A.B. Youngblood, 86, of Abilene, died Saturday. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Bill Luttrell officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Youngblood, a longtime Abilene resident and businessman, was born in Admiral on June 16, 1912. He married Louise Couch in 1934. He was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Payne of Canyon; one son, Joe B. Youngblood of Corpus Christi, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alice M. Childress Collett
Alice Magdeline Childress Collett, 76, of Abilene, died Friday at her home. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory with David Mickey officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Collett was born in Wheeling, W. Va., graduated from Manning High School in Greenville, W.Va., and moved to Abilene in 1943. She married Gerald Collett and helped manage the Bettis Ranch for more than 35 years. She was a member of Abilene Bible Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Pippin, Nelda Collett and Ramona Collins, all of Abilene, and Carol Grinnell of Joplin, Mo.; a son, Alex Gerald Collett of Abilene, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Hulon Rudell Claxton
Hulon Rudell Claxton, 82, of Abilene, died Friday at a local hospital. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. H.B. Terry officiating; directed by Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Claxton was born in Sidney, Ark., and attended schools in Batesville, Ark. He moved to Abilene from Missouri in 1980. He married Velma Dennison. He worked for a moving company and was a retired contract mail truck driver. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church and Cobb Park Senior Citizens Center.

Kathleen Whittington Wimberly
LUBBOCK - Kathleen Whittington Wimberly, 90, of Lubbock, died Friday. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Stamford, with Dr. Andrew Dearman officiating; directed by RIX Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Wimberley was born July 16, 1908 in Stamford. She graduated from Stamford High School and attended the College of Industrial Arts in Abilene. She worked in Fort Worth for the Gulf Oil Company until 1954 when she moved to Midland. She married Giles Wimberly on June 19, 1954. She lived in Midland until 1997 and helped manage the Midland Sample Library. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, William Whittington of Lubbock; a step-daughter and two nieces.

A.T. 'Pete' Jones Jr.
BURKBURNETT - A.T. "Pete" Jones Jr., 61, of Burkburnett, died Saturday in a Wichita Falls hospital. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Burkburnett with Dr. Tim Russell and the Rev. Jerry Hendrix officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, Albany, directed by Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born in Woodson on Oct. 24, 1937. He married Betty Ash on Nov. 5, 1960. A. U.S. Army veteran, he worked many years in the oil fields and recently at Allred Prison. A singer and songwriter, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burkburnett, the Victory Street Gospel Quartet and past president of the Swinging Stars Square Dance Club and the Red River Valley Square and Round Dance Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Angela Jones of Abilene; a son, Alan Jones of Abilene; a sister, Lenda Morris of Fort Worth; five brothers, Dale Jones and Delbert Jones of Breckenridge, Jerry D. Jones and Henry Jones of Woodson, and Leon Jones of Haskel.
Memorial may be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls, P.O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, TX 76308 or Fort Worth Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

J.L. Lancaster Jr.
BROWNWOOD - J.L. Lancaster Jr., 84, of Brownwood, died Friday at a local hospital. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Lancaster was born Oct. 16, 1914 in Salado. He married Fletcher Perry in Fort Worth in 1943. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft in Fort Worth and had lived in Brownwood since 1974. He was a member of the Bangs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Lucy Baker of Brownwood, and a nephew.

Bertie Simmons Wilson
Bertie Simmons Wilson, 99, a longtime resident of Abilene, died Friday at a local nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Comanche County and attended Merkel schools. She moved to Abilene in 1917 and was a retired bookkeeper, having worked many years for Wilson Transfer. She was a Baptist. She married James H. Wilson in 1923 in Abilene; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Jerry J. Wilson of Puerto Villarta, Mexico, and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmie Blackford
Jimmie R. Blackford, 68, died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Rev. Rick Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Baird-Ross Annex Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackford was salutatorian of Odessa High School in 1949 and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1953 with a bachelor's degree. She attended McMurry and Trinity universities and began teaching in the Abilene Independent School District at North Junior High in 1955. She taught at Cooper High School in 1960 and retired in 1989. She was a Baptist and a member of Texas State Teachers Association. She married Roland Blackford in 1952 in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one daughter, Rebecca Tinnell of Kingwood; one sister, Nita Reeves of Ramsey, N.J.; one brother, Bill Barttell of New Braunfels; and one granddaughter.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today.

Edward Blackwell
Edward Blackwell, 83, of Anson died Friday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev J.W. Smith and Samuel Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Blackwell grew up in West Texas and was a heavy equipment operator and farmer for 50 years. He moved to Anson in 1991. He was a Baptist. He married Lola May Essary in 1942 in Indio, Calif.
Survivors include three daughters, Bessie Siesser and Sherry Dauer, both of Anson, and Mollie Harrold of Delhi, Calif.; four sons, Samuel Edward Blackwell of Anson, Luther Earl Blackwell of Avondale, Ariz., and Albert Lee Blackwell and Ronnie Allen Blackwell, both of Camp Verde, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.

Harriett Amelia Smith
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Harriett Amelia Smith died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Burial will be in Marianna Memorial Park in Marianna, Ark.
Mrs. Smith was a retired cashier for St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Business and Professional Women.
Survivors include one sister, Frances Elizabeth Smith of Memphis; and one niece, Susan Threlkeld of Abilene.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Organ Fund in Memphis.

Phyllis Kendrick
CISCO - Phyllis H. Kendrick, 85, died Sunday at an Eastland hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Hendrick Religious Diorama Auditorium with the Rev. Larry Baird officiating. Private family graveside services will follow, directed by Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Kendrick was born in Woodson and moved to near Cisco more than 60 years ago. She and her husband ran the Kendrick Religious Amphitheater with Easter services for several years. She was the widow of James Hubert "Pop" Kendrick.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Kendrick, Pierre Kendrick and Phil Kendrick; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
