Cornelia ‘Coots’ Smiley
BROWNWOOD -- Cornelia "Coots" Smiley, 89, of Grosvenor, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grosvenor Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Merrit officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Ms. Smiley was born in Caldwell county. She was a homemaker and a member of Grosvenor Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Wyvetta Casey of Grosvenor; one son, James Smiley of Lake Brownwood; two sisters, Mabel Garrett of Grosvenor and Ollie Malaer of Eula; one brother, W.W. Lovel of Moody; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thelma Beulah Young
Thelma Beulah Young, 91, a longtime Abilene resident, died Saturday at a local care center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at the Hawley Church of Christ with Don Faber officiating. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Jones County, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Young was born in Spicewood and attended school in Spicewood, Dripping Springs and Marble Falls. She was the widow of Robert S. Young, whom she married in Austin in 1924. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Robert S. Young Jr. of Hawley; two daughters, Boots Jarrett and Eva Solomon both of Abilene; one grandchild; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

William Amos ‘Bill’ Blevins
WOODSON -- William Amos "Bill" Blevins, 72, died Saturday.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Woodson First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Woodson Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. Blevins was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., and attended school in Putnam. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in the oil fields of west Texas. He was retired from Hexcel in Graham. He was the widower of Dee Miller, whom he married in Breckenridge in 1947. He was a member of the Woodson First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Blevins of Woodson and Raymond Blevins of Decatur; one daughter, Charlotte Pennington of Brazoria; one sister, Marjorie Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at the Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to the Woodson First Baptist Church or the Woodson Fire Department.

Mary Boatright Bledsoe
SWEETWATER -- Mary Boatright Bledsoe, 90, died Friday in a local care center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with the Rev. David Edwards officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bledsoe was born in Sweetwater. She was the widow of Arthur C. Bledsoe. She was a World War II veteran, having been a member of the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots (WASP). She taught school in the Odessa, Abilene and San Angelo school systems.
Survivors include one stepson, William "Bill" Bledsoe of California; one brother, Jake Boatright of Sweetwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommie D. Standfield
ANSON -- Tommie D. Standfield, 75, a long time area resident, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Tye Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Standfield was born in Flomot. She was the widow of William "Bill" Williams and J.T. Standfield. She worked for many years as a waitress. She was a member of the Prairie View Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Valley View Nursing Home.
Survivors include two brothers, J.A. Middleton Jr. of Brownwood and Lewis Middleton of Gordonville; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Aileene Cook
SWEETWATER -- Aileene Cook, 77, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in the First Methodist Church of Nolan with the Revs. Ronnie Newton and Richard Petree officiating. Burial will be in Slaters Chapel in Nolan, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cook was born in Mulberry Canyon. She was the widow of J.L. Cook, whom she married in Gainsville, Fla., in 1942. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World, and the 600 bowling club.
Survivors include one daughter, Leigh White of Nolan; one sister, Elna Fay Huff of Snyder; two brothers, Billy Wayne Frazier of Roscoe and David Frazier of Karnes City; and one grandchild.

Ella Mae ‘Granny’ Welch
BROWNWOOD -- Ella Mae "Granny" Welch, 80, died Friday in a Comanche hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Welch was born in Brown county. She was the widow of Leroy Welch, whom she married in Brown county in 1936. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Jesse Welch of Brownwood; one daughter, Glenda Crownover of Comanche; one sister, Thelma Taylor of Brownwood; ten grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Evan Mitchell
EASTLAND -- Evan Mitchell, 82, a longtime resident, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Plant officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Hood county. He was a graduate of Eastland High School and attended Pasadena University in California. He served with a U.S. Army field artillery unit in the European theater during World War II. He was retired from Moylan Construction Company. He was a Sunday school teacher and member of the welcoming committee at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, L.W. Mitchell of Cross Plains; three sisters, Betty Jo Scott of Fort Worth, Dixie Pontremoli of California and Gracie Lee of Eastland; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim Prine
WINTERS - Jim B. Prine, 77, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Mr. Prine was born in Winnsboro, where he lived until joining the Army during World War II. He moved to Runnels County and worked in the oil field and was custodian in the Winters Independent School District for a number of years. He was a Baptist. He married Elouise Bailey in 1946 in Harmony.
Survivors include his wife, of Winters; one son, Donald Prine of Winters; one daughter, Brenda Grohman of Winters; two brothers, Horace Chilton Brown of Winters and Marion Wayne Prine of Dallas; three sisters, Edith Ditmore and Ludeanne Prine, both of Winnsboro, and Mary Jo King of Winters; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Lucille Anderson
CISCO - Lucille Anderson, 88, of Fort Worth died Saturday at a Grapevine hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Janice Robberson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Cisco and was a homemaker. She married Henry Eston Anderson in 1929; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Yuvonne Sentell of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

BROWNWOOD - Burley D. Richmond, 81, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Wright officiating. Burial will be in Rock Church Cemetery in Brown County.
Mr. Richmond was born in Blanket and lived in Brown County all his life. He was a retired rural mail carrier and a Baptist.
Survivors include two brothers, Jule Richmond of Blanket and Jim Richmond of California; one sister, Sue Smith of New York, N.Y.; his stepmother, Lillie Richmond of Blanket; special caregiver Pearl Fernando of Brownwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
