OZONA - Mary Etta Layman, 65, died Tuesday in a San Angelo hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Aspermont with the Rev. Mickey Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Aspermont Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mrs. Layman was born in Stonewall. She married Loyd Layman in Rotan in 1960. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of Ozona; three daughters, Kriss Tambunga of Ozona, Judy Ballinger and Cathy Ballinger of Sweetwater; two sons, James Loyd Layman of Midland and Michael Bruce Layman of Carlsbad, N.M.; one sister, Anna Lou Capps of Nolan; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Bessie Newman
BROWNWOOD - Bessie Newman, 86 of May, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Heartland Funeral Home chapel with Donny Auventshine officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Newman was born in Brown County. She married Thomas Newman in Mitchell County in 1931. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Owens Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include her husband of May; four sons, Robert Doyle Newman of May, Garland Wayne Newman of Blanket; Thomas Gerald Newman of Lubbock, and Billy Gene Newman of Brownwood; one brother Paul Sawyer of Snyder; one sister, Jimmie Millhollon of Early; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Mae Watson
BAIRD - Dorothy Mae Watson, 83, formerly of Santa Anna, died Tuesday at her son's home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Weathers officiating. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery, directed by Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
Mrs. Watson was born in Copperas Cove and graduated from Copperas Cove High School. She married Napoleon Carlton Watson in Santa Anna in 1942. She was retired from Shitager Hatchery and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Santa Anna; one son, Carlton Watson of Baird; one sister, Doris Griffin of Santa Anna; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Richard "Ricky" Chaumont
BROWNWOOD - Richard "Ricky" Chaumont, 45, died in Brownwood.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home chapel with burial in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Chaumont was born in Lake Charles, La., and was an employee of 3M. He married Marcia Smith in Brownwood. He attended Early First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Brownwood; four daughters, Rita Hall of Bangs, and Holly Chaumont, Stephanie Chaumont and Alyson Chaumont all of Brownwood; one son, Damon Chaumont of Brownwood; his mother, Lollie Chaumont of San Angelo; three brothers, Mick Chamont of Coppell, and Jimmy Chaumont and Mark Chaumont of San Angelo; three sisters, Kay Hewitt of Christoval, Susie Smith of Arlington and Mary Mohler of San Angelo; one grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Sarah Reed
BROWNWOOD - Sarah Reed, 55, of Early, died Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Heartland Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bud Stephens officiating.
Mrs. Reed was born in Wheeling, W.Va. and moved to Brown County in 1967. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Barron of Blanket and Donne Barron of Williams; one daughter, Alicia Rouse of Brownwood; and nine grandchildren.

Effie Vera Berryman
JASPER - Effie Vera Berryman, 101, died Saturday, February 20.
Services were held on Monday, February 22, at the Jasper Church of Christ with Eddie Johnston, her son-in-law, and John Bob Cody, her grandson, officiating. Burial was in Yellowpine.
Mrs. Berryman was born in Sabine County. She was the widow of A.A. Berryman, whom she married in 1915. She taught in the Texas public schools for 35 years, the last 13 of which she taught in the Sterling City, Denton Valley and Clyde school districts. Her husband, whom she met at the beginning of her teaching career, retired from teaching in 1945 and went into the ministry and preached for 35 years. He was known in the Churches of Christ through Texas. He preached in the Clyde Church of Christ from 1948-57, before moving to Jasper in 1958.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrle Johnston and Mildred Morris both of Jasper; one son, Dr. Wayne Berryman of Kilgore; one daughter-in-law, Mary Berryman of Shreveport, La.; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Sandra Kay Lott
WACO - Sandra Kay Lott died Thursday in her home.
Services were Monday, February 22, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Waco with L.C. Nobles officiating, directed by Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Ms. Lott was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and was employed with M&M Mars for 15 years before being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and joining the Lake Air congregation. In 1990 she joined the Pioneer Ministry Service and was a convention delegate in Brazil in 1990 and in South Africa in 1993.
She is survived by her mother, Imogene Lott of Abilene; one sister, Brenda Faye Glover of Fort Washington, Md.; two brothers, Bernest J. Lott Jr. of Denton and Robert Dale Lott of Lubbock; two aunts, Onnie Wrencher of Abilene and Lovanna Benson of Wichita, Kan.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial may be made to the Worldwide Preaching Work c/o Lake Air Congreagation, Waco.

SWEETWATER - Bonnie Kate Jones, 90, a longtime resident, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Cecil Deadman officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born in Reklaw. She was the widow of Guy M. Jones, whom she married in Tyler in 1926. She was a homemaker and a member of the Avondale Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Katie Walton of Sweetwater, Verlia Ratliff of Roscoe, Etta Jones of DeSoto and Joy Jones of Leander; three sons, Glyn, Jones, Charlie Jones and Jerry Jones all of Sweetwater; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Roy McLaury
ASPERMONT - Roy McLaury, 67, died February 13 in an Amarillo hospital.
Graveside services were held February 15 in Aspermont under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home of Abilene.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Plainsman Room in the Fine Arts Building at Frank Phillips College in Borger.
Mr. McLaury was born in Dumont and lived in Borger for 41 years. He was a farrier, working in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stinnett.
Survivors include three daughters, D'aun Brown of Carbon, Cindy Brazeal of Amarillo and Tammy Weiser of Cisco; one step-son, John Robinette of Vega; and eight grandchildren.

Novella Susan Lassetter
MIDLAND - Novella Susan Lassetter, 86, formerly of Stamford, died Tuesday in a local care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Kinney Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Lassetter was born in Rising Star. She was the widow of Arnell Glover Lassetter, whom she married in Brownwood in 1930. They moved to Stamford in 1931 and ran a farming operation. She was a member of Saint John's United Methodist Church in Stamford.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma Louise Green of Midland; two granddaughters, Becky Speight of Midland and Debby Levitt of Houston; and one great-grandchild.
