Carol McDonald Law
FORT WORTH — Carol McDonald Law, 50, a local C.P.A., died Tuesday.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Independence Chapel at Greenwood Funeral Home Mausoleum. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Law was born in Memphis, Tenn. She graduated from McMurry University. She owned and operated her own firm, Carol McDonald & Company in Fort Worth.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck Law of Fort Worth; three sons, Kenneth Birch and Justin Birch, both of Fort Worth, and Matt Birch of Abilene; three stepchildren, Lindsay Law and Cara Law, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Brandon Law of Lubbock.; her parents, Norris and Evelyn Archer of Nampa, Idaho; three sisters, Kathy Beale and Bonnie Archer of Boise, Idaho and Jane Wiebold of Nampa, Idaho; and one niece.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lymphoma Society.

Joe Van Rogers
Joe Van Rogers, 68, died Tuesday in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Rogers was born in Bakersville, Calif., and raised in Abilene. He had lived in New York the past 30 years where he was an interior decorator and artist. He was a member of University Church of Christ.
Survivors include one brother, Lester Ray Rhodes.

E.F. ‘Eddie’ Edwards
E.F. “Eddie” Edwards, 83, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at North’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Rd. Burial will be at Hamby Cemetery in Hamby.
Mr. Ewing was born in Longview and raised in Vernon. He married Minnie Woodfin in Maple in 1936. He lived in Breckenridge before moving to Abilene in 1972. He worked for Abilene Mobile Homes for more than 20 years. He was the chairman of the Board of Deacons at Hamby Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia Ann Seedorf of San Antonio and Nona Lee Sliter of Hamby; one son, Herb Edwards of Possum Kingdom Lake; one brother, Luther Edwards of Sundown; two sisters, Tennie Gilbreath and Grace Thomas, both of Abilene; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 tonight at North’s Funeral Home Chapel, 242 Orange.

Earlie R. Rose
Earlie R. Rose, 67, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Andrew Penns officiating. Burial will be in Loraine Cemetery at 3 p.m., directed by Girdner-Brown Funeral Home.
Mr. Rose was born in Milan County and grew up in Loraine. He lived in Abilene most of his life and worked as a self-employed maintenance worker. He was a member of the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Luvina Rose of Abilene; four sons, Tony Telcher of Midland, Billy Rose of Dallas, Mark Darden of Lubbock and Morgan Hickman of Abilene; two daughters, Sharon Williams and Wanda McCoy, both of Abilene; three sisters, Ollie Samples of Sweetwater, Dorothy Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Willie Wideman of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Edythe Juanita Fain
Edythe Juanita Fain, 89, died Sunday in Tyler.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Gary Fain officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Highway 277 South.
Mrs. Fain was raised in Grandview. She worked at Thornton’s Department store and Waldrop’s for several years as a decorator. She was the widow of Irvin Fain, whom she married in Wylie in 1929. She moved from Abilene to Tyler in 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one grandson, Gary Donald Fain Jr. of Tyler; and five great-grandchildren.

Katharyn Von Leidersdorff
Katharyn Von Leidersdorff, 93, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the First Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. Cliff Stuart officiating, directed by North’s Funeral Home. The body was cremated.
Mrs. Von Leidersdorff was born in Brownsville. She was the widow of Carlisle Williams, whom she married in Brownsville in 1927, and of John Von Leidersdorff, whom she married in Charlotte, Va., in 1956. She had lived in Abilene since 1978 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Carlisle Williams of Abilene; one daughter, Mary Alice Williams of Abilene; one brother, R.B. Creager of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

J. Michael Hewitt
KNOX CITY — J. Michael Hewitt, 50, died Sunday in Plano from a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sparkman-Dickey Funeral Home Chapel in Plano. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Knox City Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Trice officiating, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Knox City.
Mr. Hewitt was born in Knox City and graduated from O’Brien High School. He married Lisa Ann Griffin. He had worked as a real estate broker and was a homebuilder. He had lived in the Lubbock area where he was the leasing manager for the South Plains Mall before moving to Dallas. He achieved the CRI, CRS, CRB and CCIM designations. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Michelle Barker of Mesquite and Lauren Hewitt of Plano; two brothers, David Hewitt of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Gary Hewitt of Tyler; one sister, Melinda Hensley of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Knox City.

Lottie Turner Eckler
BIG SPRING — Lottie Turner Eckler, 85, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Wanda Hill officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park.
Mrs. Eckler was born in Palo Pinto County. She was the widow of Coy Turner, whom she married in 1935, and of Alfred Ray Eckler, whom she married in Big Spring in 1970. She originally moved to Big Spring in 1943 but lived in Abilene between 1975 and 1984. She was retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company.
Survivors include two sons, Gaylord “C.G.” Turner of Lamesa and Gilbert “Aggie” Turner of Midland; two daughters,, Loretta Yarbrough of Forsan and Jo Nell McWhorter of Abilene; one sister, Susie Hamilton of Weatherford; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church, 2702 N. Birdwell Lane, Big Spring, TX 79720.

Creston Davis Whitten
MERKEL — Creston Davis Whitten, 74, died Tuesday in Abilene.
No services are planned and the body was donated to research and science. Arrangements were by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mr. Whitten was born in Sylvester where he graduated from high school. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He lived in Midland for many years and retired from Road Machinery Company. He was a member of the Midland Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Baptist. He was a mechanic.
Survivors include his sister, Iva Mae Early of Abilene; one aunt; one nephew; and one cousin.
Memorials may be made to donor’s favorite charity.
