Dorothy Medford
CISCO — Dorothy Medford, 79, died at her home.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Turner officiating, directed by Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Home.
Mrs. Medford was born in Goldthwaite. She graduated from Athens High School and attended John Tarleton College in Stephenville. She was the widow of Raymond L. Medford, whom she married in Cisco in 1942. She worked as the secretary to the comptroller of the Cisco First National Bank until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Jill Hollywood; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

David L. Mayfield
David L. Mayfield, 65, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Highway 277 South with Myung Kyo Lee officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Mayfield was born in Dallas where he attended school. He was a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring in 1973 at Dyess Air Force Base. He also retired from Texas Instruments. He married Nami Kim in Abilene in 1975. He was a member of the Abilene Korean Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; three sons, Clifford Mayfield of Hamlin, and Mark Mayfield and Randall Mayfield, both of Abilene; two brothers, Reginald Mayfield of Mesquite and Weldon Mayfield of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Magdalene Grigg of Silver Springs, Md.; and five grandchildren.

Aaron Pat Rutledge
Aaron Pat Rutledge, 77, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Rutledge was born in Jonesville, La. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after a 30-year career. He married Veary Seymore in 1983. He was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; four sons, Marion Rutledge of Houma, La., and Ronnie Rutledge, David Rutledge and Clark Moody, all of Abilene; two daughters, Carolyn Hebert of Port Arthur and Judy Ingram of Abilene; two sisters, Maudell Coleman of Jonesville, La., and Audry Long of Louisiana; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James ‘Jimmy’ Weldon Bowden Jr.
COMANCHE — James “Jimmy” Weldon Bowden Jr., 34, died Tuesday near Comanche.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Comanche Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Bowden was born in Garland and had lived in the area since 1991. He was employed by Matthews Distributing Company of Brownwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Methodist.
Survivors include two daughters, Kellie Bowden and Megan Bowden, both of Arlington; one son, James Bowden of Arlington; parents, Weldon and George Ann Bowden of Comanche; grandparents, Marvin and Lena Bowden of Comanche, and Ethel and Harry Hunter of Quinlan; one sister, Rene Murphy of Garland; and several aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be made to the Comanche Library.

Beuna Newmon Spratlen
Beuna Newmon Spratlen, 88, died Monday at a local hospital
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Woodard officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. Spratlen was born in Mountain View, Okla., and attended school in Friona. She moved to Abilene in 1942. She was a homemaker and a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church and AARP.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby E. Farnes of Abilene; two sisters, Jean Griffith of Georgetown and Dr. Ruby Faw of Arlington; a brother, O.A. “Skeet” Newmon of Prescott, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

James Clinton Lewis
SWEETWATER — James Clinton Lewis, 72, died Monday at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Revs. Buddy Sipe and Keith Clifton officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was a lifelong resident of Nolan and Fisher counties. He married Kathleen Stevens in Sweetwater in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an auto mechanic, worked for the Texas Highway Department and as an agent for American National Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Sweetwater; two sons, Clyde Lewis of Garland and Stanley Lewis of Midlothian; one brother, Weldon Lewis of Midland; three sisters, Helen Watson of Dallas, Frances Green of Blackwell and Ann Kiker of Mineral Wells; and three grandchildren.

Dora Marie ‘Sis’ Bartley
HASKELL — Dora Marie “Sis” Bartley, 71, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. David Page officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Bartley was born in Haskell County. She was the widow of John Bartley. She was a homemaker and volunteer nutrition bookkeeper for the Haskell Experienced Citizens Center. She was a member of the Gleaner’s Sunday School class at East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include one stepson, Don Bartley of Midland; two stepdaughters, Patsy Walker of Southlake and Frances Kreger of Wilcox, Ariz.; two sisters, Maggie Lee Melton of Abilene and May Belle Benton of Haskell; and one brother, Otis Piland of Abilene.

Edna J. Jackson
NOVICE — Edna J. Jackson, 89, died Wednesday in a Coleman care center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the North Main Street Church of Christ in Winters with the Revs. Lyndon Key and Charles Key officiating. Burial will be in Shep Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Blackwell and was raised in Shep. She married Loy Jackson in 1931 in Abilene. She had lived in Novice since 1959. She was a member of North Main Street Church of Christ in Winters.
Survivors include her husband of Coleman; two daughters, June Saverance and Sue Key, both of Novice; two brothers, A.D. Talley of Abilene and Gene Talley of Santo; four sisters, Zada Robinson of Gridley, Calif., Lucille Reagan of Shep, and Eva Jolley and Shirley Akin, both of Abilene; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Madison Carroll Garrett
Madison Carroll Garrett, infant, died Tuesday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories with the Rev. David Cason officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Highway 277 South.
She was born Thursday to Todd and Angela Garrett.
Survivors include her parents of Abilene; grandparents, Walter and Linda Garrett, and Ben and Dianna Carroll, all of San Antonio; and great-grandparents, Bud and Bertha Carroll of Palestine, Jay and Katherine Colclasure of Memphis, Tenn., and Ezra and Claudia Couch of Oklahoma City, Okla.
