Mae Dell Smedley
BAIRD - Mae Dell Smedley, 56, of Baird, Died Saturday in a Rising Star nursing home following a three month illness.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in the Ross Cemetery Annex with Terry Simmons officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home of Baird.
Ms. Smedley was born in Rowden. She had lived in the Baird area all of her life. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two brothers, R.L. Smedley Jr. of Rising Star and Noah Smedley of Baird; two sisters, Nelda Wilkinson of Dallas and Sheila Webb of Pampa; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert E. Walls
Robert E. Walls, 53, of Abilene, died Thursday at a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 2 .m. Monday at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park with Eddie Sharp and Dr. Ed Brown officiating.
Mr. Walls was born in Houston. He graduated from Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas Law School. He was a self-employed attorney and a member of the Church of Christ. He married Judith Plas in Houston in 1985.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Jennifer Walls of Houston; and his parents, Ernest and Opal Walls of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Herman Davis
Herman Davis, 85, of Abilene died Friday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with Chaplain Sue Rowlett officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Davis was born in Young County and grew up in Eula and Denton Valley. He moved to California and worked for the Chrysler Corporation in the late 1940s and early 1950s, returning to Denton Valley in 1955. He retired after farming for more than 50 years in Denton Valley. He moved to Abilene from Clyde in 1991 and was a member of Oplin Baptist Church. He married Evelyn Essary in 1958 in Abilene; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include four stepsons, Kenneth Bradshaw of Seattle, Wash., Wesley Bradshaw of Fort Worth, Dahyl Bradshaw of Clyde and Larry Bradshaw of Florida; one stepdaughter, Geneva Dodson-Lucas of Abilene; one brother, Carl Davis of Clyde; one sister, Odie Belle Willson of Abilene; 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.

J.E. ‘Runt’ McCoy Jr.
HAMLIN — J.E. “Runt” McCoy Jr., 81, died Monday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Howard Jones and Tracy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. McCoy was born near Hodges and attended Wise Chapel schools, graduating from Hamlin High School in 1936. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and had owned M&C Lumber since 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Faithful Sunday school class. He served on the Hamlin Independent School District and Neinda Co-Op Gin boards and was a director of Hamlin Country Club. He married Inez Joiner in 1942 near Hamlin.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamlin; one son, Larry McCoy of Hamlin; one daughter, Kay Taylor of Pecos; one brother, Larry Jack McCoy of Abilene; one sister, Jackie Drees of Yorba Linda, Calif.; one stepbrother, Kenneth Lewis of Big Spring; one stepsister, Sue Kinzler of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth Curry
BRECKENRIDGE — Ruth V. Curry, 85, died Sunday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox officiating. Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mrs. Curry was born in Haywood, Okla., and attended school there and in McAlester, Okla., where she graduated from high school. She moved to Breckenridge in 1943 and was a homemaker and worked for Sears Roebuck as a saleswoman. After retiring, she worked in the ranching business. She had been a member of Elliott Street Church of Christ since 1943. She married Homer Lee Curry in 1943 in Breckenridge; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Cecilia Ruth Petry of Breckenridge; one son, Dr. C.W. “Cecil” Brown of Breckenridge; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary Charlotte Cooper
MIDLAND — Mary Charlotte Cooper, 76, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Setzer officiating.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Denver, Colo., and graduated from East High School in Denver. She was a longtime member of Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, where she was church secretary for 6¤ years. She was on the auxiliary board of Trinity Towers, where she taught fitness and exercise, and had been a member of Children’s Service League, on the YMCA board and a Girl Scout leader. She married Donald Cooper in 1943.
Survivors include her husband, of Midland; one son, David Cooper of Midland; one daughter, Cindy Cooper Smith of Edmond, Okla.; one grandchild and many other relatives.

Nina Ilera Ivy
ASPERMONT — Nina Ilera Ivy, 92, died Sunday at a Levelland hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Aspermont Church of Christ with Bob Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Aspermont Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ivy was born in Stonewall County. She married Linville “Snooks” Ivy in 1926 in Stonewall County; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Smart of Levelland and Wanda Jackson of White Oak; three sons, Bill Ivy of Midland, Lynn Ivy of Lubbock and Glenn Ivy of Sweeney; two brothers, B.O. Hawkins Sr. of Aspermont and R.M. Hawkins of Buckhorn, N.M.; one sister, Lois Dart of Mansfield, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph Decker III
RHINELAND — Joseph Decker III, 106, Knox County’s oldest resident, died Sunday at a Wichita Falls nursing home.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeremy Myers officiating. Burial will be in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Decker was born in Manor and moved to Knox County in 1899. He was a charter member of Rhineland Chapter of the Knights of Columbus Council 1766, joining in 1915 and receiving his 75-year pin in 1990. He was a farmer and beekeeper and raised sheep and blue Andelosion chickens. He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. He married Clothilda Mary Hannig in 1922 in Rhineland; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Morath of Wichita Falls, Dorothy Herring of Rhineland and Lillian Pennartz of Decatur; one sister, Rose Birkenfield of Nazareth; one brother, Frank Decker of Albuquerque, N.M.; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Wayne Buford ‘Cowboy’ Dalton
CROSS PLAINS — Wayne Buford “Cowboy” Dalton, 71, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in May Cemetery with Mack Taff officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mr. Dalton was born in Rising Star and was a truck driver and a Baptist. He was the widower of Jackie Hoffman.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Wayne Dalton of Baytown, Billy Rex Dooley of Rising Star and William Henry Dalton II of Dallas; two daughters, Kathie Ann Nelson of Rising Star and Katie Idelia Dalton of Missouri; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don Ray Brewer
BROWNWOOD — Don Ray Brewer, 62, of Waco died Sunday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zephyr Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Brewer was born in Brownwood and had lived in Waco for six years. He retired as a telephone communication specialist from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Masonic Lodge in Zephyr.
Survivors include one son, Gary Don Brewer, and two cousins.
