Betty C. Wolfe
Betty C. Wolfe, 88, died Thursday in a Merkel nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 North Second.
Mrs. Wolfe was born in London, England. She was the widow of Charles C. Wolfe. She and her husband owned and operated the Majestic Theatre in Abilene and theaters in Del Rio and Carlsbad.
Survivors include one niece, Sharon Rosenfeld of London, England; and one nephew, Michael Rosenfeld of London, England;
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Arthur Samuel Beck
RANGER - Arthur Samuel Beck, 90, died Friday at his home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Beck was born in Stephens County and attended school in Bullock. He married Una Oneda Bowen in Ranger in 1980. He worked for TP Oil as a supervisor, Olin Smith Welding, and Reynolds Welding of McCamie before returning to Ranger in 1975. He was a previous Mason and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Ranger; three daughters, Beverly Stewart, Sue Simmons, and Jackie Bush, all of Ranger; one son, Ron Beck of Austin; one sister, Alta Carroll of Granbury; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lora Mae Foy Crow
SWEETWATER -Lora Mae Foy Crow, 77, of Abilene, died Friday in an Abilene nursing home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Thorell officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mrs. Crow was born in Sweetwater and graduated from Sweetwater High School. She attended Texas Tech. She married Charles E. Crow in Eastland in 1940. She lived in Dallas and Houston prior to returning to west Texas in 1983. She was a volunteer at numerous hospitals. She was a member of DAR and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two daughters, Joyce Spizer of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Janis Lewis of Denver, Colo; and one brother Winston Foy of Freeport.

Donald Gene Dunn
COLORADO CITY - Donald Gene Dunn, 41, died Wednesday in a Lubbock hospital. A Native American graveside ceremony conducted by Tom Seabourn and Greg Redden will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Dunn was born in Odessa and attended school in Big Spring and Colorado City. He became a certified welder and worked primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He had recently moved back to Big Spring and was employed by Signal Homes.
Survivors include his mother, Yolande Dunn of Colorado City; and one brother, Earis Dunn of Colorado City.

Rubye Darnell
RISING STAR - Ruby Darnell, 76, died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Darnell was born in Rising Star and graduated from Rising Star High School. She was the widow of Raleigh Edward Darnell, whom she married in Rising Star in 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Daneilia Harrell of Early; two sons, Tom Darnell of Bangs and Ray Darnell of Eastland; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James T. 'Jim' McElvaney
COLORADO CITY - James T. "Jim" McElvaney, 55, died Friday in a Mitchell County hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Revs. Travis Monday and Ted Spear officiating. Burial will be in the Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. McElvaney was born in San Angelo. He married Carolynn Godsey in 1982. He retired from Texaco Exploration and Production Co. after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Colorado City; his parents, J.A. and Billie McElvaney of Brady; two sons, Travis Price of Elizabeth City, N.C. and Tracy McElvaney of Keller; three daughters, Lori Michelle Smith of Lubbock, Lori Kay McElvaney of Odessa, and Julie Hines of Hobbs, N.M.; two sisters, Naomi Jordan of Hobbs, N.M. and Ann Smith of Odessa; one brother, Billy Robert "Bob" McElvaney of Brady; and eight grandchildren.

Opal Reid
CISCO - Opal Reid, 88, died Tuesday in a Mesquite nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Scranton Cemetery.
Mrs. Reid was born in Weatherford. She was the widow of Van Reid, whom she married in Stanton in 1927. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Nilan Reid of Rowlett; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don Albert Hudgens
Don Albert Hudgens, 69, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Dr. Tom Thomson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
Mr. Hudgens was born in Whitesboro, where he attended school. He moved to Abilene from Whitesboro in 1952 and was a self-employed oil field consultant for 25 years. He was an Army veteran and a Presbyterian. He married Evelyn McCormick Stevens in 1956 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Dennis Hudgens of Saginaw and Jim Stevens of Grapevine; two sisters, Opal Wilson of Hurst and Vera Burns of Sunnyvale, Calif.; one niece and one nephew.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Mrs. Ray (Lula) Mundy
Mrs. Ray W. (Lula) Mundy, 84, of Abilene died Sunday at a local care center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Phil Christopher and the Rev. H.S. Calahan officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Mundy was born in Hunt County and moved to Jones County as an infant. She lived in Merkel for 13 years before moving to Abilene. She attended school in Hodges, Truby and Abilene. She was a former employee of Bullock Hardware in Merkel and operated the gift department at Bible Hardware, where she was employed for 18 years. After retiring, she was a genealogical researcher for 18 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Abilene Genealogical Society, where she was treasurer. She married Ray W. Mundy in 1933 in Abilene; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Bryan W. Mundy of Abilene and Charles R. Mundy of Houston; one sister, Mary (Mrs. Cecil) Scott of Abilene; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Windcrest Alzheimer’s Care Center Benevolence Care Fund, 6050 Hospital Drive, Abilene 79606.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.

Rogelio Cantu
ROTAN — Rogelio Cantu, 76, of Hobbs died Friday at a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Johnrose Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Cantu was born in Rosebud and was a veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and a member of St. Joseph Cath0lic Church. He married Magdalena Mijares in 1949 in Rotan.
Survivors include his wife, of Hobbs; three daughters, Lydia Martinez of Fort Worth, Eloisa Martinez of Mesquite and Teressa Cantu of Irving; two sons, Rogelio Cantu Jr. of Sweetwater and Ramon Cantu of Hobbs; six sisters, three brothers and six grandchildren.
