Emma Vee Burleson
LAWN - Emma Vee Burleson, 87, of Lawn, died Thursday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Lawn with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will be in the Counts Cemetery near the Tokeen community, under direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Homes, 542 Hickory.
Born in Tokeen, Mrs. Burleson moved to Lawn in 1920, and graduated from Lawn High School. She married James Alvin Burleson in Lawn in 1931. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Stewart Nursing Home for six years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lawn.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, J.L. Burleson of Lawn; one sister, Pauline Parramore of Abilene; one brother, Leroy Lockett of San Angelo; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene, TX 79603.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bernice Nadine Echols
BLANKET - Bernice Nadine Echols, 81, of Blanket died Friday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Blanket with the Revs. Billy Camp and Gary Day officiating. Burial will be in the Blanket Cemetery directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Echols was born in Soper, Okla. She married S.P. Echols in 1941, and she and her husband settled that year in Andrews. There she was a member of Second Baptist Church and a past president of the Rebecca Lodge. In 1976, she moved to Blanket and was a member of the Blanket Quilting Club. She was a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Delsie Ary of Blanket and Zanna Tucker of Midland; four brothers, Norman Smith of Paonia, Colo.; Denton Smith of Odessa; Robert Smith of DeQueen, Ark.; and Arvel Smith of Texarkana; one sister, Leota McKinney of Andrews; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Blanket Cemetery Association and the Blanket Lions Club.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m today at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Emma Doakie Day
BROWNWOOD - Emma Doakie Day, 99, of Brownwood, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Ron Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Jenkin Springs Cemetery.
She was born in Brownwood, where she married Charles C. Day in 1918. The lifelong Brownwood resident was a member of First Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Brownwood Garden Club and the Brownwood Artists Association. She was a homemaker.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ed (Beezer) and Virginia Day of Owens, Texas, and Charles Day Jr. of San Antonio; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Andy Shatterfield of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Stella Mae Russell
BROWNWOOD - Stella Mae Russell, 67, of Brownwood, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elkins Cemetery, with the Rev. Lynn Turnbow officiating, under direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
She was born in Georgetown and lived most of her live in Brownwood. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two sons, Albert A. Russell of Shadyside, Ohio, and Leonard H. Russell of Dallas; a brother, Carl Cleary of Brownwood; two sisters, Bonnie Robinson of Brownwood and Lena Burns.

Jack Doyle Petree
OLDEN - Jack Doyle Petree, 65, of Olden, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Eastland with the Rev. Ken Colegrove officiating. Burial will be in the Bullock Cemetery directed by the Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger.
Born in Eastland County, he grew up in Morton Valley, Carbon and Eastland. He married Lillian Beck in 1955 in Ranger. He worked as a T&P Railroad signalman for nine years, for Lone Star Gas Co. for two years, and 35 years as a lineman and construction crew chief for Comanche County Electric Co-op.
He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Morton Valley wand was an avid gardener and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl Thompson of Garland and Caryn Boone of Comanche; a sister, Lois Eaton of Cisco; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church Building Fund in Ranger or Comanche.

Denver Philex Stagner
RANGER - Denver Philex Stagner Jr., 74, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial will be in the Colony Cemetery.
He was born in Ranger and grew up in the area. He married Nellie Mae Exline in 1946 in Cisco. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, and after his retirement opened a lawnmower repair service in Ranger. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Denver Felix Stagner Jr., Billy Ray Stagner of Gore, Okla.; and James Michael Stagner of Hensley, Ark.; three daughters, Betty Jean Hogan, Wilma Marie Sybesma and Rebecca Ann Tibbels, all of Ranger; one brother, M.S. Stagner of Ranger; two sisters, Joyce Huckaby of Breckenridge and Lorene Smith of Abilene; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A.T. "Thea" Lucas
STANTON - A.T. "Thea" Lucas, 85, of Stanton, died Friday in a Stanton nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Baptist Church of Stanton with the Rev. Eddie Freeman of Cleburne and the Rev. David Harp of Stanton officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery directed by Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
Born in Mills County, he married Zenona Bell Northcutt in 1932 in Runnels County. She preceded him in death in 1971. He married Cleo Branham in Glen Rose in 1987, and moved to the Somervell County town that year.
He was a member of the Rainbow Baptist Church in Glen Rose.
He had farmed 1953-75 in the Greenwood community near Stanton, and moved back to Stanton earlier this year.
A grandchild and a great-great-grandchild preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo, of Glen Rose; a son, J.T. Lucas of Stanton; a daughter, June Houston of Stanton; a sister, Ruth J. Rogers of San Angelo; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Don N. Duncan
TRENT - Don N. Duncan, 65, of Comstock, a Trent native and son of a Trent woman, died Thursday in a Del Rio hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Central Church of Christ in Del Rio, under direction of G.W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home of Del Rio. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Trent Cemetery.
Mr. Duncan was retired from the U.S. Border Patrol, and had been the patrol agent in charge of the Comstock office. He also ranched in Val Verde County.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lee; four sons, Randy Duncan of Colorado City, Andy Duncan of Houston, and Drue and Jeffrey Duncan, both of Brackettville; his mother, Mrs. Nolan Duncan of Trent; a brother, Jerrold Duncan of Deming, N.M.; and nine grandchildren.
