Mildred Jacobs Mann
BROWNWOOD — Mildred Jacobs Mann, 78, died Monday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Eastland Memorial Park with Benny Allcorn officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Mann was born in Uvalde. She was the widow of Tommie Mann. She had been a resident of Brownwood since 1958 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Horace R. Mann, William “Butch” Mann, and Tommy L. Mann, all of Brownwood, and Delbert “Tony” Mann of Katy; one daughter, Barbara Gentry of El Paso; five brothers, Sammy D. Jacobs, Bill R. Jacobs, Clarence “Sonny” Jacobs, L.B. “Bo” Jacobs and Francis Jacobs; four sisters, Louise “Mozelle” Walbert, Wanna Cox, Ann Nentwig, and Pat Winklemann; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam R. Morris
BIG SPRING — Sam R. Morris, 81, died Sunday in a Dallas hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with the Rev. Greg Taylor officiating, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Big Spring.
Mr. Morris was born in Campbell and moved to Big Spring from Abilene in 1942. He was retired from Cosden Oil. He was a Pentecostal.
Survivors include two sons, William Morris of Plano and Stanley Morris of Abilene; one brother, Nathan Morris of Abilene; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Billie Jean Ray Rodriquez
ALBANY — Billie Jean Ray Rodriquez, 67, died Monday at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Tunnel officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Mrs. Rodriquez was born in Wichita Falls and grew up in Archer City. She was the widow of Charles William Rodriquez, whom she married in Archer City in 1957. She was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University. She taught school in Albany and was a rancher.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Riley and Georgia Rodriquez, both of Albany; two sons, Stan Rodriquez of Abilene and Charles Wayne Rodriquez of Paris; her mother, Flossie Ray of Archer City; one sister, Robbie Preadeaux of Archer City; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care of donor’s favorite charity.

LUBBOCK - Angelica Juanita Silva, 8, died Thursday from injuries received in a traffic accident.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Merkel with the Rev. Tim Guthridge officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Angelica was born in Abilene. She was a third grade student at Northridge Elementary School in Lubbock and on the A-B honor roll. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Rojelio M and Carmen Silva of Lubbock; one brother, Eric Hernandez of Fort Worth; three stepbrothers, Eric Lee Rojas, David Manuel Arrellano, and Guadalupe Arrellano, all of Lubbock; three sisters, Sandra Hernandez of Fort Worth, and Alicia Willett and Anna Ofelia Silva, both of Abilene; paternal grandfather, Guadalupe Silva Sr. of Abilene; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

MERKEL - Juanita Rosas Hernandez, 68, died Thursday from injuries received in a traffic accident in Lubbock.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Hernandez of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Justo Hernandez Jr. of Fort Worth; five daughters, Lupe Moreno, Helen Moreno, Olivia Marez, and Victoria Hernandez, all of Abilene, and Rita Moreno of Alvarado; one brother, Lamberto L. Rosas of Abilene; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Newt C. 'Pinky' Rash
Newt C. "Pinky" Rash, 70, of Abilene, died Thursday at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 south, with the Rev. Ron Meador officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Rash was born in Peacock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired after 20 years in the oil field industry. He was also self-employed in the ice cream and milk vending industry.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rash of Abilene; two sons, Steve Rash of Midland and Gary Rash of Austin; one daughter, Tina Rash of Lubbock; three sisters, Ella Rash Drennan and Thelma Rash Mullis, both of Aspermont, and Wanda Joe Houston of Wichita Falls; and five grandchildren.

LaVerne Burks Barnes
LaVerne Burks Barnes, 78, of Abilene, died Friday in Alamogordo, N.M.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the University Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Anson and graduated from high school in Spur. She was the widow of Leon Owsley Barnes, whom she married in 1942. She received her Bachelor and Master degrees from Hardin-Simmons University and taught in several Texas schools before retiring in 1979 after 27 years of teaching. She was a member of University Baptist Church and the Abilene Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include three sons, Don L. Barnes of Denton, Kenneth W. Barnes of Fort Worth, and J. Neal Barnes of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Mary V. Brown of El Paso; two sisters, Murline Shagula and Irma Barslow, both of Abilene; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnny Dale Roberson
Johnny Dale Roberson, 63, of Abilene, died Saturday at a local convalescent center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Randy Daughtery and Ken Dozier officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Roberson was born in Palo Pinto County. He attended Ranger High School and Ranger Junior College. He married Nelda Deane Stroud in Abilene in 1957. He moved to Abilene from Anson in 1979. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served with the 82nd Airborne. He was a printer at the Abilene Reporter News for 23 years before retiring. He was a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ, Big Country Radio Group, and National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; three daughters, Sara Beth Woodrow of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cynthia Bowman and Lisa Roberson, both of Abilene; one brother, Tommy Roberson of Abilene; one sister, Gloria Jean Burnett of Eastland; and four grandchildren.
