Oletha Elizabeth Strother
HAMLIN - Oletha Elizabeth Strother, 75, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Foster-Adams Funeral Home chapel with Jerry Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Strother was born in Hamilton County and attended school in Hico. She was the widow of Jeff Strother, whom she married in Marfa in 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Davis Strother of Liberal, Kan., and James Strother and Berry Strother both of Hamlin; one sister, Lorena Davies of Mesquite; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arley Newt Blackerby
WINTERS - Arley Newt Blackerby, 70, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jerry Shields and Winford Gore officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackerby was born in Throckmorton County. He graduated from Breckenridge High School and Cisco Junior College before attending Hardin-Simmons University. He married Betty Jean Samford in Eliasville in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and worked in oilfield construction. He was a member of First Christian Church in Ballinger and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9193 in Winters.
Survivors include his wife of Winters; one son Kelly Blackerby of Glen Cove; one daughter, Brenda Kay Hiller of Uvalde; three brothers, G.R. "Punk" Blackerby and Wayne Blackerby both of Breckenridge, and Frank Blackerby of Daingerfield; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Tony Borrego
BENBROOK - Tony Borrego, 36, died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Skyvue Memorial Gardens in Fort Worth, directed by Benbrook Funeral Home.
Mr. Borrego was a manager for Diamond Shamrock. He was born in Abilene and had been a Benbrook resident for seven years.
Survivors include his parents, Tony and Janie Borrego of Abilene; and one brother, Reuben Borrego.

Marvin Jaggars Sr
DUBLIN - Marvin Jaggars Sr., 91, died Firday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Harrell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Barbee Cemetery.
Mr. Jaggars was born in Hillsboro. He was the widower of Etta Belle Everett, whom he married in Hamilton in 1929. He was a farmer and a member of Edna Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Jaggars Jr and Waymon Jaggars both of Dublin; three daughters, Areta Johnson and Patsy Howell both of Dublin, and Jo Dean Lippard of White Settlement; three brothers, George Clark Jaggars of Downing, Cal., Gene Jaggars of Alexander, and Guy Milton Jaggers of Goldthwaite; four sisters, Thelma Brown of Dublin, Ore Bales and Betty Nix both of Stephenville, and Rudell Russell of Blanket; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dublin.

Casey Shawn Mathis
STAMFORD - Casey Shawn Mathis, 28, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Saint John's United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.
Mr. Mathis was born in Throckmorton and moved to Stamford as a child. He married Jennifer Shaver in Throckmorton in 1995. He was a graduate of Stamford High School and attended Howard County College and Western Texas College. He worked as a foreman at the Swenson Land and Cattle Company and was actively involved in the Texas Cowboy Reunion Rodeo.
Survivors include his wife of Stamford; his parents, Gary and Wanda Mathis of Stamford; two brothers, Dustin Mathis of Stamford and Cody Mathis of Abilene; his maternal grandmother, Wilma Wells of Stamford; and four nephews.

Cora Lee Reed
BROWNWOOD - Cora Lee Reed, 85, died Thursday in College Station.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Ron Cook officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Reed was born in Waco. She was the widow of Alton Reed, whom she married in Waco in 1937. She graduated from Baylor University and was a retired public school teacher. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent at the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution; and the Junior 20th Century Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Reed Davis of College Station and Susan Reed Smith of Amarillo; four grandchildren; three great-granchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

Billie G. DeFoyd
ODESSA - Billie G. DeFoyd, 78, died Thursday in an Odessa hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. DeFoyd was born in Winters. She married Charles DeFoyd in Fredrick, Okla., in 1937. She was a retired beautician and volunteer at Ward County Hospital. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of Odessa; one sister Opal Wheeler of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.

Bobby Gene Jones
SAN ANTONIO - Bobby Gene Jones, 63, died Thursday
A prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Ortiz Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Ortiz Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was a retired firefighter with the Brownwood Fire Department. He was active with REACT and the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Jones, and one son, Robert Keith Jones.

William 'Bill' Sutton Dudley
COMANCHE - William "Bill" Sutton Dudley, 66, lifelong local resident, died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Dudley was born in Comanche and retired as a construction supervisor from the Texas Department of Transportation. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widower of Nancy Jo Haynes Dudley, whom he married in 1956 in Brownwood.
Survivors include two daughters, GiGi Dudley Riley and Jo Lane Chick, both of Comanche; two brothers, Charles Lane Dudley and Bob Dudley, both of Comanche; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Comanche Public Library.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Willa Wallen
RANGER - Willa Wallen, 87, of Bay City and formerly of Ranger, died Friday in a Bay City nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Mesquite & Rusk Street Church of Christ with Shawn Johnson and Kenneth Evans officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wallen was born in Cassville, Mo., and lived in Austin for 45 years and Ranger for 20 years. She worked in sales for Evelyn's Fashions for more than 30 years. She moved to Bay City two years ago. She was a member of University Church of Christ in Austin and Mesquite & Rusk Street Church of Christ in Ranger. She was the widow of Paul E. Wallen, whom she married in 1929.
Survivors include two sons, Paul K. Wallen of Bay City and Bill K. Wallen of Rochester, Minn.; and four grandchildren.
