Kaytlyn Suzanne Gilbreath
PORTER — Kaytlyn Suzanne Gilbreath, 2, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday in Rosewood North Funeral Home Chapel of Porter with the Rev. Walter Kahler officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood North Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kaytlyn was born in Houston and was the daughter of John and Christy Gilbreath.
Survivors include her parents of Porter; two brothers, Brandon Gilbreath and Justin Gilbreath, both of Porter; grandparents, Kenneth and Carolyn Carter, Jimmy and Janett Landers, Dan and Maudene Gilbreath of Abilene; great-grandmothers, Mildred Landers and Dolly Kessee; and numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Joann Elizabeth Hodapp Ash
WINTERS — Joann Elizabeth Hodapp Ash, 65, died Wednesday in a San Angelo hospital.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Winters Funeral Home. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with the Rev. Sam Homsey officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery.
Mrs. Ash was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the widow of James H. Ash, whom she married on December 5, 1956 in Greensburg, Ind. She moved to Texas in 1960 and to Winters in 1998. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Survivors include two daughters, Emma Jonas of Winters and Virginal Wheeler of Benton, La.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Lisbon Lee ‘Boop’ Letz
OLD GLORY — Lisbon Lee “Boop” Letz, 65, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell with the Rev. Gary Bruns officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Hobbs Cemetery in Hobbs, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mr. Letz was born in Stonewall County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Farris Lyndle McCombs on May 28, 1971 in Haskell. He was the postmaster of Old Glory from 1958 until his death. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 9179 of Stamford and the Old Glory Sons of Hermann Lodge 228.
Survivors include his wife of Old Glory; one daughter, Linda Strickland of Haskell; his father, Alfred “Doc” Letz of Aspermont; one sister, Marie Kretschmer of Haskell; one grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

Frank Alford Nix
BROWNWOOD — Frank Alford Nix, 76, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Don Scott and Pat McClatchey officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mr. Nix was born in Brownwood. He served with the Seventh Armored Infantry during World War II and was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart with Oakleaf cluster, the Presidential Unit Citation, the European Victory Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal. He received his B.A. from Daniel Baker College, his M.Ed. From Texas Tech, and did post graduate work at Texas Tech and Eastern New Mexico University. He taught school in Brownwood and Seminole, and retired as a public school administrator after 39 years. He taught Sunday school at First United Methodist Church. He married Bobby Compton in Brownwood on July 16, 1955.
Survivors include his wife of Brownwood; two daughters, Lori Ash of Lubbock and Leslie Smith of Brownwood; two sisters, Juanita Nix of Brownwood and Della Buby of Brown City, Mi.; three grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gerald ‘Moon’ Mullins
BROWNWOOD — Gerald “Moon” Mullins, 56, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mr. Mullins was born in Brownwood. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He married Karen Atkinson Geye in Kerrville on March 20, 1980. He was a lifelong resident of Brownwood and was retired from 3M.
Survivors include his wife of Brownwood; one son, Gerald Mullins of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Randa Geye of Amarillo; stepdaughter, Tina Salazar of Wichita Falls; stepson, Jack Morris of Wichita Falls; one grandchild; two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Edda Ratliff of Brownwood and Gloria Alderson of McKinney; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Jesse Burl Strickland
COLEMAN — Jesse Burl Strickland, 84, died Tuesday in an El Paso hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gary Boyd and Jeff Robinett officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mr. Strickland was born in Coleman where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Daniel Baker College and obtained his Master’s in Education from Hardin-Simmons University. He married Thelma Parker in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He taught math and coached in Roby, Goldsboro, and Novice. From 1951-55, he taught at Crane High School and then moved to Las Cruces, N.M., where he served one year as Assistant Principal of Court Junior High School. He then moved to White Sands Missile Range and worked as a mathematician in missile test flight simulations until 1980. In 1959 he and his wife helped found the University Presbyterian Church of Las Cruces, where he was active as a teacher and an elder. From 1983-91, he lived in Coleman and was active in Kiwanis, Meals on Wheels, First Presbyterian Church, and taught the Men’s Downtown Sunday school class. He returned to Las Cruces in 1991 and began tutoring math in the S.T.A.Y. Program for troubled teenagers in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of Las Cruces, N.M.; and one daughter, Suann Anderson of Macon, Ga.
Memorials may be made to the Men’s Downtown Sunday school class in Coleman or the Youth Fellowship of University Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces, N.M.

Ralph Wegenke
MINGUS — Ralph Wegenke, 82, died Wednesday at a Stephenville hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Marion Cemetery.
Mr. Wegenke was born in Thurber and grew up in the area. He married Mary Zinannie on Jan. 20, 1948, in Stephenville. He worked for Feather Light Company in Strawn for many years and later was transferred to the plant in Ranger where he retired as a foreman. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of Mingus; one daughter, Rena Moffit of Mingus; one grandchild; and several cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Daniel M. Rodriguez
Daniel M. Rodriguez, 82, of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at he St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Matz officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mr. Rodriguez was born in Uvalde and moved to Abilene in 1956. He was the widower of Oralia Gonzales Rodriguez, whom he married on June 22, 1991, in Abilene.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked in concrete construction. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Rodriguez and Adolfo Martinez, both of Abilene; two daughters, Maria Polanco and Elida Marentes, both of Abilene; one brother, Domingo Rodriguez of Uvalde; one sister, Maria Rodriguez of Pasadena; 12 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

John H. Smith
HASKELL — John H. Smith, 69, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Haskell with the Revs. Shane Brue, Mike Smith, and Jack Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mr. Smith was born in Newport, Pa. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Jane Weaver on July 11, 1952. He worked at the WTU power plant for 23 years, and was active in the American Legion and the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Haskell; three sons, Jack Allen Smith and Danny Ray Smith, both of Abilene, and Darrell Gene Smith of Haskell; one daughter, Melinda Williams of Temple; one sister, Gladys Smith of Newport, Pa.; one brother, Mike Smith of Newport, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Haskell, Boy Scouts of America, or the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
