Elton Norris Curry
WINNFIELD, LA. — Elton Norris Curry, 83, died Wednesday in an Alexandria, La. Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Allen and Craig James officiating. Burial will be in the Hurricane Grove Cemetery near Sikes, directed by Southern Funeral Home.
Mr. Curry was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II. He retired from the Jersey Sanitary Dairy and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Norris Wayne Curry of Natchez, La., David Lee Curry of Abilene, and Thomas Twain Curry of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Lucille Coplen
SWEETWATER — Lucille Coplen, 85, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery.
Mrs. Coplen was born in Comanche County. She was the widow of James O. Kay Coplen, whom she married in Hamilton in 1935. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry K. Coplen of Pryor, Okla. and Joe Sid Coplen of Sweetwater; one daughter, Linda Jean Watts of Blackwell; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Martha T. Rubin
BROWNWOOD — Martha T. Rubin, 61, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Davis-Morris funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rubin was born in Wagon Mound, N. M., and had lived in the Brownwood for the past 35 years. She was a previous employee of Brownwood Regional Medical Center. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include one sister, Carmen Vital Mendez of Brownwood; three brothers, Esmael Rubin and Pete Rubin of Wagon Mound, N.M., and Juan Rubin of San Jose, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael Lawrence Gatewood
HAMLIN — Michael Lawrence Gatewood, 40, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Tracy Watson officiating, directed by Foster-Adams funeral Home. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Gatewood was born in Monterey, Calif. He married Carol Hart in Bremerton, Wash., in 1978. He owned Mike’s Repair in Hamlin. He was a member of the first Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #958.
Survivors include his wife of Hamlin, two daughters, Rhonda Sue Gatewood and Jamie Ann Gatewood both of Hamlin; his mother and step-father, Rhonda and Vernie Johns of Denton; his father, Jack Gatewood of Corpus Christi, one brother, David Johns of Denton; two sisters, Anne Harthun of Snyder, Okla. and Sharon Gustovich of Wexford, Penn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mollie Belle Miller
Mollie Belle Miller, 86, died Thursday at a local nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Miller was born in San Saba and graduated from Westbrook High School. She received nurses' training in Stamford and worked at Hendrick Medical Center for 11 years. She was the widow of L.S. Miller, whom she married in 1933. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Diana Boyle of Houston and Hazel Conaway of Tulsa, Okla.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

M.P. "Mac" Powers
M.P. Powers, 70, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will at 11 a.m. today in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Michael Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Powers was a U.S. Air Force retired S/Sgt. and also retired from the V.A. Hospital in Salem, Va. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Retired Sgt. Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Powers of Abilene; two sisters, Pauline Butler of Aberdeen, Md. and Gladys Gilbert of Manassas, Va.; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry Jay Pittman, Jr.
CLYDE - Larry Jay Pittman, Jr., 35 died Friday in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Clyde with the Revs. Donny Harbers and Jerry Joplin officiating. Burial will be in the Potosi Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Pittman was born in Austin and was a longtime resident of the area. He graduated from Wylie High School. He married Kelly Renee Ingram in Abilene in 1988. He was employed by Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company of Abilene. He was a member of Potosi Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Clyde; two daughters, Jaci Pittman and Kayli Pittman, both of the home; his father and stepmother, Larry and Barbara Pittman of Clyde; his mother and stepfather, Sandy and Kenneth Lockett of Brownwood; one brother, Paige Pittman of Brownwood; three sisters, Dayna Hernandez of Haskell, and Jennifer Lockett and Casey Pittman, both of Brownwood; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hall of Brownwood; paternal grandmother, Sweetie Allen of Abilene; and several aunts and uncles.

Col. Robert Karl Bein, U.S. Army (Ret.)
Col. Robert Karl Bein, U.S. Army (Ret.) 77, died Thursday at a local hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest with the Revs. Scott Mayer and Rosemary P. Thomas officiating. Interment of the cremains will be in the Columbarium at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Col. Bein was born in Van Buren, Ind. He was a graduate of the University of Nebraska. During his military career, he served in the European Theater during World War II and in Vietnam. During his service he earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Legion of Merit with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, World War II Victory Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (4 campaigns), and Joint Service Commendation Medal. He married Evelyn Willoughby in 1948 at Bremerhaven, Germany. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest and Brotherhood of Saint Andrews, Masonic Lodge and 32nd degree Scottish Rite, National Sojourners, Shriners, and Heroes of 76.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, Robert Karl Bein II of Abilene; one daughter, Priscilla Bein Lagomarsino of Byhalia, Miss.; one brother, George Edward Bein of Watsonville, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

James Davis Walker
James Davis Walker, 74, died Thursday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker was born in Grassland and graduated from McMurry University. He was the widower of Pearline S. Walker, whom he married in Grassland in 1955. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, Infantry Combat Medal, Eastern Service Medal, Europe-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Theater Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a prisoner of war. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Post.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie Carlisle of Abilene; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

Lilly Donaldson
COLEMAN - Lilly Donaldson, 78, died Friday in a local medical center.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Ricky Rister officiating, directed by Walker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Donaldson was born in Mason City, Iowa. She was the widow of Tom Donaldson Sr., whom she married in 1946 in Mason City, Iowa. She was a Pentecostal.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Sellers of Coleman and Carmen Parrott of Durant, Okla.; two sons, Tom Donaldson Jr. of Valera and Fred Donaldson of Durant, Okla.; two sisters, Carmen Soule of San Francisco, Calif., and Betty Harris of Mason City, Iowa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
