Maurine Ansley, 56

Maurine Riddle Ansley of Dallas died Tuesday at her residence. Funeral services were Friday morning in the Commerce Church of Christ with David Gibson officiating. Burial was in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Hanesville.
Ansley was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Tyler, the daughter of Raymond F. and Arlene Tate Riddle. She attended Commerce public schools and was married to Charles Ansley on June 8, 1963, in Commerce.
Ansley worked for Texas Instruments and Varo Electronics for several years. She was a computer analyst for several federal savings and loan companies in the Dallas area.
She moved to Dallas from Commerce in 1991. She was member of the Church of Christ and while living in Dallas, she attended Bartalamu Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Greg Joslin of Royse City; son and daughter-in-law, David and Tracy Ansley of Dallas; mother and step-father, Arlene and Lloyd Wilkins of Commerce; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Melba Riddle of Mineola; sister and brothers-in-law, Diane and Chuck Houghton of Golden; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Doris and Joe Scott of Greenville and Kenneth Ansley of Royse City; step-brother and wife, Gary and Toopie Wilkins of Clarksville; step-sister and husband, Betty and James Hardman of Plano; and three grandchildren, Scot Ansley, Michael Ansley and Brice Joslin.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Riddle, and her grandparents.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Sullivan, Kenneth Ansley, Gary Wilkins, Glen Savage, Bill Webb and Harold Handke.
Carolyn Gordon, 65

Carolyn Horn Gordon of Dallas died Monday from a long battle with multiple systems atrophy. A memorial services was Thursday afternoon at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Graveside services were private.
Horn was born March 17, 1936, in Ladonia, the daughter of Jake and Thelma Horn. She was a graduate of Commerce High School at age 16 and attended East Texas State University.
She was an artist and owned an interior design business in Waco and Dallas until she retired.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Mark W. Gordon of Dallas; sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Susan Gordon of Dallas and Brent and Heidi Gordon of Glen Ridge, N.J.; mother, Thelma Horn of Tyler; sisters, Donna Thetford of Lubbock, Valee White of Tyler, Loretta Kibler of Commerce, Jenny McFadden of Whitehouse, Brenda Jeter of Memphis, Tenn., and Sherry Maysonave of Austin; brothers, James Horn of Lubbock and John Horn of Mesquite; grandchildren, Greer Gordon and Isabel Gordon of Dallas and Avery Gordon and Sydney Gordon of Glen Ridge, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Division of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Farrah Nichole and Jarrah Paige Fryman

Farrah Nichole and Jarrah Paige Fryman, infant children of James Lee and Angela Michelle Fryman of Commerce, were born and died on June 6, 2001, in Greenville. Graveside services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. in the Stanley Cemetery, with Johnny Joslin officiating at the service arranged by Clayton Funeral Home.
Survivors include their parents; maternal grandparents, Bruce and Janice Webster of Clayton, Okla.; paternal grandparents, Sam and Lavern Moore of DeKalb; aunts, Ashley Crippen and Lacey Webster, both of Clayton, Okla., and Crystal Moore of Dekalb; uncle, Brian Fryman of Texarkana, Texas; maternal great-grandmother, Faye Weems of Panama, Okla.; paternal great-grandmother, Rita Smith of DeKalb; great-great-grandmother, Alice Howze of Stigler, Okla.; great-great-grandmother, Shirley Wadley of Clayton, Okla.; plus several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Altus Gilbert, 95

Altus Rushing Gilbert of Fort Worth died there Sunday. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. today at Shiloh Cemetery in Commerce.
Gilbert was born Aug. 12, 1905, in Hopkins County, the daughter of William Otto and Tommie Ruth Rushing. She was married to Horace Gilbert on Jan. 29, 1922.
She and her husband lived on farm in the Commerce area, growing cotton, peanuts and sugar cane. She was a member of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
Surviving are daughter, Dortha Erwin of Fort Worth; sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Peggy Gilbert of Emerald Bay and Harold and Sara Gilbert of Sugarland; grandchildren, Stephen Erwin and Charles and Rosann Gilbert, all of Houston, Don and Gaynelle Iglehart of Dallas, Kathy and Greg of Austin, Lin and Lisa Lauve of Fayetteville, Ark., Rick Erwin of Floyd Knobs, Ind., and Diana and Kyle Neely of Richmond; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Larry Moreland, 58

Larry Dwain Moreland died Saturday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were Tuesday morning at Horton Cemetery in Delta County.
Moreland was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Horton, the son of Marvin and Ruth Wilson Moreland. He married Janet Marie Hodge on Jan. 20, 1961.
Moreland was a building contractor in Sulphur Springs for more than 20 years and a small engine repairman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Sulphur Springs; mother and step-father, Ruth and James Wilson; son, Tony Moreland of Rockwall; daughter, Janna Kay Redington of Como; brother, Bobby Moreland of Paris; sister, Judy Mills of Mount Vernon; and four grandchildren, Amber Moody of McKinney, Brody Potts of Sulphur Springs, and Anthony Moreland and Tanner Moreland, both of Terrell.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1983; a son, Marvin Moreland in November, 1982; and a sister, Vikki Talley.

Winnie Spain, 88

Winnie Ray Spain died Friday at Lakeside Nursing Home in Highland Heights, Ky. Funeral services were yesterday at Pemberton Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Bryan officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery in Klondike. Her nephews served as pallbearers.
Spain was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Delta County, the daughter of Thomas Albert and Betty Brack Ray. She attended Shiloh School in Delta County.
A former Commerce resident, Spain moved to California and worked as a nurse's aide and retail clerk. After the death of her husband, she returned to Commerce until 1988 and then moved to Kentucky. She was a Baptist.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Faye Watkins of Kentucky; daughter, Betty Spain of California; brothers, T.A. Ray of Klondike, Horace Ray of Long Beach, Calif., and Lester Ray of Mesquite; sisters, Mary Beth Beeson of Mesquite and Reba Trevillyou of Commerce; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lyman Spain, and six brothers.
Opal Preas, 87

Opal T. Preas of Cooper died Tuesday in a Sulphur Springs hospital. Funeral services were May 24 at First Methodist Church of Ben Franklin, with Rev. Al Clark and Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ben Franklin with Masonic services.
Preas was born July 18, 1913, in Delta County, the son of Edgar Combs and Nannie Ballard Preas. He married Mary Elizabeth Preas on Nov. 11, 1940.
A lifelong Delta County resident, Preas was the retired owner of Taylor Abstract and Title Company. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ben Franklin and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of Cooper; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Sherry Preas of Klondike and Bryan and Kathy Preas of Palo Alto, Calif.; daughter, Julia Preas of Ben Franklin; three grandchildren, Derek Preas, Jeremy Preas and Michael Chandler; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Chandler and Kelsey Preas.
Pallbearers were Benny Fisher, Billy Jack Silman, Grover Pickering and grandsons.
Margaret Rhude, 69

Margaret L. Rhude of Keene died Tuesday at Town Hall Estates in Keene. Graveside services were May 24 morning at Rosemound Cemetery with Dennis Hirning officiating.
Rhude was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Commerce, the daughter of Albert and Minnie Whittington Arnold. She was married to William T. Rhude on July 29, 1966, in Hugo, Okla.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oak Cliff.
Surviving are daughter, Sharon Hirning of Independence, Mo.; grandchildren, Rachel Wood of Independence, Mo., Claudine York of Fort Worth and Louise Booth of Longview; and brother, Rex Arnold of Melbourne, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mildred Rhude, Katherine Milkee and Joyce Arnold; and brother, Jack Arnold.

Willie Louise Walker, 79

Willie Louise Walker died Tuesday in the East Texas Medical Center in Crockett. Graveside services were Friday morning in Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce with Rev. Bill Simmons officiating.
Walker was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Denton. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Baptist.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Renee Walker of Crockett; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Malcolm Williams of Orange; grandchildren Chris Masters, Michael Williams, Robyn Williams, John Travis Walker and Jacob Walker; great-grandchildren; Symone Masters and Tyler Masters; and sister, Patsy Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Walker, in 1976.
