Wesley O. Wurz
EASTLAND -- Wesley O. Wurz, 85, formerly of Dallas and Maybank, died Wednesday.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Laurel Oaks Cemetery in Mesquite with the Rev. Marc Rogers officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Wurz was born in San Antonio. He married Eula Jean Olive in Odessa in 1939. He served with the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II. After discharge, he moved to Dallas and worked for Natkin and Company before retiring and moving to Cedar Creek Lake and then Eastland. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 100 and the American Legion. He was a past president of the Oil Workers Union and camping chairman for the Dallas Camp Fire Girls.
Survivors include his wife of Eastland; two daughters, Carol Geistweidt of Fredricksburg and Janet Molina of Arlington; one son John Wurz of Ranger; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country in Abilene.

Shelby McClenden Horn
Shelby McClenden Horn, 86, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Northview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Horn was born in Moro Community and lived in Runnels County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Edna Doris Bowling in 1956. He worked for Lion Hardware in Abilene and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene.

Rayberne L. Oliver
RULE - -Rayberne L. Oliver, 67, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rule Church of Christ with John Greeson and David Hall officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.
Mr. Oliver was born in Woodson. He married Paula Gaynelle Horton in Woodson in 1952. He worked as an oilfield superintendent and was a member of the Rule Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of Rule; three daughters, Sammie Anders of Abilene, Sandra Heiman of Canyon, and Barbara Sustaire of Allen; one son, Ronnie Oliver of Stephenville; and nine grandchildren.

Ovella Stone
Ovella Stone, 96, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Higginbotham Funeral Home chapel with burial in the Rising Star Cemetery.
Mrs. Stone was born in Burkburnett. She was the widow of J.M.. Stone, whom she married in Wichita Falls in 1926. She had lived in Wichita Falls, Mineral Wells and Rising Star before moving to Abilene. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include one son, Bill Stone of Abilene; one sister, Erma Farrell of Cal.; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Annie Claudene Matthews
PLANO -- Annie Claudene Matthews, 76, formerly of Aubrey, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the Midway Baptist Church of Aubrey with the Revs. Bob Logan and Bob Ross officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Cemetery, directed by Huff-Slay Funeral Home of Pilot Point.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Antlers, Okla. She was the widow of J.D. Matthews, whom she married in Tioga in 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, David Brent Matthews of Plano; one brother, Houston E. Rollins of Lubbock; two sisters, Hazel Barrow of Dalhart and Willie Mae Cooper of Tioga; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Isabel B. Vargas
BRECKENRIDGE -- Isabel B. Vargas, 70, died Wednesday in a local care center.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the Saint George Catholic Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Saint George Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Melcher officiating. Burial will be in Rule City Cemetery, directed by Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Mrs. Vargas was born in Ranger. She was the widow of William Vargas. She worked as a seamstress.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Contreras of Lubbock; one sister, Petra Puebla of Breckenridge; one brother, Silverio Baiza of Rule; longtime companion, Joe Martinez of Breckenridge; and two grandchildren.

James Royce Allred
NOODLE - James Royce Allred, 61, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Noodle Church of Christ with the Revs. Dick Griffith, Wes Price and Morris Chancey officiating. Burial will be in Compere Cemetery in Jones County, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mr. Allred was born in Jones County. He married Myrna Patterson in Abilene in 1957. He graduated from Noodle High School and Rutherford Business College. He worked as a ruffneck in the oilfield and for Standard Oil as an assistant manager before joining Computer Sciences Corporation of Austin where he worked for 25 years. He was a deacon at the Sunset Church of Christ and a board member of the Texhoma Youth Camp.
Survivors include his wife of Noodle; two daughters, Jamie Ann Allumbaugh of Noodle and Donna Sue Smith of Midlothian; one brother, Simmie Allred of Abilene; one sister, Elva Loyce Hatfield of Noodle; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ron E. May
EASTLAND - Ron E. May, 32, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bakker Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Rex Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Murray Cemetery in Carbon
Mr. May was born in Eastland and graduated from Graham High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Gulf War.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Morgan of Breckenridge; his grandmother, Ella Mae Hogan of Carbon; one brother, Robbie May of Gorman; three sisters, Darla Dale of Ranger, Sonya Neill of Breckenridge, and Randa Bradley of Eastland; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie Morren
EASTLAND - Bonnie Morren, 76, died Friday in a Stephenville hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Bakker Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tim Plant officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery.
Mrs. Morren was born in Childress. She worked at Sheppard Air Force Base and then was employed by the City of Eastland. She was a local election judge and was active in bowling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, John David Morren of Eastland and Thomas Allan Morren of Andrews; one daughter, Pamela Rice of Stephenville; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Louise White
SWEETWATER - Louise White, 88, died Wednesday in an Abilene care center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Dr. Darris Egger officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mrs. White was born in Stamford. She was the widow of John White, whom she married in Sweetwater in 1935. She was a graduate of Cisco High School, the University of North Texas and Hardin-Simmons University. She taught school for 44 years. She was a member of AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, Wesleyan Service Guild, Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers and National Education Association.
Survivors include a nephew, Bayles Melton of Dallas; two nieces; one great-nephew; and one great-niece.

Louie Edward McCleskey
RANGER - Louie Edward McCleskey, 79, died Tuesday in Brenham.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. McCleskey was born in Ranger. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, reading and going to church.
Survivors include one sister, Opal Woolsey; one brother, George Moore; and two nieces.
