Henry Trueman Calk
COLEMAN - Henry Trueman Calk, 89, of Menlo Park, Calif., and formerly of Coleman County, died Saturday in California.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Mr. Calk was born in Silverton and graduated from Coleman High School and from Draughn's Business College in Abilene. He taught school in Coleman and Runnels counties and was a Civil Service training specialist for the Air Force for 31 years. He married Antonio "Tony" Smith in 1935 in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Storm of Golden, Colo., and Carolyn Williams of Menlo Park; one son, Lewis Calk of Los Altos, Calif.; two sisters, Iva Lee Souter of San Antonio and Nadine Harris of Houston; two brothers, Roy Calk of Tucson, Ariz., and James Norris Calk of Coleman; five granddaughters, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Versie Pace McMillan
COLORADO CITY - Versie Pace McMillan, 87, died Friday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. McMillan was born in Fairview community, where she attended school. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife and a member of Fairview Home Demonstration Club and First Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Pink Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. She married Robert McMillan in 1928 in Colorado City.
Survivors include two daughters, LaJuana Solomon of Colorado City and Etta Lee Jones of California; two sons, Weldon McMillan of Colorado City and Robert "Bob" McMillan Jr. of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Alice Grimes of San Angelo; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Pink Ladies at Mitchell County Hospital or the library fund at First Baptist Church.

O.W. Mayfield
COLEMAN - O.W. Mayfield, 87, of Burkett died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wright Price officiating. Burial will be in Burkett Cemetery.
Mr. Mayfield was born in Haskell and grew up and attended school in Rising Star. He was a longtime resident of Coleman County, where he ranched and was a retired pipeline contractor. He was a member of Burkett Baptist Church. He was the widower of Willie Dee Martin and Billie Gene Adams.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Huckabee of Midland and Billie Hamilton of Andrews; two sons, Gaylon Mayfield of Lewisville and Windel Mayfield of Coleman; two sisters, Isabel Ingram of Rising Star and Mary Grace Foster of Freer; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Martin
THROCKMORTON - Kenneth A. Martin, 72, died Sunday at a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Merriman-Archer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Clark officiating. Burial will be in Throckmorton Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born in Throckmorton and was a retired farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and had lived in Lubbock, Throckmorton and Haskell. He was a Baptist and worked for an exploration company for several years. He married Marilyn Simmons in 1952 in Glendive, Mont.; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Keith Martin of Lubbock; four daughters, Lessie Wilder and Roxanne Smith, both of Lubbock, Lynette Patterson of Richardson and Billie Neskarick of Cee Vee; his mother, Lessie Martin Moore of Hico; one sister, Vandell Rogers of Hico; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Josie Lackey
MERKEL - Josie Lackey, 82, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trent First Baptist Church with the Revs. Sherman Driggers and Carl Schroyer officiating. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lackey was born in May and moved from Carlsbad, N.M., to the Trent-Merkel area in 1960. She was a member of Trent First Baptist Church, Women's Missionary Union, Womens Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Gold Star mother. She co-owned Roy's Café in Trent and was a waitress. She married James Roy Lackey in 1950 in Carlsbad; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Lackey of Ada, Okla.; four daughters, Betty Jean Pole of Ballinger, Doloris Teague of Waller, Judy Van Arsdale of Sterling City and Nellie Jo Varley of Hawkins; two brothers, Herman Reynolds of Trent and Robert Reynolds of Odessa; two sisters, Ruth Riney and Faye Whitted, both of Merkel; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph Armenta Sr
LUBBOCK - Ralph I. Armenta Sr., 64, died Monday at a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Gene Driscoll officiating. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Cathedral with Bishop Placido Rodriguez officiating. Burial with Knights of Columbus and military rites will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Mr. Armenta was born in Saginaw, Mich., and retired in 1974 after 15 years in the Air Force, including service in Korea and Vietnam. He had been employed by the Lubbock Independent School District for four years. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Sierra Club and was district deputy and a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He lived in Abilene from 1971-1980 before moving to Lubbock. He married Gloria Vera in 1957 in Puerto Rico.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Peggy Shaw and Cindy Festa, both of Dallas, and Patty Ramey of Lubbock; two sons, Ralph Armenta Jr. of Odessa and Richard Armenta of Dallas; one sister, Dolores Hubber of Grand Blanc, Mich.; one brother, Frank Armenta of Las Vegas, Nev.; and eight grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today.

William 'Butch' Boyd
GORMAN - William "Butch" Boyd, 54, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Watson officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd was born in Gorman and was a truck driver and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He married Brenda Treadway in 1964 in Gorman.
Survivors include his wife, of Gorman; two daughters, Paula Breeden of Abilene and Sherri Hair of Gorman; and three granddaughters.

COLEMAN - Tyryc Cencrez Roberts, infant, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church in Brownwood with the Rev. Paul Gossett officiating, assisted by the Rev. Digie Hamilton. Burial will be in Babyland in Eastlawn Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Tyryc was born in Coleman.
Survivors include his mother, Crystal Thompson of Coleman; his father, Marcus Roberts of Brownwood; grandparents Janet Franich of Coleman, Mark Thomson of Abilene and Terrie and Joe Slaughter of Brownwood; great-grandmothers Natalie McIver of Trickham and Bessie Dunbar of Arkansas; and several aunts and uncles.

Leonard Watson
STAMFORD - Leonard Watson, 74, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Foster-Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlin with the Rev. Tracy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Watson was born in Quitman and graduated from Hamlin High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and had lived in Stamford since 1952. He was a retired rancher and businessman and a Baptist. He married Beulah Rose in 1945 in Hamlin.
Survivors include his wife, of Stamford, and several nieces and nephews.

Nora Lee McAdams
ALVIN - Nora Lee McAdams, 84, died Sunday at a local care home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Northview Cemetery in Winters with the Rev. Don Roath officiating, directed by Oak Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. McAdams was born in Henderson and lived in Winters during the 1930s and '40s. She was a former member of West Athens Baptist Church in Cross Plains and had lived in the Alvin area since 1978. She was the widow of John McAdams.
Survivors include two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
