H.L. Sansing
ROSCOE - H.L. Sansing, 66, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery.
Mr. Sansing was born in Delta County. He married Armeta L. Bas in Paris in 1956. He moved to Roscoe in 1981 from Wellman. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Roscoe Lions Club. He worked for Nolan County. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Roscoe; one son, Terry Sansing of Lubbock; sister, Billie Choate of Cooper; two brothers, Delmer Sansing of Mineola and W.L. Sansing of Garland; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Laura 'Slim' Halbrooks
MERKEL - Laura "Slim" Halbrooks, 89, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Trent United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rex Mauldin officiating. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Halbrooks, was born in Ward, Ala. She attended Roscoe High School. She was the widow of J.C. "Jack" Halbrooks whom she married in 1934 in Sterling City. She moved to Trent in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of Trent United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Byrom of Trent and Jackie Wood of Denton Valley; one brother, Woody Allen of Midland; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Luvenia Johnson
ROTAN - Luvenia Johnson, 81, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Montgomery, Ala. She was the widow of Willie Johnson, whom she married in Montgomery, Ala. She had lived in the Fisher County area for 53 years and was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Golston of Sarasota, Fla. and Wesley Smith of Michigan City, Ind.; three daughters, Della Mae Butler of Sarasota, Fla., Fayola Collins of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Tucker of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Mary Morris of Sarasota, Fla.; three brothers, Issac Golston of Chicago, Ill., Louis Golston of Saint Ann, Ill., and Willie Golston of Detroit, Mich.; a host of grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe Mae Lester Sparkman
MAY - Joe Mae Lester Sparkman, 78, died Thursday in a Brownwood hospital after an extended illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Hester and Herman Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Sparkman was born in Wolf Valley. She graduated from May High School and attended Howard Payne University. She married Robert Sparkman in 1942 and was active in the Air Force Wives Club while her husband served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. In 1969, she moved back to the area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of May.
Survivors include her husband of May; one son, Phillip W. Sparkman of Houston; two daughters, Pamela Mansfield of Geneva, Ill. and Candice K. Mitchell of Perrin; one sister, Lou Jane Graves of Brownwood; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Maria Luisa Arriola
Maria Luisa Arriola, 67, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Saint Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Arriola was born in LaParrita and was raised in Alice. She was the widow of Enrique Arriola, whom she married in Robstown in 1952. They moved to Abilene in 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Armando Gonzalez and Reynaldo Orona, both of Lubbock; two daughters, Nelida Gonazlez of Houston and Maria Rosario Gonzalez of Abilene; two sisters, Beatriz Godines of McAllen and Esther Lopez of Alice; two brothers, Profirio Alegria of Arlington and Manuel Alegria Jr. of Dallas; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Eunice 'Penny' Porter
Eunice "Penny" Porter, 79, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside serviced will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters with the Rev. James Gehrels officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 North Second.
Mrs. Porter was born in Winters. She married J. Edgar Porter in Winters in 1936. They lived in Abilene from 1941 to 1956, at which time they moved back to Winters. They returned to live in Abilene in 1977. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; one son, Jimmy Porter of Abilene; one daughter, Martha Sellers of Abilene; one brother, C.L. "Pete" Eoff of Winters; four sisters, Maurine Wood, Velma Porter, and Delphine Rogers, all of Abilene, and Jean Knight of Roscoe; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

Rodolfo Chapa Salinas
AUSTIN - Rodolfo Chapa Salinas, 64, formerly of Abilene and Harlingen, died Friday, March 12.
Services were held at San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Kirby Garner officiating. Burial was in Assumption Cemetery under the direction of Villasenor Family-Mission Funeral Home, Austin.
Mr. Salinas was born Sept. 6, 1934 in Alamo. He married Catalina Balli on April 13, 1955. He was a professional builder and was last employed by Dillard's at Austin's Barton Creek Mall.
Survivors include, his wife, of Austin; three daughters, Ida Flores of Abilene, and Sylvia Brown and Nelda Elizalde, both of Harlingen; two sons, Rudy Salinas II and Noe Salinas, both of Harlingen; three sisters, Ninfa Rodriguez and Albesa Salinas, both of Alamo, and Esmeralda Ledesma, of Mission; a brother, Oscar Salinas, of Alamo, and seven grandchildren.

Margarita Rodriquez Rocha
Margarita Rodriquez Rocha, 79, died Thursday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Rocha was born in San Antonio and moved to Abilene in 1947. She worked for Abilene Packing Plant and for Holiday Inn. She married Rosalio Sotelo Rocha in 1941 in Stanton. She was a member of Saint Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; six sons, Celestino R. Rocha, Rick R. Rocha, Arthur R. Rocha, Silvano R. Rocha, and Efren R. Rocha, all of Abilene, and Jody R. Rocha of Clyde; three daughters, Susie Villalobos and Carmen Molina of Abilene, and Margie R. Contreras of Boone, N.C.; four brothers, Jim Rodriquez, Marcial Rodriquez, Julio Rodriquez, and Juan Manuel Rodriquez, all of San Antonio; one sister, Maria R. Santellan of San Antonio; 50 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
