Christopher Lee Vieau, 22

Friends and family will remember the life of Christopher Lee Vieau of Commerce with a funeral service Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints in Greenville. Bishop Philip Sanders will officiate at the service arranged by Pemberton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Land in Greenville. He died March 25 in Dallas.
Vieau was born April 17, 1978, in Trenton, Ontario, Canada, the son of Bryon Vieau and Linda Sutherland Jordan. He had lived in Commerce since 1988, having moved from Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1996. While in high school he was on the basketball and baseball teams and the city league teams. He was a member of Boy Scout Troup 326 in Greenville. Vieau was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints Church in Greenville.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Linda and Jacky Jordan of Commerce; father, Bryon Vieau of Trenton, Ontario, Canada; stepfather, Tom Selvaggi of Commerce; twin brother, Steven James Vieau of Commerce; brother Joseph Selvaggi of Commerce; four sisters, Aimee Bird, Arbon-Valley, Idaho, Sara Vieau, Andrea Selvaggi and Catie Selvaggi, all of Commerce; grandparents, Lewis and LaRee Sutherland of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Doris Franklin of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; step-grandparents, Rossi and Lillian Selvaggi of Austin; one niece and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lewis Vieau.
Visitation is Friday, March 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Pemberton Funeral Home.
Willie H. Berry, 92

Funeral services for Willie H. Berry of Commerce were held yesterday at Jones Memorial Chapel. Berry died March 22 at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. David Gibson officiated at the service arranged by Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Rosemound Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Cagle, Alan Cagle, Larry Cagle, Jason Oehlke, Ray Berry and Jimmy Doudney.
Berry was born in Graham, Ala., Aug. 2, 1908, the daughter of Doc and Sara Treadwell. On April 3, 1926, she married Charlie M. Berry in Commerce. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and J.R. Oehlke of Garland; daughter-in-law, Bettye Berry of Commerce; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Berry; two sons, James and Morris Berry; daughter, Curtice Cagle; grandson, Steve Dobney; three brothers and five sisters.
Laura Edna Bryant, 94

Laura Edna Bryant of Tyler died March 19. Funeral services were held at Pemberton Funeral Chapel on March 21 with Rev. Mike House officiating. Interment followed at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie. Pallbearers were Otis Horton and Nolan South. Pemberton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bryant was born in Hunt County on Nov. 1, 1906, the daughter of Thomas Johnson and Nannie Davis Shields. She married Clyde William Bryant in Fairlie on Dec. 23, 1924. She was a former resident of the Fairlie Community and moved to Commerce in 1972. She then moved to Tyler to be near her family. Bryant graduated from Durham Community School of the Sweatbox Community. She was in charge of housekeeping for Oak Manor Nursing Home for three years. She was a member of the Fairlie Ladies Club, formerly the Home Demonstration Club, of Fairlie. She was also a member of the Rebecca Sunday School Class and the First Baptist Church of Commerce.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Joan Bryant of Bullard, Texas; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
David Franklin Pool, 56

Graveside services were held March 24 at Rosemound Cemetery for David Franklin Pool of Quinlan. He died March 21 at Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville. Pallbearers at the service arranged by Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home were Johnny Williams, Mark Shively, Jefferson Burroughs, Tommy Adams, Allan Pocrnich and Ricky McCain.
A truck driver and U.S. Navy veteran, Pool was born in Dallas, July 19, 1944, the son of David Sanford and Louise Dillard Pool. He married Opal Williams in Dallas on Nov. 16, 1983. He belonged to AmVets in Mesquite.
Pool's survivors include his wife, Opal Pool of Quinlan; daughters, Jamie Wooten of Commerce and Hermie Mills of Lancaster; sons, Tommy "Bubba" Adams of Oregon, Craig Bethke of Denton and Jeffrey David Bethke of Waco; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Smith, Doris Pool and Peggy McCain, all of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Ray Pool.
Ladouska "Duskie" Myers, 95

Friends and family remembered Ladouska "Duskie" Myers of Commerce yesterday, March 24, with a funeral service at Pemberton Funeral Chapel. Dr. Bobby Tollison officiated at the service arranged by Pemberton Funeral Home. Interment followed at Rosemound Cemetery. She died March 21 at C.C. Young Nursing Home in Dallas.
Myers was a lifetime resident of Commerce. She was born in Cooper, Nov. 25, 1905, the daughter of Sterling Price and Tillie Walker Hart. She married Yvorn Myers. She graduated from East Texas State Teachers College-Training School in 1921. She then attended ETSTC for an additional two years. She owned and operated Duskie Myers Gift Shop for 22 years. Her father owned The Commerce Journal for 50 years and she worked in the circulation department and wrote a column called "Doings by Duskie." She donated the land for the Oak Manor Nursing Home, on Sterling Hart Drive, which was named for her father. John Hart Hall on Texas A&M University-Commerce campus was named for her brother. She was an artist and loved people. She was a member of the Coterie Culture Club, charter member of the PEO and the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce.
Myers is survived by her son, Charles Sterling Myers and his wife, Bobbie, of Garland; son, John Myers and his wife, Judy, of Dallas; son, Robert Carroll (Bob) Myers and his wife, Lois, of Plano; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Yvorn Myers in 1945; and two brothers, John Hart and Sterling Hart, Jr.
Velma Lucille Stovall, 74

Funeral services for Velma Lucille Stovall of Campbell were held March 23 in West Oaks Funeral Chapel in Sulphur Springs with Chaplain John Conner officiating. Interment followed at Brigham Cemetery in Campbell. Pallbearers were Chad Stovall, Bobby Rhoades, Rocky Don Stovall, John McLane, Charlton Stovall and Heath Stovall. She died at her residence March 20 following an extended illness.
Stovall was born in the Union Valley Community of Hunt County, July 17, 1926, the daughter of John Allen and Bertie Florence Junior Sneed. She married Charlton Auldon Stovall in Rockwall on May 11, 1941. She was a homemaker, a life-long resident of Hunt County and a member of First Baptist Church of Royse City.
Stovall is survived by her husband, Charlton Auldon Stovall of Campbell; three sons, Don Auldon Stovall of Royse City, Dennith Wayne Stovall of Bonham and Darrell Lynn Stovall of Quinlan; two daughters, Diane Rhoades of Saltillo and Velma Darlene Crouch of Campbell; one sister, Margaret Ruth Stanbery of Grand Saline; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Crowell David Stovall in 1981; a brother, Melvin Sneed; and a sister, Ima Lee Cook.
Memorial may be made to the VNA Hospice Association or to Breast Cancer Research.
Mary Louise Terrell, 77

Graveside services for Mary Louise Terrell of Athens, Texas, were held March 22 at Rosemound Cemetery. She died March 20 in Athens. Rev. Roy Lee Dittmar officiated at the service arranged by Pemberton Funeral Home.
Born April 19, 1923, in the Jordan Community, she was the daughter of Charles Bradley and Lona England Sissel. She married Edwin Lee Terrell. She was a longtime resident of Commerce and a 1941 graduate of Commerce High School. She worked in the business office at East Texas State University for 35 years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Athens.
Survivors include her son, Brad Elmore of Athens, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Charles F. and Eunice Sissel of New Mexico; brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Jolene Sissel of Greenville, S.C.; sister, Frances Miller of Commerce; three grandchildren, Tiffany Elizabeth Elmore, Ross Bradley Elmore and Jay Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin (Ed) Lee Terrell in August 1990; and one sister, Dorothy Ann Sissel in 1926.
Royal Lee Yeager, 83

Funeral services for Royal Lee Yeager of Campbell were held Monday, March 19, at Jones Memorial Chapel. Rev. David Hougham officiated at the service arranged by Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sunnyvale. Pallbearers were Al Rinehart, Dennis Brummett, Tom Yeager, Chuck Carter, Truitt Coffman and David Watson. Honorary pallbearers were Charles May, Steve Certain and Danny Imhoff.
Yeager was born March 12, 1918, in Wichita Falls, the son of Royal Ambrose and Susan Fredonia Nicholson Yeager. On Sept. 2, 1977, he married Frances Dewberry in Dallas. He graduated with a BS in Education from the University of Texas at Austin and was working on his master's degree at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University-Commerce. He was an Industrial Arts teacher at Mesquite High School, retiring after 13 years. He served as Assistant Superintendent/Tax Assessor for four years with the Commerce ISD. He also worked at LTV and E-Systems in Greenville as a Contract Administrator and worked at Convair in Ft. Worth as a Tool and Die Engineer. Yeager was a Sergeant Major U.S. Army veteran, a member of Rotary International, a Mason and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Campbell.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Yeager of Campbell; daughters, Judy Klein of California and Geana Yeager of Campbell; son, Jimmy Bostick of Campbell; brother, Harold Yeager of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters, Aurie McShane of Wichita Falls and Mary Jo Haggman of Whitney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Jamie Loraine Yeager.
Mozelle Kemendo, 83

Mozelle Kemendo of Dallas passed away March 18, 2001. She was a business and sales manager, homemaker and mother. She was a member of Scofield Memorial Church. She graduated from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939. She taught home economics in Cisco and Blairstown, Texas. She was also a member and past president of the Reader's Digest Book Club at the Dallas Athletic Club, a member and past president of the Wood Lake Garden Club, as well as a member of the Atlasta Book Club.
Kemendo is survived by her sons, Michael A. Eager and his wife, Anne, of Longview, Texas, and John Bruce Eager and his wife, Lori, of Bartonville, Texas; six grandsons, Mike, Robert, John J., Ryan M., Joshua and Chase Eager; four granddaughters, Kathy Parkhurst, Johnnelle Switzer, Beth and Ali Eager; two great-granddaughters, Phoebe Switzer and Abi Eager; one sister, Fay Dugdale and one brother, Richard J. Turrentine, Jr., as well as a number of other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Kemendo; her parents and two brothers, Audie Turrentine and Billy Frank Turrentine.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 21, at Scofield Memorial Church, 7730 Abrams Road, Dallas,, with Rev. Steve Turrentine and Rev. Bill Humphries officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Services were arranged by Turrentine, Jackson & Morrow of McKinney, Texas.
