Tommy Barker, 69

Tommy Morris Barker of Fairlie died Sunday in Commerce. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pemberton Funeral Home. Burial is in Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.
Barker was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Fairlie, the son of James Franklin and Maude Barker. He married Nelda Julian Williams on Sept. 1, 1990.
Barker retired from Foremost/Schepps Dairy in Dallas after 43 years of service. He was a deacon and a member of Fairlie Baptist Church; also serving as a treasurer and pianist. He was a Past Master of Tannehill Masonic Lodge No. 52, AF & AM, a member of Commerce Masonic Lodge No. 439 AF & AM, member of Hella Dallas Shrine Temple and Past Patron of Bluebonnet Buckner Chapter No. 888, O.E.S.
Surviving are his wife of Fairlie; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Boggs of Geneva, Switzerland; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Barry Smith of Alabaster, Ala., and Judy and Curtis Hightower of Pottsboro; sisters, Uralee Farell of Fairlie, Lucille Lloyd of Garland and Maureen Stepter of Dallas; brothers, Allen Barker of Sulphur Springs, Hollis Barker of Longview and Roy Dale Barker of Fairlie; and grandchildren, Colin, Graham and Evan Boggs of Geneva, Switzerland; Alison, Mallory and Andrew Hightower of Pottsboro; and Brandon, Devin, Michael and Laurel Smith of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys Barker and Lilas Barker; brother, Harold Barker; and former wife, Patricia Rowe Barker.
Pallbearers are Bob Barker, Mike Barker, Steve Barker, Danny Farell, Jim Lloyd and John Lloyd. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Lee Farell, Billy Julian, Dicky Julian, Mike Crowell, Second McQueary, John McKibben and Weldon Wilson.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Nancy Ann Bray, 53

Nancy Ann Moreland Bray died Thursday. A memorial service is at 3 p.m. today at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas. A private burial is scheduled for Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.
Bray was born Aug. 3, 1947, in El Paso, the daughter of O.K. and Helen Wilson Moreland. She was a member of an Air Force family and lived at several places in the U.S. and Europe. She attended primary school in London (Ruislip), England and graduated from Commerce High School in 1965.
She received her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
A psychologist, she spent 20 years on the faculty at the University of Texas-Dallas in the special education department and Southwestern Health Science Center pediatrics department. She finished her career with a private practice in North Dallas.
Bray was twice honored as an outstanding college professor, winning the Amoco award. She was active in several professional organizations and as a community volunteer. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was a member of the Preston Hollow Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Laura Elizabeth Bray and Ellen Michelle Bray. She was preceded in death by her parents; uncles, Ralph Moreland and Don Wilson; grandparents, Dr. Don R. and Myrtle Miller Wilson, and James Russell and Vara Lockhart Moreland; and her former husband, Gary Bray.

Evelyn Hutcherson, 76

Evelyn Josie Hutcherson of Wolfe City died Wednesday in Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services were yesterday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in Greenville. The body will be transported to San Diego, Calif., for additional family services.
Hutcherson was born March 25, 1925, in Painted Post, N.Y., the daughter of Robert Walter and Mable Weaver Smith. She was married to George Anderson II in 1945 and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1997. She was married to A.J. Hutcherson on Sept. 12, 1997, in Commerce.
Hutcherson received a bachelor's degree from the University of California and a nursing degree from the University of California at San Diego. She was a nurse at the University of California at San Diego and retired after 32 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rebekah Lodge No. 395 and the Relief Society, a woman's organization.
Surviving are her husband of Wolfe City; sons, George Anderson III of San Diego and David Anderson of Vista, Calif.; daughters, Marie Nieuwenhuis of Hortonville, Wis., and Alice Hupertz of San Diego; stepchildren, Sue Yarberry of San Diego, Donal Walker of Arlington and Wayne Atha of Greenville; 27 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Smith of Toole, Utah; and sisters, Thelma McDonald of San Diego, Alberta Frey of Shingletown, Calif., Pearl Rice of Chula Vista, Calif., and Nellie Clark of Apple Valley, Calif.

Josie Mae Follis, 78

Josie Mae Hall Follis of Cumby died Saturday in Grand Prairie. Funeral services were yesterday at the First Baptist Church of Cumby with Wesley Dean officiating. Burial was in Cumby City Cemetery.
Follis was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Jacobia in Hunt County, the daughter of Joseph Leonard and Vera Romans Hall. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cumby.
Surviving are brothers, Leonard Hall and Truett Hall, both of Grand Prairie; George Hall of Sulphur Springs and Truman Hall of Mesquite; nine nieces and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, R.C. Follis; and sisters, Gladys Romans and Veda Hall.
Pallbearers were Raymond Parker, Gerald White, David Hall, Joe Hall, Terry Williamson and Douglas Williamson.
Emma Pilgrim, 83

Emma Jewell "Nanny" Pilgrim of Greenville died Monday in Greenville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Pemberton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Ray officiating. Burial is in Rosemound Cemetery.
Pilgrim was born June 19, 1917, in Normagee, the daughter of Radlif Hampton and Delia Caldwell Anderson. She was married to Herman Lee Pilgrim in January, 1939.
A former resident of Commerce and the Horton Community, she was a member of the Artis Heights Baptist Church in Greenville.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Debbie Pilgrim of Greenville; sister, Faye Tavalla of Austin; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 13, 1973, and five brothers.
Pallbearers are Chris Neaville Sr., Chris Neaville Jr., A.J. Anderson, Archie Anderson, Auldie Anderson and Michael Cottrell. Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Stogner.
Rev. L.M. Sheffield, 72

Rev. L.M. Sheffield of Orange died Monday at his residence. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. today at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Orange with Rev. Tommy Miles and Rev. John Mastrovich officiating.
Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Thursday at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.
Rev. Sheffield was born in Ladonia. He was a retired Baptist minister and had pastored churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Orange; sons, Bill Sheffield and Don Sheffield, both of Orange; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dorman Funeral Home in Orange is in charge of arrangements.
Ella Winniford-Taylor, 94

Ella Lorena "Miss Ella" Winniford-Taylor of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday in Texarkana. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Jones Memorial Chapel at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home with James Winniford officiating. Burial is in Cumby Cemetery.
Taylor was born July 23, 1906, in Hopkins County, the daughter of Robert Lee and Margaret Landtroop Winniford. She was married to Thomas Melton Taylor on Dec. 13, 1924, in Greenville.
Taylor was her own self-made heiress earning her money by 1924 from raising 5,000 turkeys each year from age seven to 18. She also raised cows to sell calves each year.
Taylor and her husband owned businesses and donated land for the present Texas A&M University-Commerce campus. She worked on genealogy chart verification nationally.
The former Cumby resident was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution from Valley Forge patriot, Colonial Dames 1600s ancestors, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Robert-the-Bruce Society in America verification membership committee.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynna Taylor-Bergen of Texarkana; son, Robert Taylor of Texarkana; three grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a nephew, James Winniford of Gilmer; and nieces, Dovie Winniford of Houston and Ida Winnford-Sparkman of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Walter Woodley Jr., 72

Walter E. Woodley Jr., of Marshall died May 5 in Shreveport, La. Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Sullivan Family Funeral Home Austin Street Chapel with Rev. David Rice and Rev. Mike Midkiff officiating. Burial was in Woodley Cemetery in Elysian Fields.
Woodley was born April 6, 1929, in Harrison County, Texas, the son of Walter E. Woodley Sr. and Anna Mercer Woodley. He graduated from Elysian Fields High School. He married Lily Bell Hopkins on April 16, 1949, in the Gill Community.
Woodley was employed by Thiokol as a fireman and was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Marshall; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Janey Woodley of Sugarland and Wayne and Diana Woodley of Pasadena; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Grace Woodley, Weldon and Molly Woodley, and Larry and Linda Woodley, all of Marshall; sisters and brother-in-law, Gladys Hester and Betty and Leo Clark, all of Marshall; grandchildren, Jim Woodley and Matt Woodley, both of Commerce, Derek Woodley of Baytown, Shana Smith, Bubba Smith and Summer Talton, all of Pasadena, and Quint Brock and Doug Brock, both of Sugarland; great-grandchildren, Brea Talton and Shelby Smith; and step-mother, Emma Gene Woodley of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Nell Futrell and Grace Earl, and brother, Richard "Dickey" Woodley.
Pallbearers were Jim Woodley, Matt Woodley, Derek Woodley, Doug Brock, Quint Brock and Clifton Woodley. Nieces and nephews were honorary pallbearers.
