birthday, as "Jerry Throckmorton Day" in Rockdale.
Survivors include his parents, James and Ethel Throckmorton of Rockdale; a brother, James Throckmorton of El Paso; and a sister, Judy Melcher and husband James of Fairfield.
Pallbearers were James E. Melcher, Loren Tunnicliffe, James R. Melcher, Robert H. Lorenz, John King and Timothy Heartfield. Honorary pallbearers were members of the All Stars Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 247 N. Wilcox, Rockdale, TX 76567, or to the M.A.R.C. Center, 1705 Pecos, Rockdale, TX 76567.

Stephens
Graveside services for Mary Lee Stephens, 79, of Rockdale were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Salty Cemetery in the Salty community with Rev. Ronnie Dyer officiating.
Mrs. Stephens died Saturday, Dec. 8, at a Rockdale nursing facility.
A resident of Rockdale since 1956, she was born June 1, 1922, in Sevier County, Tennessee, to Ed and Myrtle (Lee) Maples.
She married Elbert Lay "Buddy" Stephens on Oct. 29, 1956, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Mrs. Stephens was a gas station operator.
Preceding her in death was her husband on Nov. 18, 1986, her parents and a brother, Herman Maples.
Survivors are a son, Hubert Spencer Stephens of Rockdale; two brothers, John R. Maples and wife Doris of Greenville, South Carolina, and Tom Maples and wife Stella of Knoxville, Tennessee; a special friend, Delores Gest of Rockdale; also several nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Dodd
Graveside services for John Dodd, 74, of Milano were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in the Sand Grove Cemetery near Milano with Rev. Calvin Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiating.
Mr. Dodd died Friday, Dec. 7, in a Temple hospital.
A lifelong resident of Milano, he was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Milam County to Henry Edward and Maudie Lee (McLean) Dodd.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married Pauline Dukes on Sept. 15, 1947, in California.
Mr. Dodd worked as a furnace operator for Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations for 25 years before retiring.
He was an avid fiddle player and won many fiddling competitions throughout Texas and beyond. He was a member of Texas Old-Timers Fiddlers Club and is in the National Fiddlers Association Hall of Fame.
Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Harlan Edward Dodd, James Franklin Dodd and Clinton Wesley Dodd.
Survivors are his wife, Pauline Dodd of Milano; a son, Gregg Dodd and wife Jennifer of Milano; a brother, Woody Dodd and wife Carrie of Rockdale; two sisters, Lois Dodd of Rockdale and Kathryn Mason and husband Jack of Azle; four grandchildren, Romney Fischer and husband Russell of Rockdale, Adam Dodd and wife Kim of Milano, Casey Dodd of Rockdale and Allison Dodd of Milano; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Fischer, Morgan Fischer, Kain Dodd and Kaleb Dodd; also, several nieces and nephews.

Wheelus
Funeral services for Albert Wheelus, 89, were held at 10 am. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following in Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood. Rev. Joel Stevenson of Tanglewood Baptist Church officiated.
Mr. Wheelus died Saturday, Dec. 1 in Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale. He was a resident of the Tanglewood community since 1948.
He was born July 6, 1912 in Fannin County to Jasper Frank and Martha (Bierbauer) Wheelus. Mr. Wheelus worked as a heavy equipment operator for Tonn Construction in Giddings for 20 years and also worked in farming and ranching.
He married Sophia Dell Rhodes on April 17, 1937 in the Pleasant Grove community.
Mr. Wheelus was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. He was a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Lexington ISD board of directors.
Mr. Wheelus was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie Dell Wheelus on June 11, 1991; a son, Albert Ray Wheelus on Oct. 13, 1963; his parents, four brothers, Frank, Elbert, Alvie and William Wheelus; and three sisters, Lottie Machen, Lythie Morgan and Dolly Wheelus.
Survivors include a son, James Elder and wife Gladys of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Emmie Joyce Ranous and husband Gary of Austin; a sister, Emmie Hawthorne of Roosevelt, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers include Mark Ranous, Bruce Ranous, Craig Fitzgerald, Bill Richardson, Alan Richardson and Joe Shippey.

McQuary
Funeral services for Jim McQuary, 70, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001 at Friendship Methodist Church in Davilla with burial in Friendship Cemetery. Rev. Vickie Averit of Friendship Methodist Church officiated.
Mr. McQuary died Tuesday, Dec. 4 in the V.A. Hospital in Temple. He was a lifelong resident of Milam County.
He was born Jan. 21, 1931 in Milam County to David Ross and Prebble (Walker) McQuary. He worked as a rancher and cattle buyer and was a member of Friendship Methodist Church.
He married Sharilyn Varley on Dec. 18, 1984 in Red River County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Sharilyn McQuary of Sharp; a son, James S. McQuary and wife Denise of Sharp; two daughters, LuAnn Daniell and husband David and Tammy Harkins, both of Sharp; a stepdaughter, Jima Mack of Sharp; a brother, Sidney McQuary and wife Minnie of Thorndale; four sisters, Margaret Pope, Lucille Hilliard and husband Harlan, both of Sharp, Dorothy Calloway and husband J.E. of Beaumont and Irene Weydell of Rockdale; his former wife, Glen McCormick of Buckholts; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tim Speer, Mike Tidwell, Kelly Varley, Austin McQuary, Jonah Ingram, Mike Hilliard, L.R. Martin, Dallas McQuary, Wendell McQuary and David Daniell.
